*"I LOVE THIS VIDEO"* I've had a 30w Fiber Laser Machine for nearly two (2) years now and haven't engraved one thing yet other than some of those black aluminum cards which seems to be the only thing I can do as a noob because I don't understand settings and the machine coming from China provides no support. YOU did a great job brother. you solved all of my laser servicing problem. i am a fiber laser cutting engineer now recently enter into laser marking too.
yeah i run a 50 watt fibre laser and have never changed those spot settings since the machine is installed, instead setting up the desired finish using speed, power and freq and controlling the mark with spot size (typically 0.04) and various forms of hatching and cross hatching say if the material coating is particulary troublesome, so 50hz delivers the most power and then upping to 80 or 90hz for a nice polish (on steel) so just as an example , 0.04 spacing, cross hatch, 3000 speed, 100% power and 50hz for taking a coating off then 0.04, single hatch, 3000, 60 power, 100hz to polish
Hello JefferyJ, excellent explanation. Would it be possible to see the parameters published for certain "colors" such as RED, YELLOW, BLUE, on stainless steel?

I was using stainless steel pieces as well but the result was different from yours. It did not show any colour. Please help.
THANK YOU - this vid is still very helpful and relevant! I'm looking for more details on how speed + power + frequency impact the depth of engraving, specifically to optimize cutting metals (no hatch, just a 0.3/0.1 wobble config'd for the pen). I can see I need to dial this in for each lens (50W JPT; f100 and f290 lenses). Do you have something like this done --OR have info on how I calculate it? 🍺🦝👍
Hello, on the Power vs speed and power vs freq the hatching is not setup. I cant seem to be able to figure out to hatch more then one item on the page. When editing the hatching parameters on right IE Speed, power and Freq then click APPLY and got on to the next and change it. After doing rows, I go back and click to check it and the last info I input in 1 box shows the same info I put in the last. If possible can you explain how to set up parameters and do hatching on the box to show different values. Thanks again for doing these they helped a lot.

Well done. We have many greens, reds and oranges at 25% power in the .0005 and .001 line space range. Wobble is used to thicken a line. It will allow the laser to deviate from the 'on screen' path by an amount you set to gain thickness or coverage. Frequency controls the number of pulses in a period of time - the higher this number is set, the less destructive each pulse will be.

Hi Jeffery, Thanks for the video, it is very helpful. I am looking to do darkish marking stainless steel with a 30 watt fibre laser (it is MOPA) however I need it to be a durable mark. It is for a kitchenware product that will be used almost daily and be cleaned in a dishwasher. I don't mind if it fades a little over time but it must be durable enough to be distinguishable and not flake like MOPA laser annealing can over time. Do you have any ideas or know of a good resource for this? Cheers, Jason

I suspect if the material you're marking is stainless, it's not the problem. My laser is only a 20w so it's likely you need to reduce the power on your 30w system for each hatch in the grid (especially if your marking field is the same, or smaller, than my 150mm area).
@@jefferyj great tip. Yes marking area 100×100 i will work on reducing power and see how it goes
@JefferyJ .. Thank you for your tip .. it really worked I changed the settings to 800 speed 10% power.. also I Noticed if you make it out of focus by 1-2 mm you get really well defined colors check it out ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Ua910fea9c6484b79b931227ada55c5cbg.jpg
Great video but I got quastion: so I got 2x fibers one 50w and other is 20w but 20w got 1-1000 freq. Where do I use this and for what?
The 20w almost more powerful that 50w China model and 20 w is TurcMark sos laser.
It probably be setting issues.
What is the pulse duration here?
How it come the blue 🔵colour in marking
Download the file; you should be able to see the settings used.
Does someone has made the file for Minilase XL *.pse File? 🙂
Hey Jeffry, I am trying to put a black mark on 11 ga. mirrored Bronze plaque. The size of the plaque is 11.5"x 7.625" almost the size of a sheet of paper. I am brand new at this. I just bought my 60 watt Fiber MOPA Laser. any help with settings or if a plaque this big can even get a black mark would be appreciated. I am using a 300x300mm lens by the way. Thank you
FYI I tried to email you but it came back as undeliverable
Hi Jeffery, Thanks for the video, it is very helpful. I am looking to do darkish marking stainless steel with a 30 watt fibre laser (it is MOPA) however I need it to be a durable mark. It is for a kitchenware product that will be used almost daily and be cleaned in a dishwasher. I don't mind if it fades a little over time but it must be durable enough to be distinguishable and not flake like MOPA laser annealing can over time. Do you have any ideas or know of a good resource for this?
Cheers, Jason
Hi Jason - I don't have enough experience with long term durability of annealed black marks on stainless to give you a good answer. I'm curious though, how many washes does the mark stand up to until it is damaged? I may experiment with this...
Do you have a Mopa ? E or M laser
Hi,
Newb here. Where do you get the image for running the test engravings that you did? I have my OMTECH 20W fiber laser being delivered today and could use all the help I can get. Thanks
Hi do you have the test grid file for that please..
There is another video called Download EzCad Test Grids Here.
Hey Jeff, thanks for the video but do you have any specific parameters for marking plastic? I tried the ones in this video and it didn’t come out as a clear mark it was more of a burnt mark.. can you help me out? Thanks
Check out these two videos if you haven't already: th-cam.com/video/yQflgf5ylJg/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/eywQfOA7kic/w-d-xo.html Some of those settings may be useful to you. If your laser is more powerful, tweak the power and speed settings.
Can you provide the EZCAD file with the test pattern? I'd like to try it on my machine
