I was fortunate to play along with Subban Garu for many recordings. He was such a dedicated and talented musician known for his humility too.
I first met young Babuji in 1986 during a recording of Johnson at AVMC and since then we have attended numerous recordings of various composers. I still wonder how he could handle Shehnai, such a difficult instrument, in a pleasing manner and even capture our attention. His intonation and tone are excellent and he is able to play in all the scales ( a very tall order for Shehnai players). May be his experience as violinist helps him to do that effectively.
I really enjoyed listening to this interview comprising some relevant questions and some honest and straightforward answers.
