Florian W well if it’s hound tribal you only have Isamaru, Hound of Konda (white) and Mowu, Loyal Companion (Green). Sadly no non token legendary wolves.
The most recent printing of dryad arbor does not have any rules text but it has a land type and a color indicator. Feel like it deserves at least a shout out.
My leatherback boloths have literally been banned from my kitchen magic playgroup, lol. Two of them on the board with a llanowar elf and it's 21 trample damage with a turn 4 overwhelming stampede. Unstoppable when I first started playing with mates back in 2010. Always wondered how far the deck could go in modern
I want to create a format where only Vanilla Creatures are allowed, really just a fun but possibly competitive idea. Playing with other spells and enchantments, etc. Allowing more than four copies would be allowed for creatures, maybe eight.
Me and my friends are doing that now. I have three different vanilla merfolk. One is of the pearl trident and I have 3 of them. Maritime guard is probably the best vanilla merfolk a 1/3 for one and a blue.
I would also keep an eye on isamaru because of mox amber because I could see an abzan list with it, rhys, oviya, and tasigur, but I can easily see kytheon being more popular in mox amber decks than isamaru.
If we're talking about vanilla creatures that were powerful entirely because of their type, Metallic Sliver > Fresh Volunteers. The fresh volunteers stayed a 2/2. The metallic sliver became a flying, first striking, trampling beast that tapped for a mana.
In a vacuum, merfolk of the pearl trident is strictly worse than cephalid snitch, but merfolk of the trident actually saw play while the snitch made it onto wedge’s worst cards of all time list.
You're thinking of Zurgo, bell ringer. He never became a Khan when Sharkhan reversed time to bring back the rule of the dragons/ being Ugin back from the dead. Helmshamsher is the 7/2 haster.
I suspect Leatherback Baloth and Kalonian Tusker might become more popular if Ghalta, Primal Hunger decks start being a thing. But there's probably still better creatures to pick.
It wasn't. But it has 0 points. It would definitely make the bottom part of the list, though. There's a chance maybe it sees play before it rotates out of Standard.
The world has changed. One mana 2/1 use to be the mosr aggressive one drop ever. Now we get one mana 2/1s with upside at uncommon. So, power creep basically.
the best mana dork is clearly birds of paradise, so its gonna be boring, lanowar elves ans elvend druid and arbor elf will be on the list to thats for sure...
In terms of Magic's history, yup. Obviously the Baloth is better - I said as much - but my lists are "top 10 in Magic's competitive history," it is interesting to talk about WHY the inferior cards saw play.
Rob Millington A 4/5 for 3 is way better than a 1/5 for 2, even though a 1/5 for 2 blocks a 4/5 for 3. A 1/5 is just a wall, and doesn't do much of anything. Walls aren't that good, except for really strong ones (Wall of Denial) or have other upsides (Wall of Omens). A 4/5 stomps through most decks and needs to be answered with double-blocks and removal spells. I understand why the 1/5 saw play and the 4/5 didn't, but if both were reprinted, I think the 4/5 would be much more likely to see play.
I was going to come down here and complain that ornithopter wasn't here... "it's like phyrexian walker but it... flies... Oh right duh."
Mark Tchadej oh, oops
Almost did that on the merfolk.... flying men are the same price/stats but with flying... oh yeah....
I was thinking the same- 'why the hell is memnite here and not ornitho- oh, flying... yeah'
I almost did too. Glad you're the top comment! :P
i guess it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to watch newly released tv shows online?
Hey man, now we got Gigantosauras in M19, GGGGG for a 10/10
And once it's played all you opponent can say is GG.
@@The_Evening_Sun 1B : Cast down :)
its a gigantic vanilla dino.
@@The_Evening_Sun put removal in your decks good lord,
Fear my 1 mana 10/10 Ghoultree!
Surprisingly interesting for a list that's so.... vanilla.
Yeah it needs some chocolate syrup or something
I accutualy prefer vanilla ice cream then chocolate ice cream
Isamaru, doge tribal commander
Do you have a decklist?
Because doggos are awesome
Giving swords to a dog. What could go wrong?
You can only play white doggos, that's not a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Florian W well if it’s hound tribal you only have Isamaru, Hound of Konda (white) and Mowu, Loyal Companion (Green).
Sadly no non token legendary wolves.
Isamaru was my first Voltron commander. Nothing like hitting someone on turn two for commander damage.
James Miller and now, there's skullbriar...
Skullbriar does not cost 1 nor can deal 2 commander dmg on turn 2...
#puppervoltron
Been very excited for this list. It did not disappoint!
Can you add top 10 chocolate creatures to the next poll?
Is this a real thing?
Tom Daniel no it’s not
@@tomdaniel872 creatures of color
WAISIS
I prefer caramel
Also worth noting that Phyrexian Walker has one of my favorite flavor texts ever.
Been waiting for a top vanilla creatures video from someone so I’m glad I discovered your channel sir
>no yargle
Terrible list

Wasn't released at the time of this video. I was going to say that same about Gigantosaurus, but that also wasn't released yet

I would love to see a top 10 first strike. It's one of my favorite abilities, and there are some nasty first strikers out there.
precinct captain
Master of Cruelties
Youthful Knight
Glissa
>explicitly lays out how he scores the cards in the intro
>every comment is requesting their favorite vanilla creature
When I started to play magic in 2001, Savannah Lions used to be "great" in mono white decks
"You think a 3/3 for 2 is broken? Let's make a 1/1 for 0!" xD
The most recent printing of dryad arbor does not have any rules text but it has a land type and a color indicator. Feel like it deserves at least a shout out.
I used to love Craw Wurm and Ironroot Treefolk back in the day!
Scaled Wurm was my favorite vanilla wurm.
Obviously won't be winning any Pro Tours, but no shoutouts to Infinity Elemental?
That's an Un card :(
“Afffinity is a top tier deck in modern and likely always will be” if only he knew :(
tempered steel would need to be MEGA-BANNED in a vanilla-only format. swing in with my 6/6 ornithopters, memnites, walkers, etc.
Memnite Shyamalan!
*Cocoa Pebbles Deck* “Heyyyy Fred, I play Phyrexian Walker, a-hee-hee-hee” “BAAH-NEEEEY!”
Oh my goodness.
I was texting back someone when you said "Woolly Thoctar", and my brain heard "Woolly Fucktard" 😂😭
Tomato, tomahto
Quit texting hairy people
4:05 I can confirm it sounds like fucktard.
the merfolk on Merfolk of the Pearl Trident is supposed to look like Leonard Nemoy as Spock. Check out the final line of the flavor text :P
The first creature card I got was a merfolk of the pearl trident in the dollar tree random packs. Its still in my merfolk deck today.
Watching in 2018 oh boy do I have some news
10/10 for 5 green mana
Muraganda Petroglyphs for the win
I would also keep an eye on isamaru because of mox amber because I could see an abzan list with it, rhys, oviya, and tasigur, but I can easily see kytheon being more popular in mox amber decks than isamaru.
Yeah will be interesting to see if legendary decks become a thing in Modern and other formats thanks to Amber.
If we're talking about vanilla creatures that were powerful entirely because of their type, Metallic Sliver > Fresh Volunteers.
The fresh volunteers stayed a 2/2. The metallic sliver became a flying, first striking, trampling beast that tapped for a mana.
Yeah but Rebels was a relevant deck on the premier level
I have so waiting for this.
My favorite is Norwood Ranger. 1/2 for one green mana. Simple, clean, can take a ping.
and then lots of 1/2 G elves with abilities too does step into the scene .. without being used; at all
sadly
Memnite was fine in my Voltron deck. Once the equipments out, put it on with special effects.
Ahhh... magic at its simplest and finest!
gigantosaurus... 5 for a 10/10 vanilla???
was released like 2 or 3 months after this
Gigantosaurus will always be my special winner.
MY BOY KALONIAN TUSKER! Love him in my mono green stompy modern
gigantosaurus tho, if you make a green stompy deck and splash white for on serra's wings its really good, plus its very good on its own anyways
Didn't exist when I made this video.
In a vacuum, merfolk of the pearl trident is strictly worse than cephalid snitch, but merfolk of the trident actually saw play while the snitch made it onto wedge’s worst cards of all time list.
Top 10 Best/worst vanilla creatures are my favourite lists, because it shows Magic at its purest form
Aż always - great vid
Zurgo, Helmsmasher is actually a 1 mana 2/2 with no downside (legendary aside.)
You're thinking of Zurgo, bell ringer. He never became a Khan when Sharkhan reversed time to bring back the rule of the dragons/ being Ugin back from the dead. Helmshamsher is the 7/2 haster.

Best top 10 EVER!!!
Is there a creature with no effects and no flavour text?
The five full art vanillas from Future Sight.
Loved elite vanguard in m10
Please make a Top 10 Melvin cards video!
Storm crow. It untaps every single turn and it combos with force of will and razor boomerang. I’m predicting a legacy ban very soon
Haven’t watched yet, but I hope Yargl is on the list!
Good vid, as usual 😉
I am surprised metallic sliver didn’t make the list
I suspect Leatherback Baloth and Kalonian Tusker might become more popular if Ghalta, Primal Hunger decks start being a thing. But there's probably still better creatures to pick.
Yeah I don't think that's going to happen in Modern, though I could be wrong.
Glory seeker (2/2 for 1 white and 1 colorless) isn't bad considering it is a human soldier.
What's the name of the song used for the intro?
Rooting for grizzly bears!!! Let's go!!
Any reason why memnite is no 1 and phyrexian walker no 8?
Memnite has seen way more play. Its there on the screen.
My bad, thought they were ranked after how good they were
Well, Memnite is arguably better too because it works so much better in Affinity decks in Modern.
Where can I can some vanilla land cards?
What are the 10 best creatures with flying and no other abilities? I imagine Ornithopter would be #1. (Storm Crow, of course, would be #0.)
I think it would be fun if they made cards that gave vanilla cards abilities
Actually, there's a green enchantment granting +2/+2 to all your vanilla creatures
it does not grants abilities, but still usefull
Does the 5 green mana 10/10 make the cut now?
It hasn't been around long enough but probably
lets not forget about *the infinity elemental*
You got the wrong cereal for number 8. 😁
You forget about Grizzly Bears.
Nope.
Ornithopter and Isamaru, calling them
Nvm, ornithopter flies. Oops.
Have you done exile yet?
No. Kind of a tricky one to do, since exile appears in so many different contexts. Could do "exile removal" or something.
Memnite the best, specially if you topdeck it after cast a Worldfire.
Where would Yargle fit in this list?
Nowhere because he will never see play outside of Limited
Pirexian walker = skeletor’s tarantula
Gigantosaur would probably make this list now.
Juzam Djinn though :D
Was gigantosaurus out back then? I think it's clearly number 1 now
It wasn't. But it has 0 points.
It would definitely make the bottom part of the list, though. There's a chance maybe it sees play before it rotates out of Standard.
Memnite is clearly a more busted card.
For your number 2 spot, why is Savannah Lions a rare and the other 2 uncommon?
The world has changed. One mana 2/1 use to be the mosr aggressive one drop ever. Now we get one mana 2/1s with upside at uncommon. So, power creep basically.
Nizzahon Magic Thank you for the info my friend.
i love wooly thoctar!
You should update this list with "Gigantosaurus"
I wonder how Gigantosaur and Yargle would fare here
I fucking *love* Memnites
Yo your channel is the bees knees
But have you seen Yargl?
Dude, what about dryad arbor?
Memnite is the only 0 cost creature with power, please tell wizards to fix so I can have a deck of nothing but 0 cost creatures.
No mogg fanatic?
Not a vanilla creature.
gigantosaurus best card in the game
Disappointed "Literally every vanilla bear" didn't make the list
Yargle
Bears? Bears.
Bears.
Gigantosaurus?
Gigantasourus
Wheres storm crow
Fire elemental...?
How is a 5-mana 5/4 remotely good these days?
Free casting.....? Idk actuallu
Gigantosaurus is the best
5 manna 10/10 is out bby
Isamaru = best commander
Gigantosaurus ftw
the best mana dork is clearly birds of paradise, so its gonna be boring, lanowar elves ans elvend druid and arbor elf will be on the list to thats for sure...
I feel like vanilla creatures is just as predictable!
Yes there you are right :)
oh and another thing: could you make a top ten best auras?
or a top ten best lords?
No storm crow :)
Yargle is the best
1.gigantosaurus
Nah
Gigantosaurus
Ancient brontadon
Ancient Brontadon is now the biggest vanilla creature ever. So it has that going for it.
So apparently this list puts a 1/1 for 1 and a 1/5 for 2 over a 4/5 for 3
In terms of Magic's history, yup. Obviously the Baloth is better - I said as much - but my lists are "top 10 in Magic's competitive history," it is interesting to talk about WHY the inferior cards saw play.
lol a 1/1 for 0 easily beats a 4/5 for 3, same with a 1/5 for 2.
Nizzahon Magic I know, I think I've gone back and watched all of your top 10 lists haha
Nizzahon Magic Also, Leatherback Baloth will probably not see any play again because of a certain mono-green card being printed in Dominaria
Rob Millington A 4/5 for 3 is way better than a 1/5 for 2, even though a 1/5 for 2 blocks a 4/5 for 3. A 1/5 is just a wall, and doesn't do much of anything. I have Baloth
