I usually get lined up by hammering half a pitcher of beer. Sometimes it takes a whole pitcher to get lined up. After that it's usually smooth sails for the rest of the night. If not than I'll be surely shooting another 450 series 😆
Watching your videos has helped me so much. I started bowling again about three years ago and my average started at 111 and now my average is 180 to 185 so thank you very much.
Keep at it the more you bowl the more you know . Might wanna consider a ball change . I was a 185 average bowler and upgraded to better performing balls and now I'm in the 230s
Love your vids and have found them very helpful, but I do have a request. Can you guys do, maybe, a video or something on bowling jargon? Hold, push, shape, grab, hit…. I’ve heard so many terms that I don’t fully understand and I’m sure I’m not alone. 😅 Would really appreciate it!
What do you do if you feel like you've completely lost a lane? Do you reset to where you started the lane? Do you ball change every throw? I reset to where I started or at least close then try a new angle.
It appears that you're in St. Louis. What bowling alley are you at? Are you here often? I was taught the basics by Ray Bluth when I worked at Crestwood Bowl about 20 years ago. I've been out of the game for a while now, but just bought me a new ball. Can't wait to hit the lanes again!
Each arrow represents 5 boards from the gutter. So, the 3rd arrow is the 15 board. 16 board is 1 board left of the 3rd arrow. By "at the arrows" he means the 16 board just to the left of the 3rd arrow. Because some people aim at the dots or if you are having trouble not getting the ball on the lane you may want to aim at the 15 board (3rd arrow) but actually aim 2 feet in front of the arrow to get the ball out on the lane. So you would not be playing "at the arrows" the distance from where you are aiming to your feet.
Oh yeah, finally first comment! Love you Brad and Kyle, giving helpful advice as always. Hitting my target consistently is one thing I still struggle with. I usually start right, aiming at first arrow or board 7, something like that.
At 2:08 did Kyle say "knife on the end of the pattern"? Can you please explain is that normal bowling saying? :) First time I hear it...but we also call it similar in Serbia, in translation to English "stabs to the side on the end", fast thrust to the side. Btw we were cheering for you guys on the weekend ;) As Iron Maiden say...."your time will come" :D
Can you do a video to know when you should change your fit and what you might look to do. (Swelling, etc) I haven't bowled in a year to the thing here and now my ball hangs on my thumb when I release so I think I need to change my pitch but I don't know if I should go forward or reverse
Does anyone know of a video that breaks down the “lingo”. I have no idea what “16 at the arrows” means among other things he mentioned. I’m a beginner and on 2 leagues and really need to improve my game.
Kyle targets with the arrows (Brad targets with the dots, but you didn’t ask that), so he means he wants to cross the arrows with the center of the ball on the 16th board from the right (since he’s a righty).
Could you guys please make some videos on how to fix not leaving bad. Tips to help stop leaving each of the buckets, so on and so forth. Or if there is already such videos could you point me in the right direction? thank you
So basically what I need to adjust to stop it from happening. Like if a right hander is leaving a ringing 10 he needs to adjust right one or two boards.
One element that is rarely shown is when playing steeper angles, where do you stand on approach and end up square to your target at foal line? When playing straight up being square to the foul line, you would typically stand 7-10 boards left of your target. How do you end up square to your target without drifting right while maintaining that steeper angle and squareness to your target? Do you walk straight and shift your body at last second? Some tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The only issue I have lately is 2 out of 3 of my balls and aggressive. I have a exotic gem and a black widow 2.0 hybrid. Then my spare ball is a black widow viz a ball . But my local tourments have been real short and lower oil and if I throw one of the mains. I have to go way left and shoot it across the lane almost to the gutter and then sharp back . At like 18 to 19mph . I'm comfortable at around 12 to 14mph
Can you give some advice what I can give my son who is a two handed bowler he seen a pattern that he never seen before and he likes to live in the middle of the lane but he couldn't on this tournament it was dry in the middle and very slick on the outside
This video would've helped yesterday, I was struggling bad, I had 5 7 pins in a row from 5 different pocket shots, then I had a 7-10 and an 8-10. I switched balls and I moved around too, nothing was working.
I understand that there are 39 boards. Please explain when you refer to, say board 12 or 18, do you count from the left or right or from the middle left or right. I'm not sure because I hear you speak about board 12 or 14 but not 35 or 29. I trust you understand my question.
It would be helpful to hear not only what board he's standing on when he lines up but also what arrow he's aiming at for the different scenarios he tested.
Brad and Kyle, we met briefly this afternoon at JBs Allen Bowl. If y’all will be back at the lanes this week, let me know. Would like to talk a little more. If y’all are heading out of town, just let me know when y’all will be in town. If you ever need a place to stay in Dallas, let me know. I have an airstream on my property you are more than welcome to stay in. I wish I had thought to ask for a quick lesson while you were at the lanes. Would be happy to pay for your time. Reply to this comment and et me know how to get in touch and share my contact info. Thanks and good luck in 2022
Surface... more grit uses energy faster for less downlane insanity. Move into the track and throw it, moving left as needed. Typically on house, move left when you miss left if your hitting target. Also up your speed. Just left Monday night league where it was pretty dry, used less ball with surface and shot 650s.. tomorrow I will use less surface with little more oil out usually. Good luck
It depends on how much left you move. If you move left 4-5 boards, readjust back right until you find the spot. If you move 1-2 boards, your getting an over-under reaction which means you need a ball with different motion to get a better backend reaction(ex: I have a Phaze II and a Omega Crux set up to have similar reaction but have completely different backend angles via A-symmetrical vs. symmetrical cores).
I actually relate to the guy bowling because I have high revs, I life to play left also. If I move right 40% of the time I won’t hit the pocket because the ball will over hook.
I started bowling 15 days ago, I got a coach and my first lesson is Monday. I bowl every single day and my question is how many games a day should I play?
This kind of makes sense, but realistically you’re never going to only use one ball no matter what. If you spend this many shots fiddling around and then realize that ball isn’t what you’re looking for, that doesn’t really give you much time to find out what ball will match you up better. I think a more useful video would have you build a broad arsenal for an unknown pattern then use what you’ve got to try to get lined up on it, in a more realistic way.
I have a dilemma maybe you guys can help. I throw about 17 mph with a lot of hand. I'm 49 years old and have been bowling in leagues since I was 18. We switched to a new house, these lanes are dry as a bone. I resorted to using a 30 year old plastic ball (forget the name) as my strike ball. Straight up the right side and it had nice drive on the back end. My previous strike ball, Tropical Storm, was just ripping across the lanes. Problem is the plastic ball cracked. No problem, buy a new plastic ball right? Nope. New plastic ball does not hook at all (like it's supposed to). I'm getting to the pocket, but it's not driving through, leaving tons of tens and other bad leaves! I bought a few different balls, explaining to the pro shop guy my dilemma, anything and everything I buy just rips across the lanes...I'm dying out there! The last one was the Hustle PBR, can't remember the others, they all hook too much. I developed too much hand by cranking the plastic ball... I'm thinking about trying urethane as in the purple Hammer. Do you think that would help? Thanks in advance!
You watch the spot you are trying to hit and then see where the ball hits on the pins and then you adjust your spot a board or two to the left or right and try again. It is not hard to figure out. Most people can do it on there own. Now these guys can do it more often because that is all they do is bowl, 6 to 10 hours a day .
Kyle is so childish. Brad is trying to explain things while Kyle is just like whatever and bowl while Brad is still talking lol. Brad is more professional with his point.
Love how he nonchalantly picked up that split with his left hand.
Somehow I thought I would be the first one to notice it *lefty player by the way*
That was pretty sick.
Super dope. And how he couldn't fully take his eyes off it 😮
6:42 for anyone else who missed this 😅

Heh. My average is 111 right now. So I have some hope! :) I can't hook a ball to save my life right now.
@@MuahMan hey man how’s the progress coming
@@MuahMan im struggling so hard to hook a ball right now

I love how applicable your answer is!
Not just worried about the pattern, but telling us how you adjust is awesome! Thanks guys!
Glad to see my Hustle ball getting some love! In my first league now and my average has shot up watch your vids. Thanks fellas 👍🏻
The pattern Kyle was bowling on was the 40 ft pattern from the clash of the Spartans collegiate tournament this weekend.
Great video, can you guys do one on ball layouts and how to find your pap?
jrs pro shop made a really good video about this, th-cam.com/video/6Xt7YW8rD-Q/w-d-xo.html

Didn't know about this channel until yesterday's Cheetah Championship. You've got a new fan and it looks like I have a bunch of videos to catch up on.
that was awesome, line up ur shot, with patterns with the oil, n as it drys up.. moving left n right. awesome demonstration. Kyle n brad.. thanku rick
Thanks for the tips last Wednesday i had a 227 and a 223 602 series my first in awile
Love your demo. Very useful!
What do you do if you feel like you've completely lost a lane? Do you reset to where you started the lane? Do you ball change every throw? I reset to where I started or at least close then try a new angle.
Very helpful... would have been even more helpful yesterday when I had to figure out a tourney pattern..
Do have any videos for beginners understanding the if you are missing the pocket right to move right on a house pattern? & vise versus.
Good explanation, so if your target is the 18 board at the arrows where do you position your left foot at the start? At the 25 board?

Do you guys have a video explaining the terminology you use, ie 16 at the arrows ? Not a clue what that means sorry, but love watching your videos

Very helpful video guy's, thanks.
Maybe do one on your ball speed me as a bowler I am struggling with that
Is it a good idea to go for a weak ball like urethane or rubber going straight hook to deal with transition.
I know I'm late but congrats for a 100k😁🥳

Kyle is better at picking up spares nonchalantly with hihis left hand than I am seriously with my right lol
Great video's!!! Do you guys use the rule of 31 to also help line up?
Very helpful! Would like to see his shots from the first camera angle all the way down lane. Thanks for the great content as usual!

I bowl straight but I average no less than 160 up to 180 a game I just ordered ne a twist is that a good ball for the way I bowl
Need a video on how newer bowlers pick out layouts, I've improved in the last two years but have no idea how layout would be best or helpful!
Excellent video!
You guys give great info, but when you talk about where you’re placing ball to find pattern. You never discuss what board you’re placing your foot
Hi guys. I’m bowling at the orleans in Vegas this weekend. Does anyone know the oil pattern there?

could you guys make a video showing us how to bowl on really dry lanes? I own a hustle rap pearl and I'm struggling severely to hit even the 7 pin
Surface... more grit uses energy faster for less downlane insanity. Move into the track and throw it, moving left as needed. Typically on house, move left when you miss left if your hitting target. Get a urethane ball or just change the release. Be more firm or give it less.
The problem is, thinking back to my Junior league days, I don’t think we got that much time to warm up.
What do you do when you over hook playing right and it doesn't come back when you move left? Is my ball too strong for the pattern?
It depends on how much left you move. If you move left 4-5 boards, readjust back right until you find the spot. If you move 1-2 boards, your getting an over-under reaction which means you need a ball with different motion to get a better backend reaction(ex: I have a Phaze II and a Omega Crux set up to have similar reaction but have completely different backend angles via A-symmetrical vs. symmetrical cores).

You've been keep on moving left to find the right target. What is your focal point and what is the exit point.
Also, in many leagues getting nine shots in warm-up is not going to happen, so you better be ready to do makes some changes early in the first game.
What about moving forward and back?

You fouled with your right foot in the thumbnail, Kyle!
How heavy is your ball?
15
I love how in all your videos you both act like 2 strangers that met in a bowling alley and want to explain how to bowl.
Nice people

How To Find Your Target To Bowl More Strikes on your left hand
Slowed it down, shouldn't you keep things the same and adjust left until you find your mark.
Guy those ball activate foul line on other lane
Beginner bowler watching….saying to myself “I KNOW NOTHING!” Long, short, hook, oil…I am like throw a little to the left or right of the head pin. 🥺😳🥺
You either find it or you shake your head and laugh. Bowling 101
nah I’m good, threw a 783 yesterday. Whoops haha
"The Hustle PBR is one of the strongest coverstocks Storm makes."
Uhh... What?!
Ha! My top speed is 15! Hum.
Every time I go for the hook it gutters
still?
So now this adds another question. What do you do to change your speeds?
Footwork. Speed is all in leg and foot work. Move forward to slow down.
@@TNJRSFFS I think there's more to it than that.
Push away height!
So it took him a whole game to figure it out? You don’t get that much practice
You're trying to figure out the lanes..not really targeting
Sorry way too much talking and not enough demonstration of those areas to setup, etc
Thumbnail = foul 🤣
Love your tips but to much talking and not enough showing actual shots. More slow video
No one will read this comment because it's on an older video but I have to point out that Kyle, you are fouling in the thumbnail... tisk tisk.
You guys are using lots of undefined terms rendering much of your videos meaningless.
Talk toooo much
