UWC Misconceptions

Ever been confused about what you can expect from a UWC experience? Hopefully this will clarify a few things :)

Hey, My name's Elliot and I am currently in Wales, UK. I've passed the first application through the GB committee and have now been invited to interview . Did the US candidates have a similar application process? If so, what are things to look out for on the interview day. If I successfully gain entry into UWC, I would be looking to come the UWC-USA, hence I would love to discuss this further :p

Hey Elliot! That's pretty much the same application process that the Americans went through last year, though ours happened later. I'd bet that our interviews aren't too similar since they're run by different national committees, but in general we did 15-20 minute private interviews with one or two people from admissions, and we also did a bunch of group activities and problem solving things with the other applicants at our interview site. If you're looking to prepare for the interview, it's hard to predict what their questions will be but you should be able to articulate things like why you want to go, why you're a good candidate/would represent your country well, what you want to do, etc. Also, study your application so if they ask you questions about it, you can be consistent. I can try to put you in touch with some of our Brits so they can fill you in on what the GB interviews are like, since they've all been through them. How do I apply for a scholarship and do I have any influence on where I am going to go?Because on the website that I visitited it said it's not possible but I can't quite believe that.
