More than 95%+ of r*pe happens to women by men. Dress codes are stricter for women bc they are more sexualised. I wish Stolas was as caring to Via as Blitzø is to Loona, especially because Loona is older than Octavia and she’s also way more aggressive ( ? I guess ) than her. when Stolas was obsessing over Blitzø / arguing with Stella, he was completely neglectful and dismissive towards Via’s emotions even tho the trip to loo loo land was originally supposed to be to cheer her up. but when Blitzø was upset over what happened with Stolas after their date at Ozzie’s he still immediately went to pick up Loona from Beelzebub’s party.
Honestly fair point. Blitzø is willing to put aside everything for Loona. He had a meltdown on his dream stage at the though of Loona being taken away. He was willing to put his work and everything aside to give Loona a shot for her health. Blitzø is hundred times better parent than Stolas

Fr. It's so easy to call out blitzo because his stuff is obvious. Blitzo isn't a good person at all. He stalks his co-workers and steps their boundaries many times, and he's kinda creepy, and he's hurt people. BUT! Blitzo is gonna change. In an apology tour, we see blitzo talk about genuinely being sorry and that he wants to change. Meanwhile, stolas get babied by the Fandom and the writers, and because of this, stolas doesn't get any character development.
I wish people also called out Stolas' mistreatment of the imps too. He throws the staff around like ragdolls and literally talks down to Millie and Moxie "Not you guys! I wanted Blitzy to save me! Not you little ones!" How do you think Blitz feels when he sees Stolas mistreating his employees for being imps? How do you think he feels seeing him toss his butlers around because they're "just imps". They point out the clear power imbalance between Stolas and Blitz repeatedly. During Blitz dr*g trip he has a hallucination of being chained and collared like a dog at Stolas feet. He considers teaming up with striker because he resents the fact he's forced to serve stolas for the book (monthly hook ups). The grimoires is literally necessary for his source of income. Blitz sees the relationship as purely transactional BECAUSE he is an imp! Also the self loathing and being unable to think Stolas really loves him, but I'm focusing on the imp thing. When Stolas gets called out for it by Blitz his response was: "I don't see you like that" but he literally treats him like that. Throughout the early episodes most of their interactions were purely s*xual. Of course Blitz felt that way! What I'm trying to say is, I wish people held Stolas accountable too

This show is so well written in the worst way possible. It clearly sets up Stolas as a horrible person (like he was originally intended) and they WANT to make it funny and seem quirky. Certain scenes are funny to me, but that’s because they’re absurd. Like, it’s obvious Stolas is the bad guy and he’s just *that* bad of a guy to everyone it shocks you and makes you laugh (like when he’s on the phone with Blitzø and Octavia). But with the idea that they want it to be funny AND make Stolas seem like he’s in the right, it’s bad. This entire show can be easily fixed if the intention is to show how a manipulative person in power can remain in power, guilt trip you and not change, but still get what they want and the ending is to show that while Blitzø did things wrong, he isn’t the ONLY one in the wrong. The idea of Stolitz being the end goal is horrendous. I’d love for Blitzø to realize he wasn’t the only one in the wrong with his relationship and become a better person from THAT rather than be guilt tripped and ripped on by everyone saying that it’s HIS fault alone. AND PLEASE BLITZØ ADOPT OCTAVIA YOU’RE A MUCH BETTER FATHER THAN STOLAS SHE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER

I’m really hoping the stolitz story up to this point was one big set up and Viv is going to pull the rug out from under us in season 3 and turn it all on it’s head and finally portray Stolas in the way he’s supposed to be 😂 After all, Viv did say that the pilot portrayed Stolas as a villain because that’s what he was originally meant to be…but he doesn’t act any different now from the pilot. I think a lot of the nuances in stolas's family in season 1 was essentially revamped or ruined in season 2. We see that with stella and how stolas treats via.
Based on some leak storyboards. Octavia will get mad at her “dad” but it’ll be painted as a way where it’ll futher victimize Stolas. As I believed Octavia was manipulated by Stella and her brother Which makes me mad since Octavia has reason to be angry but the show won’t allow her to without babying Stolas even more

I unfortunately saw leaks of the final episode of season 2, but they made me think about a big difference between Stolas and Blitzø: how they handle fatherhood. And the main aspect is that unlike what Stolas has done with Octavia, Blitzø has *NEVER* put Stolas or anything else above Loona. Everything that happened at Ozzie’s left Blitzø feeling depressed about his relationship with Stolas, but he put that all aside once he recieved a call from Loona saying she wanted to come home from a party. He dropped everything and was there in a matter of minutes. When Stolas was kidnapped in Western Energy, Blitzø tried to ignore it (granted, neither he nor Stolas understood the severity of the situation at that point) because he had to help a terrified Loona get a vaccine. He sent Moxxie and Millie to rescue him, while he stayed with Loona to comfort her before getting her shot. He even actively avoids exposing Loona to his relationship with Stolas because it shouldn’t be something she’s a part of. And you know what? Loona has *NEVER* doubted whether or not Blitzø loves her. She even calls him “dad,” and this is with the knowledge that she was adopted when she was pretty much a full-grown adult. Stolas, however, has put his relationship with Blitzø, and his divorce proceedings, above his care for Octavia. Stolas brought Via to Loo Loo Land as a way to get her out of the house and spend time with her, but he instead spent it teasing Blitzø and playing the damsel in distress just so Blitzø could “save” him. He also forgot about his promise to see Azathoth’s tears with her in favor of being petty while moving Stella’s stuff out. And, he doesn’t care about exposing Octavia to his relationship with Blitzø, even making very vulgar remarks while being perfectly aware of her presence (the only man who can f*ck me, my big-d*cked-Blitzy). And, unlike Loona, all of this has left Octavia doubting whether or not her father loves her. *LEAK SPOILERS BELOW* That’s why Loona is still with her father, while Octavia left hers behind.

He even stayed married to Stella just so she could have a normal childhood. Stella stayed married to Stolas just to continue her lavish lifestyle. And even at the studio, before Blitzø went on stage, Stolas said to hurry it up so they could continue their search for his daughter. The reason they ended up their to begin with was because they were kidnapped and couldn’t cause too much of a scene in public, otherwise Blitzø’s cover would have been blown and the whole “demon” thing would have been revealed. Not to mention Stolas (even if he was disguised as a human) would have been in trouble too because he would come across as a human who knows about demons and kept it a secret.

"Trying" is something you do for peers and superiors the child should be "Trying" The parent on the other hand needs to be "DOING", for a Parent trying isnt good enough. "Trying" does not wash away a life time of misery from a stunted growth in the formative years of your childs development. If you would put ANYTHING before your child as a parent then you do not deserve to be one. Wether you discipline or nurture your child, and however way you maintain your own physical and mental health, it should always FIRST be in service to THEIR developmental well being as they mature into adulthood, and always second, if not NEVER, for your own convenience. Example, if you drink to destress and be less hostile towards your own child telling yourself "Its for THEIR sake", that is a habit they will see and pick up on. They will internalize you using alcohol as a shortcut to achieving mental wellness. *_This will stunt their growth._* Parenting is a responsibility that demands excellency, its just a sad fact of life that majority of parents that exist do not meet that standard. _Stolas is one of them._

Literally concerned about how fucked this man is (not literally, because we know how). The marriege itself ruined Octavia's life, and then keeps making it worse with Blitzø's deal. Like dude, keep your dignity atleast on your daughter's face.
I really like and relate to Octavia as a character. In my opinion, she is one of the most interesting people in the Hellaverse. The problem is that we never really get to see her personality on full display. In every episode she has appeared in, the reason she is there always ties back to Stolas. She is always being used as a plot device to help further the notion that Stolas has screwed up as a father in some way. Which is true, he has screwed up. Stolas constantly proves time and time again that he lacks the empathy and thought to give his daughter the attention she deserves and to see things from her perspective. He never spends any time with her and is very neglectful, he constantly fights with or insults Stella with Octavia present with no regards as to how this could make Octavia feel, and the fact that he openly talks about sex in front of her when she is a minor and asexual is disgusting. The way Stolas acts around Octavia is really disturbing and she must feel so lonely as it seems like her father never makes the effort to spend any time with her. But having a strained relationship with Stolas can't be all there is to her character. In my opinion, Octavia should get her own focus episode where her relationship with Stolas isn't the central plot. Or an episode in which she finally puts her foot down and has a proper talk with Stolas about his behaviour and how it makes her feel. I really want to see her open up again similarly to how she did with Loona in Seeing Stars and would love to learn more about who she is as an individual. I think this could be accomplished by having Loona also be a part of the episode as I feel like they have a sisterly type of bond. After sorting out her relationship with Stolas, we could maybe get to see more of what she is like seperate from him. I would also like to see Stella and Octavia interacting more as we never really see the type of relationship they have. I always hear people saying that Stolas is a better parent than Stella because he puts more effort into being a father. But I don't understand this take because we haven't really ever seen Octavia and Stella Interact on screen, so we don't know how good Octavia's relationship with her mother is compared to her father. I think people mainly say this to try to make Stolas seem like a better parent and person than he actually is because they know he isn't good at being either. I also think they say this to make Stella look like more of a villain to fit their 'Stolas is a victim who can't do anything wrong' narrative and downplay his shitty actions. Honestly I just hope we get to see more of Octavia in the near future as she seems like one of the most underused and underappreciated characters in Helluva Boss. But the writers don't seem to know what to do with her character which is upsetting as I think she has so much potential. I really hope she stands up for herself and her boundaries eventually because I am honestly sick of how bad of a father Stolas is. (Also i hope you have fun at NYCC! Your cosplays always look so cool!!)

Yeah. What annoyed me to was how he also immediately got pissy that Blitz didn't tell him he was almost killed by the same assassin earlier, which.....buddy, YOU DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE YOU WERE IN DANGER. You literally just wanted Blitz to come dashing in like it was loo loo land, and only realized you were legit in danger when Striker actually started hurting you. Neither of you thought your ass could get hurt, and even if it's pointed out Blitz knew he had an angelic.rifle, he didn't know he had other angelic weaponry because at that time, Striker only used fists and his normal knife. And the rifle itself got confiscated by Moxxie, so....what the fuck is the issue. The whole arguement was just Stolas blaming or tearing into Blitz over stuff he could barely if even be held accountable for, and Blitz not even trying to really defend himself or call Stolas out because he got too emotional
Her Seeing Stars scene with Loona hit close to home for me and not even in the way they intended (out of everything it’s surprisingly the meteor shower line) which is sad but funny. Stolas’ behavior would make their shared scenes tragically realistic if it weren’t for the writers constantly ignoring his flaws because “it’s ok, Stella’s horrible!” or “it’s ok, we need more Stolitz fanservice!” It’s also ironic he was upset with Blitz when Blitz was getting an important shot for his daughter. Even though Stolas didn’t know, the irony that Blitz would put his own daughter over Stolas meanwhile he’s busy openly flirting for an entire day with an affair partner in front of Octavia is too insane to ignore.
I said this elsewhere, but there was a LOT of missed potential in Seeing Stars. From someone giving Loona a reality check with realizing all the good Blitz does for her compared to Octavia, and Loona, and Octavia, finding each other far earlier in the episode because Loona feels like finding her will put her back in Blitz's good graces (judging from the fight earlier in the episode). Loona and Octavia have a "Girls Day Out" together (would be better than more Stolitz confusion and relatively pointless Sitcom shenanigans), and both of them develop in opposing ways (Loona appreciates Blitz more after realizing it, while Octavia starts to feel more distant from Stolas because of his behavior).

After all Loona and Octavia are in the thumbnail of the episode yet don’t get the screen time they need because the episode is crammed with Stolitz. Seeing Stars is honestly one of the episodes with the greatest potential for its characters but falls flat cause it’s trying to cram too many stories into one.

Stolas made octavia's life worse with his affair. And it happened when she was 17. Both blitz and stolas were depressed after a failed date at ozzie's. But blitz put all his feelings aside, came to the party the minute loona called him, and was there for her when she needed him. While stolas dissmissed octavia's words and feelings and was too busy fighting w stella instead of listening to his child. Blitz prioritized loona's health and safety over stolas' in Western Energy. He was there to comfort and help her, and this shot was very important for her. And he still sent M&M to save stolas i mind you, he still cares, he just puts his xhild over anyrhing else. While stolas was goofing around with blitz when his own kid WENT MISSING. Why didn't he use his powers to escape? This talk could develope their characters ao much. And it would be a perfect foreshadowing for [spoilers] Octavia leaving stolas and calling hin out.

Really love this review!! As a child of divorce with daddy issues, I’m sick and tired of other Stolas fans defending his actions. While he is a gay man with childhood trauma, that still doesn’t excuse his negligence towards his daughter in any way, shape or form. Although I am admittedly a Stolas fan myself (because I kinda relate to him at times and I find him entertaining), I also understand why people don’t like his character. Hell, sometimes I even consider him to be my guilty pleasure character. Even though I sympathize with him, an explanation of someone’s actions doesn’t equate to a justification of their actions.

I think part of the reason people think of Stolas as a good dad is because he looks better than most of the dads on the show. Blitz’s dad was willing to sell Blitz to Paimon, and his reaction when he thought Paimon wanted Fizz tells you grievous bodily harm was something he fully expected to happen to whoever got sold. Moxxie’s father was also willing to kill his son and sell him for money. By comparison Stolas ignoring his daughter’s feelings but generally keeping her safe looks good. But yeah Stolas is definitely not a good dad. Especially when we can see how much Blitz cares for Loona even though she’s only his adopted daughter. I agree it would be nice to see Octavia rebel. They haven’t really shown us any interaction between Stella and Octavia. We know Stolas has no problem letting Octavia stay with her mother, because he tells Blitz that Octavia is at her mother’s when he invites Blitz over after the date at Ozzie’s, so while she may not be a great mother Stolas doesn’t consider her a threat to Octavia. We also know Octavia is upset by the divorce in general which to me suggests she has a good relationship with both parents. The only time we see Stella have any sort of negative behavior toward Octavia is when she tells Stolas to go comfort Octavia when Octavia is calling for Stella. A lot of people say this is Stella being neglectful, but she might have just had a bad night and been tired. Also I’m kind of impressed that in all of Stella’s anger towards Stolas she’s never once thought of murdering Blitz for seducing her husband even though it would probably be very easy for her.
Dude, I can't help but feel bad for Octavia. People keep on sympathizing with Stolas while ignoring how much he emotionally neglected her, and even talked sexually around her. That sorta stuff leaves an impact on you and not a good one. Octavia deserves better and shouldn't be blamed by the fandom just because her father makes her depressed and it causes her to lash out. I know she's 17, but she's still a minor and has probably been neglected for most of her teen and pre-teen years, IF not her whole life.
not really, stolas only recently started doing things against his family's favor lol. which is why she's shocked with his behavior and thinks he "might go somewhere she can't find him", she trusted stolas and now it's odd he's doing this. stolas didn't have anything in his life to put before octavia, until blitz came in.

Even then, Stolas is still neglecting her, and saying that it happened when Blitzø came along seems kind of inconsiderate when you're reminded that Stella and Stolas have had high tension in their relationship all this time. Yes, it's Stella's fault, but there could've been more instances of Stolas neglecting Octavia that we haven't seen. Given by the way she acts after all, it seems like sort of a reoccurring thing.
@@KattinIsBrocken i don't think stella and stolas had the high tension going on for 17 years (in front of via to observe), she does say "when my parents didn't hate each other" and stolas doesn't seem the type to make the abuse visible to octavia, as he states he endured it only for octavia to have a normal life. octavia was under the impression that she had a loving family until stolas ruined her family by cheating on her mother. that's all she knows. i mean, maybe her mother neglected her, maybe her dad did treat her badly in the past too (even though i don't think that's the case) we don't know that but i don't think it occured often before he discovered he could do something for himself once and chase blitz's company (in the worst ways possible but not today's topic to handle)

You know what’s sad? Lord garmadon is probably a better father to Lloyd than stolas is to Octavia. You know, Goofy taking Max to a theme park while not realizing he's not a child anymore, he has different interests now. i honestly relate to octavia because of how stolas basically neglects her and cares for blitz WAY MORE than his own daughter. he is a terrible father, yet another reason why I’ve always hated him.
The truth is, Stolas is NOT a terrible father. He's not a GOOD father, or a GREAT father, but he's not a bad or terrible one. He's just a HEAVILY FLAWED father in desparate need of a wake-up call.
Stolas wants to be part of Octavia's world, but he's destructively impulsive and tied up in the thing he thinks will fix the life he gave away to Stella. He needs to SHOW Octavia that he will make an effort to be a supportive and present parent to a daughter whose family is being torn apart in front of her, if he even has any chance left, which it seems currently Octavia has given up on.
I love and hate Stolas at the same time. I love him because of Bryce Pinkham's INCREDIBLE voice acting/singing and the character design, And hate him because of his personality. I agree with EVERYTHING you said in the video - Stolas is the character who had lines that made me feel very uncomfortable. I do like Stolas - he's one of my favorite characters, but I refuse to defend his actions. He is in DESPERATE need of character development. I feel so sorry for Via.. That moment when you realize that Paimon and Stolas parent in the exact same way, just that Paimon's style is less sugarcoated. Hell, you can make the argument that Paimon, even while being an obviously bad person and father was still more attentive to Stolas's interests than Stolas is to Octavia's.
Paimon was busy and businesslike, Stolas just likes airing his dirty laundry out in front of his child. They are not the same. Also, Paimon never made false promises, was honest about family matters without being too emotional about it, and even put his whole day on hold when he saw Stolas was upset on his birthday. He also paid attention to what (and who) Stolas reacted positively to and responded accordingly. On top of that, he stayed with Stolas until his "new friend" was delivered, despite not wanting to deal with him. Paimon literally prioritized his child's feelings over his own for ONE DAY that we know of, and he did more for Stolas in that one day than we've seen Stolas do for Octavia through the whole series. With Stolas's pattern of behavior, his singing and apologizing was basically his pleasant way of saying "cease this bitch crying," except when Octavia is still sad afterwards he doesn't go the extra mile to make SURE she feels better. If I had to be raised by one or the other, I would pick Paimon over Stolas. And yet, the narrative wants us to coddle Stolas and use "his dad said bitch" as an excuse for how badly he treats Octavia.
One of hazbin amd helluva's main writing grievances is that charters you're supposed to like are hyper sexual and it's supposed to be funny but in the same show villaonous characters you are NOT supposed to like are on the same level of crass ness.

Not solely to him, Truth Seekers and Ex's and oohs had him alongside Blitz, the campers episode had the plot of Blitz's sister. Besides as a member of IMP he's closer to a main character

Whenever a character that isn't Blitz or Stolas gets an episode their storylines are always also half focused on them. And just because they are side characters that doesn't mean that they don't deserve at least one episode of their own especially when they play important part in the story or in the actions of the main characters. Loona at the least got more focus in Spring Broken and in entire Queen Bee episode, even if Blitz also later joined the party, and she isn't as prominent as Blitz , Stolas or the rest of IMP.

One thing that bugs me about Stolas is that he waited a season or two to give Blitz the crystal that'll allow him to travel legally. HE KNEW Blitz was traveling ILLEGALLY with his book. He LITERALLY got caught by humans. He didn't give him the crystal for safety but to see if Blitz would still see him or not. That's so fucking selfish of him.

Honestly I love this review of Octavia because as someone who has divorced parents when I first started watching Helluva and saw Octavia, I was hoping it would be handled better and that the show would feel like it's ignoring Stolas's actions towards Octavia. Honestly I'm so glad that there's Stolas Slander out here. Stolas is both a manipulator, in the form of apologizing or putting others down because of his status, and he's neglectful in the form of he doesn't even know what his own daughter likes or listens to. I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but when Blitz had to go on that sitcom, why did Stolas stick around so long? Like it probably lasted hours based on the reactions of the audience and he could've just left a few minutes in to go look for his daughter, but he was too busy simping.
I've seen people make memes like "Octavia when stolas doesn't pay attention to her for 2 seconds:" and it's like... That's a gross mischaracterization. Stolas went to Loo Loo Land specifically in a poor attempt to cheer up Octavia and didn't spend hardly any time talking to her or paying attention to her. She put up with it the whole episode before leaving because Stolas flirting with Blitzø and taking her to stupid childish attractions made her uncomfortable. Then, she and Stolas had an ANNUAL TRADITION of seeing the meteor shower together that she looked forward to every year. She marked it on her calendar and drew a little picture of the meteors, her, and Stolas. But then he was so busy yelling at Stella that he forgot about their tradition and wouldn't let her get a word in. Her getting fed up so quickly is likely both due to time constraints on episodes, and because this isn't a one off incident. We don't get to see a lot of the family dynamic but I'd wager Octavia gets forgotten about and brushed aside often. She has a right to feel hurt that the annual tradition she and her father had was more important to her than it was to him, that she marked it on her calendar but Stolas managed to forget.
Stolas is the worst helluva boss character imo. The way he acts around his daughter is so gross. I just.. can’t feel sympathy for him. Many would say Stella is the worst but at least she is actually portrayed as a villain. I can’t stand when a character who is clearly doing bad shit is written as the good guy and never properly called out. And so many people just eat it up.

As a child of divorce I deeply relate to Octavia It fuckin sucks that Stella is just treated as entirely evil and via just always forgives stolas which I very much do not forgive my own dad for doing very similar things. [Also side note it’s also kinda weird in how pretty much all the gay characters in helluva characters are very sexual which just feels stereotypical.] Thinking more about it stolas mirrors my own dad like a lot, maybe minus the frequent dirty talk. Personally I think I’m gonna continue to use via and stolas to help myself heal.
Stolas is a literal walking red flag People still call him the sweetest character through out the show But behind it all, Stolas is actually a selfish and manipulative character that only cares about his greed and lust Like for example, Stolas falls inlove with Blitz, try tricks to get with him which works, then breaks up with him and get with another man Stolas is kinda the reason why I ship Blitz with Fizz (I also ship them because they are cute as heck, but still) Stolas is an awful, disgusting and manipulative character in general and I don't believe it'll change for him anytime soon But let's hope that Blitz moves on and starts trying to avoid Stolas manipulative tactics and gets with someone like Fizz (If him and Ollie break up or Ollie dies which is by any chances not easy or possible for his death to happen) And maybe, hope that Blitz doesn't date anyone like Stolas or possibly Emberlynn (The simp from the 3rd short)
unfortunately dumb and dumber(viv and brandon) have manipulated their own character blitz and victimized stolas to the point where this terrible and abusive ship is now cannon.
What's made me angriest about stolas is how he was treated originally versus now. In the first season, he wanted relationships, but was a bad person and made everything about him. This made what happened in ozzie's satisfying - his actions were biting him in the ass, and he completely deserved it. But season 2 has completely rewritten it - its practically season 1 rehashed but instead, stolas is a victim, and he didn't do anything wrong - he was just trying to be happy. The problem there is that season 1 already happened, so it feels like vivzie is just gaslighting us into thinking that he is just a poor man who just wanted love and the best for his daughter, whereas in reality he was willing to sexually exploit his "lover" and neglect his daughter just so he'd feel better about himself and his own shortcomings. Most shows do move from lighthearted to serious as they go on, but they do it over multiple seasons, and complex themes are gradually introduced. Here, they were dropped on us like an anvil. And for those people saying the animation and songs are good, I say this: those things mean nothing if we don't care about the characters and the story. I used to be a fan of helluva boss, but nowadays, when I watch episodes, I watch them just once and then try to forget that they happened.

This show is so well written in the worst way possible. It clearly sets up Stolas as a horrible person (like he was originally intended) and they WANT to make it funny and seem quirky.
Certain scenes are funny to me, but that’s because they’re absurd. Like, it’s obvious Stolas is the bad guy and he’s just *that* bad of a guy to everyone it shocks you and makes you laugh (like when he’s on the phone with Blitzø and Octavia). But with the idea that they want it to be funny AND make Stolas seem like he’s in the right, it’s bad.
This entire show can be easily fixed if the intention is to show how a manipulative person in power can remain in power, guilt trip you and not change, but still get what they want and the ending is to show that while Blitzø did things wrong, he isn’t the ONLY one in the wrong.
The idea of Stolitz being the end goal is horrendous. I’d love for Blitzø to realize he wasn’t the only one in the wrong with his relationship and become a better person from THAT rather than be guilt tripped and ripped on by everyone saying that it’s HIS fault alone.
AND PLEASE BLITZØ ADOPT OCTAVIA YOU’RE A MUCH BETTER FATHER THAN STOLAS SHE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER

I unfortunately saw leaks of the final episode of season 2, but they made me think about a big difference between Stolas and Blitzø: how they handle fatherhood. And the main aspect is that unlike what Stolas has done with Octavia, Blitzø has *NEVER* put Stolas or anything else above Loona.
Everything that happened at Ozzie’s left Blitzø feeling depressed about his relationship with Stolas, but he put that all aside once he recieved a call from Loona saying she wanted to come home from a party. He dropped everything and was there in a matter of minutes. When Stolas was kidnapped in Western Energy, Blitzø tried to ignore it (granted, neither he nor Stolas understood the severity of the situation at that point) because he had to help a terrified Loona get a vaccine. He sent Moxxie and Millie to rescue him, while he stayed with Loona to comfort her before getting her shot. He even actively avoids exposing Loona to his relationship with Stolas because it shouldn’t be something she’s a part of. And you know what? Loona has *NEVER* doubted whether or not Blitzø loves her. She even calls him “dad,” and this is with the knowledge that she was adopted when she was pretty much a full-grown adult.
Stolas, however, has put his relationship with Blitzø, and his divorce proceedings, above his care for Octavia. Stolas brought Via to Loo Loo Land as a way to get her out of the house and spend time with her, but he instead spent it teasing Blitzø and playing the damsel in distress just so Blitzø could “save” him. He also forgot about his promise to see Azathoth’s tears with her in favor of being petty while moving Stella’s stuff out. And, he doesn’t care about exposing Octavia to his relationship with Blitzø, even making very vulgar remarks while being perfectly aware of her presence (the only man who can f*ck me, my big-d*cked-Blitzy). And, unlike Loona, all of this has left Octavia doubting whether or not her father loves her.

I really like and relate to Octavia as a character. In my opinion, she is one of the most interesting people in the Hellaverse. The problem is that we never really get to see her personality on full display. In every episode she has appeared in, the reason she is there always ties back to Stolas.
She is always being used as a plot device to help further the notion that Stolas has screwed up as a father in some way. Which is true, he has screwed up. Stolas constantly proves time and time again that he lacks the empathy and thought to give his daughter the attention she deserves and to see things from her perspective. He never spends any time with her and is very neglectful, he constantly fights with or insults Stella with Octavia present with no regards as to how this could make Octavia feel, and the fact that he openly talks about sex in front of her when she is a minor and asexual is disgusting.
The way Stolas acts around Octavia is really disturbing and she must feel so lonely as it seems like her father never makes the effort to spend any time with her. But having a strained relationship with Stolas can't be all there is to her character.
In my opinion, Octavia should get her own focus episode where her relationship with Stolas isn't the central plot. Or an episode in which she finally puts her foot down and has a proper talk with Stolas about his behaviour and how it makes her feel. I really want to see her open up again similarly to how she did with Loona in Seeing Stars and would love to learn more about who she is as an individual. I think this could be accomplished by having Loona also be a part of the episode as I feel like they have a sisterly type of bond. After sorting out her relationship with Stolas, we could maybe get to see more of what she is like seperate from him.
I would also like to see Stella and Octavia interacting more as we never really see the type of relationship they have. I always hear people saying that Stolas is a better parent than Stella because he puts more effort into being a father. But I don't understand this take because we haven't really ever seen Octavia and Stella Interact on screen, so we don't know how good Octavia's relationship with her mother is compared to her father. I think people mainly say this to try to make Stolas seem like a better parent and person than he actually is because they know he isn't good at being either. I also think they say this to make Stella look like more of a villain to fit their 'Stolas is a victim who can't do anything wrong' narrative and downplay his shitty actions.
Honestly I just hope we get to see more of Octavia in the near future as she seems like one of the most underused and underappreciated characters in Helluva Boss. But the writers don't seem to know what to do with her character which is upsetting as I think she has so much potential. I really hope she stands up for herself and her boundaries eventually because I am honestly sick of how bad of a father Stolas is.

Blitzø may be a shitty person, but he definitely deserves the award for best dad. Im a little annoyed how in apology tour, Blitzø gets "called out" for "not being there for him". What annoyed me to was how he also immediately got pissy that Blitz didn't tell him he was almost killed by the same assassin earlier, which.....buddy, YOU DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE YOU WERE IN DANGER. And the rifle itself got confiscated by Moxxie, so....what the fuck is the issue. The whole arguement was just Stolas blaming or tearing into Blitz over stuff he could barely if even be held accountable for, and Blitz not even trying to really defend himself or call Stolas out because he got too emotional

Her Seeing Stars scene with Loona hit close to home for me and not even in the way they intended (out of everything it’s surprisingly the meteor shower line) which is sad but funny. Stolas’ behavior would make their shared scenes tragically realistic if it weren’t for the writers constantly ignoring his flaws because “it’s ok, Stella’s horrible!” or “it’s ok, we need more Stolitz fanservice!”
It’s also ironic he was upset with Blitz when Blitz was getting an important shot for his daughter. Even though Stolas didn’t know, the irony that Blitz would put his own daughter over Stolas meanwhile he’s busy openly flirting for an entire day with an affair partner in front of Octavia is too insane to ignore.

I said this elsewhere, but there was a LOT of missed potential in Seeing Stars.
From someone giving Loona a reality check with realizing all the good Blitz does for her compared to Octavia, and Loona, and Octavia, finding each other far earlier in the episode because Loona feels like finding her will put her back in Blitz's good graces (judging from the fight earlier in the episode).
Loona and Octavia have a "Girls Day Out" together (would be better than more Stolitz confusion and relatively pointless Sitcom shenanigans), and both of them develop in opposing ways (Loona appreciates Blitz more after realizing it, while Octavia starts to feel more distant from Stolas because of his behavior).

After all Loona and Octavia are in the thumbnail of the episode yet don’t get the screen time they need because the episode is crammed with Stolitz. Seeing Stars is honestly one of the episodes with the greatest potential for its characters but falls flat cause it’s trying to cram too many stories into one.

Blitz basically saved loona's life when she was 17-18. Stolas made octavia's life worse with his affair. And it happened when she was 17.
Both blitz and stolas were depressed after a failed date at ozzie's. But blitz put all his feelings aside, came to the party the minute loona called him, and was there for her when she needed him. While stolas dissmissed octavia's words and feelings and was too busy fighting w stella instead of listening to his child.
Blitz prioritized loona's health and safety over stolas' in Western Energy. He was there to comfort and help her, and this shot was very important for her. And he still sent M&M to save stolas i mind you, he still cares, he just puts his xhild over anyrhing else.
While stolas was goofing around with blitz when his own kid WENT MISSING. Why didn't he use his powers to escape? Why was he fine with wasting hours on a cringy reality show instead of searching for his daughter??? Blitz was somehow more important to stolas than octavia. Blitz was the one who fought humans and was willing to continue their search, not stolas.
He didn't even notice dissappearance of his child at first, wtf.
Octavia always forgives her dad even when he's clearly in thw wrong, while loona is agressive to her dad (ik she loves him, i just wish she appreciated him more). This talk could develope their characters ao much. And it would be a perfect foreshadowing for [spoilers]

Really love this review!! As a child of divorce with daddy issues, I’m sick and tired of other Stolas fans defending his actions. While he is a gay man with childhood trauma, that still doesn’t excuse his negligence towards his daughter in any way, shape or form. Although I am admittedly a Stolas fan myself (because I kinda relate to him at times and I find him entertaining), I also understand why people don’t like his character. Hell, sometimes I even consider him to be my guilty pleasure character. Even though I sympathize with him, an explanation of someone’s actions doesn’t equate to a justification of their actions.

I think part of the reason people think of Stolas as a good dad is because he looks better than most of the dads on the show. Blitz’s dad was willing to sell Blitz to Paimon, and his reaction when he thought Paimon wanted Fizz tells you grievous bodily harm was something he fully expected to happen to whoever got sold. Moxxie’s father was also willing to kill his son and sell him for money. By comparison Stolas ignoring his daughter’s feelings but generally keeping her safe looks good.
But yeah Stolas is definitely not a good dad. Especially when we can see how much Blitz cares for Loona even though she’s only his adopted daughter. I agree it would be nice to see Octavia rebel. They haven’t really shown us any interaction between Stella and Octavia. We know Stolas has no problem letting Octavia stay with her mother, because he tells Blitz that Octavia is at her mother’s when he invites Blitz over after the date at Ozzie’s, so while she may not be a great mother Stolas doesn’t consider her a threat to Octavia. We also know Octavia is upset by the divorce in general which to me suggests she has a good relationship with both parents. The only time we see Stella have any sort of negative behavior toward Octavia is when she tells Stolas to go comfort Octavia when Octavia is calling for Stella. A lot of people say this is Stella being neglectful, but she might have just had a bad night and been tired. Also I’m kind of impressed that in all of Stella’s anger towards Stolas she’s never once thought of murdering Blitz for seducing her husband even though it would probably be very easy for her.
Dude, I can't help but feel bad for Octavia. People keep on sympathizing with Stolas while ignoring how much he emotionally neglected her, and even talked sexually around her. That sorta stuff leaves an impact on you and not a good one. Octavia deserves better and shouldn't be blamed by the fandom just because her father makes her depressed and it causes her to lash out. I know she's 17, but she's still a minor and has probably been neglected for most of her teen and pre-teen years, IF not her whole life.
not really, stolas only recently started doing things against his family's favor lol. which is why she's shocked with his behavior and thinks he "might go somewhere she can't find him", she trusted stolas and now it's odd he's doing this. stolas didn't have anything in his life to put before octavia, until blitz came in.

Even then, Stolas is still neglecting her, and saying that it happened when Blitzø came along seems kind of inconsiderate when you're reminded that Stella and Stolas have had high tension in their relationship all this time. Yes, it's Stella's fault, but there could've been more instances of Stolas neglecting Octavia that we haven't seen. Given by the way she acts after all, it seems like sort of a reoccurring thing.

He did, however, know Blitzos' exacts location in a different dimension, summon himself into the human world within his full demon form, _and_ create a portal back to hell all without the use of the book (which Stolas claims is the main reason for his limitation)

As someone with divorced parents and always pressured to stand up to the other parent, I feel you 😭 I'm so sorry you had to go through that, even tho I'm not forced to choose, I'm with my parents 50/50, I still feel like I'm forced to choose, my mom cares and convinces me to step out of my comfort zone and ask my dad for basic stuff that I don't have at his house, but then she goes back to shit talking him and putting me down for "defending" him
And my dad has a ego that he's the best dad in the world and yet if it's not convenient or I don't kiss up to him, he will blow up on me and lash out.

I absolutely feel TERRIBLE for her, not only is her dad selfish, aka the Loo Loo Land incident, but also how he of course, is a hypocrite, his father took him to the circus and he hated it, he took Octavia to Loo Loo Land and she hated it because she was fucking TRAUMATIZED by the Robo Fizz, and since she was a child at the time, she probably told Stolas and Stella about what happened, she looks to be around, 3-7, so that hatred and sadness stuck for like, YEARS

That moment when you realize that Paimon and Stolas parent in the exact same way, just that Paimon's style is less sugarcoated. Hell, you can make the argument that Paimon, even while being an obviously bad person and father was still more attentive to Stolas's interests than Stolas is to Octavia's.
Paimon was busy and businesslike, Stolas just likes airing his dirty laundry out in front of his child. They are not the same.
Also, Paimon never made false promises, was honest about family matters without being too emotional about it, and even put his whole day on hold when he saw Stolas was upset on his birthday. He also paid attention to what (and who) Stolas reacted positively to and responded accordingly. On top of that, he stayed with Stolas until his "new friend" was delivered, despite not wanting to deal with him.
Paimon literally prioritized his child's feelings over his own for ONE DAY that we know of, and he did more for Stolas in that one day than we've seen Stolas do for Octavia through the whole series.
With Stolas's pattern of behavior, his singing and apologizing was basically his pleasant way of saying "cease this bitch crying," except when Octavia is still sad afterwards he doesn't go the extra mile to make SURE she feels better.
If I had to be raised by one or the other, I would pick Paimon over Stolas. And yet, the narrative wants us to coddle Stolas and use "his dad said bitch" as an excuse for how badly he treats Octavia.

Not solely to him, Truth Seekers and Ex's and oohs had him alongside Blitz, the campers episode had the plot of Blitz's sister. Besides as a member of IMP he's closer to a main character

Whenever a character that isn't Blitz or Stolas gets an episode their storylines are always also half focused on them. And just because they are side characters that doesn't mean that they don't deserve at least one episode of their own especially when they play important part in the story or in the actions of the main characters. Loona at the least got more focus in Spring Broken and in entire Queen Bee episode, even if Blitz also later joined the party, and she isn't as prominent as Blitz , Stolas or the rest of IMP.
Would it have been better if he was the antagonist? I think so.

One thing that bugs me about Stolas is that he waited a season or two to give Blitz the crystal that'll allow him to travel legally. HE KNEW Blitz was traveling ILLEGALLY with his book. He LITERALLY got caught by humans. He didn't give him the crystal for safety but to see if Blitz would still see him or not. That's so fucking selfish of him.

Honestly I love this review of Octavia because as someone who has divorced parents when I first started watching Helluva and saw Octavia, I was hoping it would be handled better and that the show would feel like it's ignoring Stolas's actions towards Octavia. Honestly I'm so glad that there's Stolas Slander out here. Stolas is both a manipulator, in the form of apologizing or putting others down because of his status, and he's neglectful in the form of he doesn't even know what his own daughter likes or listens to. I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but when Blitz had to go on that sitcom, why did Stolas stick around so long? Like it probably lasted hours based on the reactions of the audience and he could've just left a few minutes in to go look for his daughter, but he was too busy simping.
I've seen people make memes like "Octavia when stolas doesn't pay attention to her for 2 seconds:" and it's like... That's a gross mischaracterization. Stolas went to Loo Loo Land specifically in a poor attempt to cheer up Octavia and didn't spend hardly any time talking to her or paying attention to her. She put up with it the whole episode before leaving because Stolas flirting with Blitzø and taking her to stupid childish attractions made her uncomfortable. Then, she and Stolas had an ANNUAL TRADITION of seeing the meteor shower together that she looked forward to every year. She marked it on her calendar and drew a little picture of the meteors, her, and Stolas. But then he was so busy yelling at Stella that he forgot about their tradition and wouldn't let her get a word in. Her getting fed up so quickly is likely both due to time constraints on episodes, and because this isn't a one off incident. We don't get to see a lot of the family dynamic but I'd wager Octavia gets forgotten about and brushed aside often. She has a right to feel hurt that the annual tradition she and her father had was more important to her than it was to him, that she marked it on her calendar but Stolas managed to forget.
Stolas is the worst helluva boss character imo. The way he acts around his daughter is so gross. I just.. can’t feel sympathy for him. Many would say Stella is the worst but at least she is actually portrayed as a villain. I can’t stand when a character who is clearly doing bad shit is written as the good guy and never properly called out. And so many people just eat it up.

But behind it all, Stolas is actually a selfish and manipulative character that only cares about his greed and lust
Like for example, Stolas falls inlove with Blitz, try tricks to get with him which works, then breaks up with him and get with another man
Stolas is kinda the reason why I ship Blitz with Fizz (I also ship them because they are cute as heck, but still)
Stolas is an awful, disgusting and manipulative character in general and I don't believe it'll change for him anytime soon
But let's hope that Blitz moves on and starts trying to avoid Stolas manipulative tactics and gets with someone like Fizz (If him and Ollie break up or Ollie dies which is by any chances not easy or possible for his death to happen)
And maybe, hope that Blitz doesn't date anyone like Stolas or possibly Emberlynn (The simp from the 3rd short)

unfortunately dumb and dumber(viv and brandon) have manipulated their own character blitz and victimized stolas to the point where this terrible and abusive ship is now cannon.
What's made me angriest about stolas is how he was treated originally versus now. In the first season, he wanted relationships, but was a bad person and made everything about him. This made what happened in ozzie's satisfying - his actions were biting him in the ass, and he completely deserved it. But season 2 has completely rewritten it - its practically season 1 rehashed but instead, stolas is a victim, and he didn't do anything wrong - he was just trying to be happy. The problem there is that season 1 already happened, so it feels like vivzie is just gaslighting us into thinking that he is just a poor man who just wanted love and the best for his daughter, whereas in reality he was willing to sexually exploit his "lover" and neglect his daughter just so he'd feel better about himself and his own shortcomings. Most shows do move from lighthearted to serious as they go on, but they do it over multiple seasons, and complex themes are gradually introduced. Here, they were dropped on us like an anvil. And for those people saying the animation and songs are good, I say this: those things mean nothing if we don't care about the characters and the story. I used to be a fan of helluva boss, but nowadays, when I watch episodes, I watch them just once and then try to forget that they happened.
