This has made veterans of the Guards Regiments cringe, of that woman said is absolutely pathetic and appalling, she should notice that these are highly trained professional soldiers doing their duty and show some utmost respect.
I honestly don't understand why these types of videos become grounds for pissing matches. Yeah okay, I'm an American serving in the United States Army. These guys are British serving in the British Army, there are traditions and there are things that each country does that keeps their militaries true to their roots. I found this video extremely interesting to see what my allied brothers in arms go through in order to get where they want to be. Screw off with this WE ARE BETTER THAN YOU mentaility. Half of the people saying it most likely haven't served a day in their lives in their respective military force.
I have the utmost respect for these brave young men who put their lives on the line for their Queen and country as well as their trainers. Such an insight into the risks and training required. Thank you for sharing this. Regards from a South African with strong ties to the United Kingdom 🇿🇦🇬🇧
It's just surreal knowing all these things behind the scene. The training. The honour. The duty. The responsibility. It's more than becoming a guard. I feel closer to the royal family just by watching them here in the small screen of my phone. Now, watching this documentary and seeing a zoomed view of the palace, it made me realized how important the royal family is especially the Queen with all her Guards. It's a reality that they are not that easily accessible or a just a sight to see. And you're just one of those million tourists who peep by the gate or stand outside the gate. Seeing the Queen's Guard should be considered as privileged. How much more if you see the Royal Family themselves. My utmost respect to them! Salute.
Tbh the current royal family has very little to do with British history. They are more German. You are just a brain washed fool desperate to look up to someone that lives and dies like the rest. Pathetic
My great grandfather was a grenadier and after that he was a London police officer during WW2. His father served also as a grenadier during WW1 and was shot and French soldiers saved him only because his last name (Durant) sounded French.
This is coming from a patriotic American teenager, and I just want to say....wow! We Yankees served with you Brits and fought together during WWII, and help each other. Apparently, some people in the comment sections are too stupid to pick up a history book. Some people say "SEALs are better!" or "Nah, the royal Marines!" or something. When I'm 17, I want to join the United States Navy, and aim to be a SWCC, and I hope to serve the United States of America, and her allies.

Steven Cooper did a good job. Still showed up for duty even with the uniform issues. Cool to see he made his mother and sister proud. Good job 👍 Cooper.
I love the Sergeant Major in the background trying his hardest not to laugh at 25:11 Also i believe that's Patrick Hennessy @ 2:04 who wrote 'Junior Officers Reading Club'. Easily one of the vest books i've read about the British Army in this era.
Two years ago i studied in London at Brunel University and i had the opportunity to see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and it was great! All the respect from Brazil to England.
I had wet eyes watching the young guardsman being watched by his Mum and sister. It was so touching, and if I had been his parent I would also have been immensley proud. I have no doubt she would have loved to have told the people that that was her son there, bless her. It is the young men and women who have the dangerous and dounting task of kieeping us safe from our enemies, but do we really appreciate them as we should?
This video of the British Grenadier guards was viewed by over 5 million people. I truly saw this for the first time. In the USA this ranked close to a top-ten performance. Thank you All3Media for the upload.
Such a great documentary! It must have been a surreal experience for both Steven and his mother and sister when he was on duty. I loved how he squeezed his sisters hand :D
Huge respect and admiration for Mr. Cooper, the troubles of life under control through discipline and determination, with a lot of help from awesome people. Love the little sister's comment, "He's OK". :D What a role model she has now!!! Likewise for Abby, standing tall despite her diminutive figure, awesome achievement.
The United Kingdom has been around far longer than the United States. I would think that they are better known just based on that fact. I am in the U.S. Army and I have worked alongside the U.K. soldiers. They are just as reliable as we are and the men I served with I would continue to serve with given the opoortunity.
Into it. I like this... someone who is speaking from experience and not boasting about who's better than who. Team work and a bond from different countries, but men who work alongside each other because it means something. People can learn a thing or two from you.
As a person who grew up in America all my life, I do have roots to some royalty in England back before the American Revolution. Of course they were half sisters/brothers, etc, but regardless, the Queens Guard has always been something I respected highly, and almost wish I could be a part of it.
There is no one like our British Soldiers, We thank them for there service and what they endure for our security and freedom. Greatest respect for our army the guards and to Her majesty the Queen our longest serving Monackey .

I went to the palace to watch a few times now i understand the changing of the guards more fully and have a deeper appreciation for all of them.
What a great documentary on the Grenadier Guards showing us what training and discipline they have to go through- the best survive to represent the Monarchy and their country 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🥰🇦🇺
I'm seeing a bunch of people saying fighting about militaries. I don't give a flying fuck who is better, as far as I'm concerned the Brits are brothers and sisters to us. I don't see the point in arguing about superiority as long as they have are backs and fight for us as they would fight for their own country men.
That is because you are dealing with a bunch of ignorant morons who have never served in the military. The Americans and the British are brothers in arms. It makes no difference who is better or worst, we are on the same side. I am an American and can tell you, from experience, the British Royal Marines are the toughest bastards I have ever met. I am glad they are on our side. I would not want to be their enemy. The Brits are sending troops to Ukraine on behalf of NATO and the free world.
@@AmericanIdiot7659 we're all friends and allies now But tbf the revolutionary forces had alot of help from the french, Spanish and dutch, don't forget the war became a global war with Britain fighting alone
Im assuming the Grenadier Guards would be equal to the US Marines as it is the Marines who protect and guard the White House. Both Grenadiers and Marines take utmost pride in what they do. Most tourists just do not realize that the Queens Guard are also the British Military. They are not toy soldiers and should never be disrespected and or messed with while they are on guard duty. They will put you in your place quickly. Major props and respect for the Grenadier Guards.
@@lynxyt_194 Indeed, you must be a fit and willing to give your all in the Royal marines, that is why so many fail. It is most definitely the most brutal and grinding training in the world.
DJ O But the navy seals have different branches some with small extreme elite small squads like the SAS and they are branches of navy seal platoons which would be equilivant to Royal marines

+Denis10022 The days of the media trying to make us hate our once former allies over several centuries is over: The Germans. I sent my son and his girlfriend to Berlin for just a weekend in November last year and both adored the city :) My Grandad fought from 1939-45: A good German female mate came to the UK to see where David Bowie was born in London, aged 18, and never left the UK, and now aged 48. For my Sons age group, THAT war is a history book and that is it. Over that 30 years Tina (Bettina) has lived here commented on how the pointless hostility she first had as an 18 year old girl had completely vanished. Any people from any nation in London are welcome. As I pointed out to my Son: In my younger days I used to ask girls what part of London they came from; his generation now asks what nation they come from. Best wishes back to Germany mate!.
***** wow thanks for telling me this story mate :') I totally agree with you Im 16 and I heard terrible storys from my grandpa about war and so on...Yes the media is making people angry over the germans, I can understand that a bit because my country started a war...But its to general I have nothing to do with the world war...I did not fought there (lucky me that I was born 1999) ...So I think they should remember it was Nazi germany not the germany I am living in right now...sry for my bad english I hope you understand what Im trying to say :) Have a nice day :) ps I love england and everything about it :)

I cried... All of it is so powerful. That closing was just gut wrenchingly full of pride. the little girl's legs in the background of the shot of his spit shined boots.. and him squeezing her hand.. a passing on to a most honored position and new place in his life, while saying a silent goodbye to the old, no matter how close to his heart it is. yes, I'm corny. But, good grief, I couldn't imagine!
Looking through the comments, why people have to make everything into a competition between Britain and America? -Americans: "Blah blah da SEALs are better, 'Merica!" -Brits: "U wot m8? SAS will kick your fockin arse!" Seriously, who cares? We're allies and we're supposed to be friends. All of these hypothetical competitions and back and forth insults are just stupid.
indeed 'England'? It's the UK. You're omitting Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland! I'm sorry I know it seems pedantic and over patriotic, but it really offends me
Wow..just wow. I was assuming that these gaurds were just dorks in hats that had no value..but after seeing this...I would like to apologize for the ignorance. So much tradition and honor that comes with these guards its amazing. And the last part just hits home. This is just amazing. I was so focused on the U.S military, I never really thought to see it the way this documentary did. Cant wait to be able to talk to a British soldier.
I don't understand all these comments. The British have a long history bound with tradition. The "Guards" have a long and honorable fighting history as well as their ceremonial functions. I would like to know how this young Guardsman is now he must have served on the combat side by now.
Corey Glass I think I’ve seen that but I never saw Steven cooper. It is another documentary on the grenadiers though. I think he left before that (i think that one was made in 2010) and even though he didn’t do the minimum 4 years, he said he wanted to leave to join the police force. I know this because there was many news articles in late 2009 of him almost getting blown up in Afghanistan.

Salute.

I sent my son and his girlfriend to Berlin for just a weekend in November last year and both adored the city :)

For my Sons age group, THAT war is a history book and that is it.
Over that 30 years Tina (Bettina) has lived here commented on how the pointless hostility she first had as an 18 year old girl had completely vanished.
