hey guys just wanted to point out that obviously in order to remove the headlight from the car you also need to disconnect the headlamp plug and if you have headlamp washers ..you must disconnect them too... hope this helps anyone who needs to do this... if you need to actually see how top remove the headlight from the car i will do that eventually ...stay tuned for more upcoming videos
Big thanks for this excellent idea putting it in the box. I've got a CLS55 AMG and the lenses need replacing, I'll use this technique. Top video buddy keep up the good work.
Excellent video very detailed information jam packed with precision... thank you for taking the time to share this with us .... cannot wait to see what u do with the headlight... bell rung
Nice video, very helpful thanks. After taking ours off (Vito W639), we have loads of old adhesive stuck to the housing channels and are finding it almost impossible to remove, even with heat. We need to do this to get it back together nicely. Anyone got any ideas? Also, your videos would be a lot better WITHOUT the music, so that people could hear what you're saying (same for most videos with background music!)
Did this process to a Nissan altima. They no longer made HID headlamp assemblies. Had to purchase halogen and swap the lenses since I was mainly replacing the units due to oxidation of the originals. Used a heat gun in a box. Put a thermometer in the box to see the temp. Let the temp it around 230. Turned off heat gun and let sit for another 5 mins and then pryed odd the lens. Its a bit tough but as you work a flat screwdriver thorugh the adhesive, it eventually pulls apart. I did have to reheat again when some parts had extra glue that was not pulling apart easily.
noted I try make it softer or get rid of it completely ... some ppl want music some don't.. I. so torn lol.. I'll just do me ... but ye when it's important info I remove music
very true as long as ur on the ball u can find alternative ways or improvise too.. like that tool I use isn't for that purpose but I used it to help pry the lens apart
No idea i just know about 10 mins to 15 mins will do then u give it a go seperating and if it comes apart easy ur good if not then cpl more mins til its easier
Hello good morning, I'm from Milan Italy 🇮🇹. congratulations for the video. Unfortunately this morning due to snow I broke my only the plastic of the left front light .... Everything else works correctly ..... I ask you for a link where to buy the cover safely. Thanks Fabio.
@user-hd6fe3dl7o as long as preface wil be same shape.. but remember there is coupe version and version ith halogen and bixenon version.. depends what packages ur car have
. i didnt have to buy the lens i only bought a new backing case the black plastic casing .... but i have seen lenses before for sale on ebay and aliexpress and alibaba ...
no sorry I mainly did w204 and w203 although it would be similar technique . as all headlights are put together with mastic that seals the headlight from moisture and dust etc
ye might seem weird and hard but its very easy to disconnect you just lift the lever and disconnect i ll show in the next video i release today about replacing ballast
@@investor.z ye sorry bout that mate...it's because I didn't use an actual setting it was done by trial and error I kept checking if it would seperate and eventually it did...some ppl use the oven which is more equal heat... as u saw it did it really ghetto but as long as it heats up a d u don't direct heat to any part as it can melt the part
oh that's actually a trim clip removal tool .. but u don't need it .. u cab just use your bare hands after u have heated up the mastic / headlight sealant enough it will come apart easily
"A box that can be used to evenly heat the entire headlight" - like an oven? How high of a temperature would be needed to loosen the mastic without damaging the plastic? My heat gun is almighty 600°f on the lowest setting, so it'll melt plastic if you're not extremely careful.
@@MIKEYZVLOGZ I put mine in the oven on 225°f for about 20 minutes.. There was enough residual heat to remove the old lens and install the new one without re-heating it. I definitely want to reiterate how important it is to NOT wipe the shiny bits with anything - even a soft cloth dampened with water can still cause it to come off. I sprayed them with a mild soap solution, then fresh water, and let them air dry.
I've tried just about every method on TH-cam. Still not able to get the old lens off. I even let it stay in the oven for over 20 minutes at 270° F.... Still nothing. So frustrating.
@@jonwill84 ok try to understand it like this...all that is holding the lens together is the mastic black sticky material... wen that heats up it gets soft and allows you to pull apart the headlight ... u just need some help use a scre driver and push it in and break it apart to start it off ...it really does come apart quite well once heated enough
Ye I was trying to accompany someone else's comment of try using background music ..now I don't use it at all cuz ppl need to hear wat I'm saying to understand
ye only realised after uploading ... my bad .. try with subtitles for parts u can't hear ... in future videos I get rid of music and sometimes don't even use it
I don't understand what you mean when you say "the front bar"? In either case, this sounds way to complicated. Sounds like it would be better just to take it to a qualified mechanic and have new headlights installed.
front bar is front bumper..short for front bumper bar... if u have the money to spend ..then yea why not take it to mercedes ... but I guess not everyone has that kind of money so this is to try help them diy

no 2011 is facelift ..that has the led strip in the headlight ..mine is 2010 and under called prefacelift..and thanks for saying that
@MIKEYZVLOGZ mine is 2011 and is not facelift. It has been the same since 2007 to 2011.

@MIKEYZVLOGZ if is prefacelift c63 amg, will it use the same lens as any w204 before the facelift?

Hey, do you have a video on how to remove the headlight glass from a mercedes w212 facelifting model?
😊😊😊
no sorry I mainly did w204 and w203 although it would be similar technique . as all headlights are put together with mastic that seals the headlight from moisture and dust etc
Do you have to remove the old glue before replacing the new lens cover
as long as its not dirty and contaminated you can use it again just apply more of the headlight sealant (d-mastic)
nice, eventually i will just replace my headlights but the plug is kinda weird to disconnect. thanks for your videos@
ye might seem weird and hard but its very easy to disconnect you just lift the lever and disconnect i ll show in the next video i release today about replacing ballast

yes definitely
its a wonder you didnt black the chrome for that C63 look.
Is it common for people to refer to bumpers as bars? I've never heard that before I must be out of the loop if it is. Lol
yeah here we say front bar rear bar for rear bumper

My heat gun is almighty 600°f on the lowest setting, so it'll melt plastic if you're not extremely careful.
ye that's why u need to ensure u don't face it directly at the headlight lens and only do it til it starts to seperate ..it's a trial and error thing
