Thank you so much for the pic of the tool to pull out a valve under the RV. At 75, with a bad back, I do not think I could successfully crawl under and get it and get back out. I saw the pullout knob, right in the middle, under the RV. I do not see any outlet so I am assuming it just opens it up to flow into the regular grey water tank to flow out. I hope to make one of those. What did you use to cut the pcv pipe?
Thank you. As an old lady that bought a used RV and knew nothing, this helped me stop trying to unclog a sink and discover the pullout knob in a different location than the black and grey water tank knobs were. Also, you pic of the tool you made to pull out a hard to access knob is a great idea too. Reply
Good tips 👍 We put 1/4 cup dawn dish soap and 2 gallons of water down the drains when leaving home going to the campgrounds. The sloshing around in the tanks as we drive cleans them quite well also. Then just dump when we get there. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
I use the screens in my drains to catch most of the debris. After I've done a dump, I always treat my grey tank with a sink full of water and a cup of Borax and a cup of Zeps concentrated degreaser. I only have one grey tank so my soapy shower water helps too.
I have a motto I go by at home and in the RV - you wash dishes you don't wash food. Use a spatula to scrape food debris into the trash and use sieves to filter debris into the trash as well. Virtually no grease goes down any of my drains at home or on the road in the RV.
GREAT info. A RV friend had the "smell" from his gray tank that he couldn't diagnose. It had a dead mouse smell. I went searching for a mouse but traced it to the ASTVD but had no idea it was a valve vs equalizer with maybe a cap (couldn't see the top) for the sink. Luckily another fellow camper in our group had had the same issue about a year ago and was carrying a spare. Had the old in and out in about 10 minutes. I assumed they vented to the roof. I do the Dawn & Borax treatment 1x a year in both gray tanks. I'll take your advice and try your method next week while we are out with full hookups as well. It would be nice if they'd put a flush out like the black tank on both of my gray tanks though.
I followed your lead on the electric valves. When i did this i changed out the 1 1/2 adapter on the grey tank to allow for a 3 inch pipe which was standard on my grey tank. Replumbed the new valves in and all pipes are now 3 in. No access to my grey like yours. Use the grey water to also backflush the black with a quick burst of water on a closed drain cap valve. Amazing what you get out even with the tank flushers
Great vid Ray - Amazing how much "gunk" collects in the kitchen grey tank. In another vid, I saw where they added a mixture of Calgon beads and PineSol to the grey tank to help keep it clean and fresh.
I'm doing lots of little things to my van to get it ready for my trip to Rochester MN and then on my way back to MD to sight see and try to meet other your too
good info Ray you should get two screens that fit into the drains at walmart , lowes, homedepot we got two helps stop the food from going down. then just clean them after washing dishes.
Lets try again.. Thank you for the video... I would like to buy the yellow pressure attachment you used to loosen and clean the traps etc.. where can I find that and is there a specific name for it..
Does anyone here use Tank Blaster to clean out their tanks? Used it for the first time in our black tank this season. I always use the tank flush hose when I drain the black tank.
Yes, I usually do that and add some cleaning solutions before I do the flushing. My tanks are near 40 gallons and quite flat like a larger square pancake though so the 6 gallons from my water heater doesn't do too much before it cools pretty quickly.
What was the button you pushed when you went outside? I thought my tank on a 5th W I just bought was clogged, there is no smell so I think the tank just needs to be drained but I do not know where the outlet is. The black and grey ones are empty, the levers were pulled but feel the galley is closed off. ???
@@LoveYourRV thank you for your quick answer. I am in a permanent location, wintering here. I am going to look tomorrow in daylight to see if I can find anything that resembles a lever or opening with a lid on it for another tank. I am a little old lady with a bad back so may have to pay my RV guy, who has already fixed so many things, take care of it for me. These videos have helped though, thank you.
Hey Ray I noticed you had great water pressure at your kitchen faucet. I tried to find a video I thought you created a while back on installing a water tank to increase water pressure, but I can't seem to find it. Do you still have it up and if so what's it called. Thanks in advance...

@@Nefertitidancer Yes, on my trailer it connects up with the other gray outlets. I used what is called an oscillating multitool.
@@LoveYourRV Is that the one you made that is out of a pvc pipe with a T cut in it?

My shower could probably use a good douching. Wife loses a lot of hair and for some reason likes taking camper showers. Thanks Ray!
A gallon White vinegar does a great job to soak the holding tank to loosen up anything clinging to the bottom of the holding tank

By this time you have replaced and upgraded almost everything in your cougar. Haha Larry
I have been thinking about this lately. Thanks!
The little yellow pressure wash attachment you used in the video.. is there a name for it. Please and where in the states could I find it.
Please tell me where to find the yellow pressure nozel/nose you used ... thank you !
Thanks. I took a shower today and realized that the water isn't draining, so now I have around 8" of water stuck in my tub...any advice, please?
Must be a blockage in the gray tank or you are no opening its valve

Ray, any thoughts about running hot water down drains and gray/black tanks to loosen things up?
