My Ancestors fought in the British Army in the Revolutionary war with America and in the Napoleonic wars. All were Guardsmen in the Grenadiers. Although I am Australian I am immensely proud of my English Military heritage thanks ever so much for posting this as I never to get to see it out here. I am a big fan of ceremonial drill and NO one does it better than the Guards Division.

I am an American and I have much love and respect for the British tradition. I watch Trooping the Colour every year. I really love the American military tunes in the program this year, wonderfully played! Thanks for sharing! : )

I am an American and though I may not speak for the rest of my nation. I do believe that the Trooping of the Colors is the most amazing thing that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. It shouldn't matter what side of the pond you are on. It is a beautiful ceremony. I do love the addition of the American military music. I pray that one day if I ever get to visit the UK that I get to see this in person.

As an American, allow me to say that it is quite an event to watch. I enjoyed watching the Trooping of the Colour, I only wish we did more ceremonial things like this in the United States and showed our heritage and pride in our armed forces

This all look so Splendid & resplendent, see Beating Retreat, India on YT, When I was child I always used to think How I will feel when I will preside over those magnificent ceremonies as President of India & live in 340 room Palace (I am still in early 20s) Now when I see this I feel how British children can Imagine that, how hard they work & how much smarter they are than princes they can't be King or Queen. India is also Westminster sys. like UK. We have PM as real exe. & Presi. as cere. head

Notice that the drummer beating the drummer's call at circa 49:06 is using an old-fashioned rope-tensioned, brass-shelled drum of the type that was standard issue until the late 1950's early 60's. Can anyone explain this anomaly? I love the deep resonance and lower pitch of these old drums.

Two choruses of the Marines Hymn preceded by Anchors Away and an excerpt from Semper Fidelis-written by a Marine, for Marines.
These U.S. sea service marches chosen specifically, I wonder, or did General Norton just prefer them them musically?
I hope there was a U.S. Marine and/or sailor of appropriate rank for the occasion present, standing tall to acknowledge the tribute, and that the camera just chose not to show them.

I enjoy watching the trooping of the colour and it certainly demonstrates how the UK are able to display ceremony in a way other countries can't even dream. I must however object to some of the commentary where serving in Northern Ireland is referred to almost as a foreign war zone. Why is it relevant in this day and age in the UK to refer to serving in Northern Ireland?

I think you forget its significance, it was actually performed for the royal family as a suprise first off by the guards as a birthday present as all regiments would do this anyway (trooping the colour is how they made sure their men recognised the flag and rally point). This has nothing to do with celebrating imperialism, it was and still is a a birthday present from the guards division.

To further enforce your point, The royal family also donate around 100 million pounds per year directly to the UK, as per the reestablishment, they must donate all profits from the royal grounds, in return for all expenses paid by the government, if we got rid of the royal family, they keep the profit and actually would be better off, get more money for less work. This money lowers everyones taxes by around £1.30PA.

If there is anyone who can out perform the Lime Juicers on the parade ground, I would like to see it. Been there, seen the rehearsal twice and the real thing once in the 1960s. It tears me apart to read media accounts of the government gutting the forces. Has no one ever read the works of Rudyard Kipling?

I was wondering why the Brits did not honor by song the Army, America's premier fighting force, instead of the Army's Transportation Service ( Anchors Aweigh ) and the Navy's Rifle Boys ( Marine Hymn ). It is indeed a mystery. Are the Brits jealous of our Army as well ?
