I have this board in my build and I'm happy with it so far. It does everything I need and worked great so far, also with overclockling the 12600k (until I got bottlenecked by the cooling with the NH-U12A).
which cooler did you end up needing.. im going to be running mostly FL Studio and Cubase while learning how to add some scenes to my tracks with Blender and maybe some custom editing on another low-cost entry point software....i dont really play games but i will be running virtual machines some times...

Went with the Asus TUF D4 Wifi, but this would have been a potential alternative. Not a fan of the M.2 ports behind the graphics card though. The Asus has them below, which keeps these more accessible and cooler.
I've got Asus TUF D4 week ago, and hate the motherboard already. It won't POST with 128GB until you will update BIOS and install Windows. No drivers on start, so you will have no network, even on cable. Armoury Crate will not let Windows to shutdown properly because of errors (visible in Win Events), if you're using 128GB etc. Do you know how I installed the new hardware? (gpu, m2 SSDs etc?): - remove A1 B1 RAM (but leave A2 B2); - install hardware; - boot in BIOS, save; - boot into Windows, shutdown; - re-install A1 B1. - boot into BIOS, save; - finally boot into Windows. Oh, and you can't have different M2 SSDs in 3rd and 4th M2 slots because of very unstable RAID controller. Even if you don't want to use RAID at all!
@@vladtheclad RAM compatibility has been a sore point with many boards in recent years. I had issues with the D4 too, when I populated all RAM slots. Changing to 2x32 then worked. Such things should be parts of reviews, imo. Our purchasing decisions are often based on those.

Hi I am wondering if there is any difference in boot speed between ryzen and intel in 2022. I own a ryzen 3600 CPU and I notice some days boot speed can take longer than others. When I had an intel CPU the boot speed always remained the same and consistent. I also notice some random performance drop for a few second when I'm using Adobe software. Overall it's making me intel would give me smoother performance but I don't know if I will be wasting my money.

I am currently building a 12900k system using the gigabyte z690 Aero, (via your link) in a Phantecks Entroo Pro case. I am trying to use an Arctic Liquid cooler 420mm, on the top of the case, which fits, but only without the MB. It wont fit both! I have been searching far and wide for a solution, to no avail. I just need about an 1/8 of clearance! Any wisdom or knowlege you can share about this?
Hi, I bought this board (DDR4 RAM) as per your recommendation (Intel I5 12600K CPU). I also purchased a PSU EVGA G5 650W (As shown in your build video). I am puzzled with the connectors ATX_12V_2X2/ATX_12V_2X4_1 as there doesn't seem to be any connector on the power supply that will match. I have connected the ATX plug (24 pin). Could you please explain how to connect these plugs? On another note: I build my PC exactly as you've shown in your original movie but was disappointed to find out that the Arctic Freezer E34 Duo didn't fit on the board. Apparently it needs a different backing plate for the LGA1700 socket. Anyway, thank you very much for the excellent videos you create. I've subscribed to your channel!
Contact Arctic for the LGA 1700 mounting hardware. And I've got a full build guide for this coming out. But basically have a look at which PSU cables can plug in where, you can't go wrong! :)

I have been hearing a lot lately that Gigabyte Z690 DDR4 boards have been having a lot of issues running their XMP profiles. Obviously you got gigabyte ram with this board but have you tried any other 3600 RAM? Does this Gigabyte board not have the same issues as the other Gigabyte DDR4 boards?
I ran the Gigabyte RAM and 2x Kingston Fury kits. One 3600mhz Cl16 (4x16) and one 3600mhz cl18 (2x32GB) and the XMP worked fine for me. I'm also running the latest Bios update to date. (15.12.21)

Hey guys - I understand you have to get paid somehow, but suggesting a brand that is currently plagued with z690 DDR4 compatibility issues (among other bios issues) is not OK, and will loose your channel trust. I have just had to return my Gigabyte board. By you suggesting Gigabyte as a good z690 option, means other people will have to go through this as well -- see other comments in this thread re Current Gigabyte Issues
Sorry to hear you've had issues with Gigabyte z690 boards. I've also tried some Asus boards and pretty much all the boards have issues especially with RAM compatibility. It's a new platform adoption issues. Did you have issues with this specific board? And what version of bios were you running?

Was the Elite with DDR5? If so, I've been trying to sort my ddr5 xmp issues for weeks and been in contact with the Kingston tech guys from HQ and basically the answer is that the board and DDR5 + XMP has a lot of issues and there needs to be further optimization and working together with motherboard manufacturers to get better RAM compatibility. For example 4 DIMM XMP is super rare at the moment. :)
@@theTechNotice Mine was just the DDR4 Model - It's hard being an early adopter, and I know there are risks. This was a work machine for me as I was upgrading from a very old system on its last legs. I should have really waited for the kinks to be ironed out, but then again there has to be a certain level that the product should be able to operate at to be deemed acceptable. That's still interesting though, coz the DDR4 versions should be less funny about XMPs. I dunno what other people are saying, but this AERO G with the DDR4 gave me no problems, so as far as I can tell ATM, it's a great board and we'll be doing a build with it soon. But yes, totally behind the first adopters issues. I think Intel was pushed for time and they couldn't wait for the next release of AMD and had to have it out before hence all these issues. Since it's not just hardware issues, also software issues. I mean they got a whole new OS made (with the help of Microsoft) to get the 12th gen launched. Then there's all the motherboard issues, RAM issues... I think it's probably one of the biggest generational upgrades ever in the PC industry. Too many new things... Performance is impressive, so are the issues 🙈😂
Well, I asked them this same question directly and they said they sell OEM licences from old PCs that have been recycled or got rid of from big offices etc...

Finding it hard to take this video seriously; dozens of professional overclockers over at OCN have found that the Gigabyte boards (even the highest tiers) are absolute garbage for the 12th Gen, with most of them exchanging them for their ASUS/MSI equivalents. They are plagued with poor RAM compatibility and poor overclocking headroom, and articles about their VRMs online have also detailed how hot their boards get. Honestly, I suggest taking the video down or revising it before you lose credibility for your channel. Or doing additional research to make a proper comparison video instead. But if you're perhaps sponsored by Gigabyte, then well...
Suggesting a brand that currently has a lot of issues with z690 and DDR4 is not good - Basically you are taking a payment to suggest people buy a board with known issues - I have just returned my Gigabyte z690 board, and because of your video, other people will as well - Trust is important and easily lost
I've had this board for a while now and have ran 3 separate kits of RAM on it and the XMP profile works just fine for me. I guess I'm not having quite the 'same experience' as the people with them issues. I tried 2x Kingston and Gigabyte DDR4 kits. The issue is with the new platform 12th gen and DDR5. I've had some issues with other boards from other manufacturers regarding XMPs. It's just a new platform new issues :) And I didn't test the overclocking with this board. My channel is focused on creators who run the system at stock settings. And Gigabyte, hear that? When is the money truck arriving? 🤣🙈

Yeah, that's true. I guess if you don't need video output over USBc then the TUF D4 is great!

Same here, as a creator I never overclock my CPUs!
Overclocking is never the best as sometimes theres little performance and only more power and heat

The aero g is the ddr5 version and the aero d is the ddr4 cheaper versi on that doesn’t have 10gb with 2.5 fhe etc

I have been hearing a lot lately that Gigabyte Z690 DDR4 boards have been having a lot of issues running their XMP profiles. Obviously you got gigabyte ram with this board but have you tried any other 3600 RAM? Does this Gigabyte board not have the same issues as the other Gigabyte DDR4 boards?
I ran the Gigabyte RAM and 2x Kingston Fury kits. One 3600mhz Cl16 (4x16) and one 3600mhz cl18 (2x32GB) and the XMP worked fine for me. I'm also running the latest Bios update to date. (15.12.21)

Hi, I want to build with this mobo and 12700(non k). Could you tell me something about vrm and how hot is this mobo? Is known that Gigabyte mobos are warmer than other brands. I'm not a fan of overclocking .

to anyone who still own this board, quick question, mine takes about 20 sec with XMP enabled (3200mhz C16 Corsair Vengeance 2X16) only to show boot screen (where you have the option to enter BIOS), Is it normal?

You would likely use the HDMI from your GPU as well

Hey guys - I understand you have to get paid somehow, but suggesting a brand that is currently plagued with z690 DDR4 compatibility issues (among other bios issues) is not OK, and will loose your channel trust. I have just had to return my Gigabyte board.
By you suggesting Gigabyte as a good z690 option, means other people will have to go through this as well -- see other comments in this thread re Current Gigabyte Issues

I've also tried some Asus boards and pretty much all the boards have issues especially with RAM compatibility. It's a new platform adoption issues.
Did you have issues with this specific board? And what version of bios were you running?
@@theTechNotice Thanks for your reply - and you are right its not just Gigabyte. I had the Elite board and I had to return one lot of ram, but also ended up with PCIx16 lane issues. Thanks for your informative videos helping content creators.
Was the Elite with DDR5?
If so, I've been trying to sort my ddr5 xmp issues for weeks and been in contact with the Kingston tech guys from HQ and basically the answer is that the board and DDR5 + XMP has a lot of issues and there needs to be further optimization and working together with motherboard manufacturers to get better RAM compatibility. For example 4 DIMM XMP is super rare at the moment. :)
@@theTechNotice Mine was just the DDR4 Model - It's hard being an early adopter, and I know there are risks. This was a work machine for me as I was upgrading from a very old system on its last legs. I should have really waited for the kinks to be ironed out, but then again there has to be a certain level that the product should be able to operate at to be deemed acceptable. That's still interesting though, coz the DDR4 versions should be less funny about XMPs. I dunno what other people are saying, but this AERO G with the DDR4 gave me no problems, so as far as I can tell ATM, it's a great board and we'll be doing a build with it soon.
But yes, totally behind the first adopters issues. I think Intel was pushed for time and they couldn't wait for the next release of AMD and had to have it out before hence all these issues. Since it's not just hardware issues, also software issues. I mean they got a whole new OS made (with the help of Microsoft) to get the 12th gen launched. Then there's all the motherboard issues, RAM issues... I think it's probably one of the biggest generational upgrades ever in the PC industry. Too many new things... Performance is impressive, so are the issues 🙈😂

Well, I asked them this same question directly and they said they sell OEM licences from old PCs that have been recycled or got rid of from big offices etc...

Finding it hard to take this video seriously; dozens of professional overclockers over at OCN have found that the Gigabyte boards (even the highest tiers) are absolute garbage for the 12th Gen, with most of them exchanging them for their ASUS/MSI equivalents. They are plagued with poor RAM compatibility and poor overclocking headroom, and articles about their VRMs online have also detailed how hot their boards get. Honestly, I suggest taking the video down or revising it before you lose credibility for your channel. Or doing additional research to make a proper comparison video instead. But if you're perhaps sponsored by Gigabyte, then well...
Suggesting a brand that currently has a lot of issues with z690 and DDR4 is not good - Basically you are taking a payment to suggest people buy a board with known issues - I have just returned my Gigabyte z690 board, and because of your video, other people will as well - Trust is important and easily lost
I've had this board for a while now and have ran 3 separate kits of RAM on it and the XMP profile works just fine for me.
I guess I'm not having quite the 'same experience' as the people with them issues. I tried 2x Kingston and Gigabyte DDR4 kits.
The issue is with the new platform 12th gen and DDR5. I've had some issues with other boards from other manufacturers regarding XMPs.
It's just a new platform new issues :)
And I didn't test the overclocking with this board. My channel is focused on creators who run the system at stock settings.
