Thank you for this informative documentary, Laura! My mother was in the beauty industry back in the 1960s. She owned a full-service salon. I was often there after school until late in the evenings. Her philosophy for women was to keep it simple and bring out their best assets. These women had careers, were traditional wives, or balanced both. I remember the depth they had, as I always listened to their conversations. When looks become an obsession it's a red flag. The time involved detracts from the important aspects of life. Many women are neglecting their inner development. As a result, they are putting their mental and emotional health at risk.
@@psychic644 I love the way your mother was in the beauty industry, I haven't been in for the last 12 - 13 years since I had my son I still do bits and pieces of beauty. I feel the same way as your mother keep it simple and bring out your best features. For example I feel my eyes r my best feature, usually if I've had my hair coloured and my makeup is looking neat and my eyes r done up beautiful I think I look good as they r one of my better features. And when people r obsessed with certain aspects of their looks it is a bit of a warning. Very informative video ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So much so! My Grandma went once per week got hands every other week feet every other week and hair every week. For decades. But she was in church every Sunday and at work 5 days a week. She hosted a dinner one night and cards and ice cream another. She donated her services(sewing nursing cleaning and vegetables from her garden)to those who needed it. She was smart crafty organized and well put together. A real lady but it took lots of experience to get that way
Honestly, people would rub dog poo on their faces if they saw it on TikTok. I wonder how adults folks can be so gullible. Common sense has to come in play somewhere. A good cleanser, an astringent, a moisturizer for your particular skin type, an SPF for time outdoors and a mask/peel for weekly use is really all a person needs to maintain healthy skin and anti-aging care (which will happen regardless if you're blessed with a long life). These products can be purchased inexpensively in a drugstore or more extravagantly in a department store. Stubborn issues like acne, rosacea, eczema, etc, may require a trip to a dermatologist for professional treatment. There is a reason why products such as witch hazel, Sea Breeze, Ponds, Noxema and Ivory soap have been around for decades...they do a good job. TikTok might be entertaining but don't be sucked into content that are scams created for likes, attention and monetization.
People that talk about how amazing snail mucin is never say how people with dust allergies can react to it! I personally got a rash from snail mucin because of that :/
The first one I tried reacted so I got a weaker one and always use it last. I didn't react to it. That said, when I forgot to order more, I left it for six weeks and didn't notice any difference, bought some more and didn't see any difference. There's better out there for us sensitive skinned ones.
I’ve been using snail mucin for over two years. I don’t have tik tok. Wasn’t influenced that way. I have mature, dry skin. The snail mucin makes a big difference. I use the essence daily and eye masks for an extra boost.
Every time I hear any talk about using snail mucus as skin care, I remember an episode of Penn & Teller's BS where they were talking about how people would fall for various "natural" health care scams. One prank/example being getting random shoppers at a mall to let their "doctor" put live snails on their faces. The episode came out about twenty years ago, well before TikTok existed or K-beauty got big in the US.
I have taken to splashing my face with cold water after my morning shower - it DOES depuff and close pores. It's also bracing and helps wake me up. It works. But, that's just splashing. And BTW I HATE cold water lol, took me a bit to just 'dive in', now it's in my post-shower routine.
The thing that botters me is.... Trendy Beauty influencrrs almost always are young. Very young, same with fitness influencers. "This Will make your sking young"... Yeah, you are young already and flawless sking yo begin with. I dont really see WOW efects, changes by the latest Beauty product. I dont get It, It Is young and perfect skin ¿Is there really any change?
Do they have to kill the snails for the mucin? Or do they just extract it in a way that doesn't hurt them? I would try it but I'm pretty big on cruelty free products
It is unbelievable what people do to their faces and bodies for beauty. I do the basic treatments with aha treatments, facials. I have used professional treatments to care for my skin. I find it so interesting to see what people did in the past with their skin. Great video, I loved it. Very informative ❤❤❤❤
I’ve been using snail mucin for years. Makes my skin so soft. I really don’t think it’s that gross tbh idk why people are so disgusted by it. I didn’t think it was a big deal lol
The more things change the more they stay the same. There will _always_ be beauty ideals, but my hope is that _soon_ beauty ideals will _finally go back to how they originally were_ & that beauty ideals will represent women from all over the globe again.
I think you missed the point of this video: beauty standards are and have been such that certain people of ANY generation would put dog poop on their face if it was said to help their skin.
Honestly, I'd rather use snail slime than actual excrement from an animal like bird poo! 😫 And I do admit to trying to get the "laminated" look w/ my naturally sparse brows, lol. As you can imagine, it hasn't been going well. 😂
Never forget your mom's all lived as 16-31 year old females... During some time before now, and just know the men in power who controlled "beauty" didn't even have an attraction to women. So how on earth could they truly care, they set the bar, and they got paid all behind the scenes... They wanted "walking hangers" For the clothes they made. It's all been a game played. Tho most time people who Appear like they are on your side are litteraly just ON your resources.
The snail mucin thing is just beyond gross. I will NEVER try that. I stepped on enough slugs as a kid growing up in the PNW. I remember that awful texture.

So true I wouldn’t want to use a lot of those weird tik tok products
As a mature woman,(63,) I'd only add a restorative serum to the 3 steps above.❤
I accidentally burnt my forehead with a curling iron, and snail mucin helped the burn heal so much more quickly than I expected! It was so gentle.
People that talk about how amazing snail mucin is never say how people with dust allergies can react to it! I personally got a rash from snail mucin because of that :/
Omg I tried snail mucin the other day and it irritated my skin - I am really allergic to dust omggggg

My skin loves it. People think I'm 10 years younger than I am.. but that was happening way before the snail mucin routine 😂
The thought of using snail trails on my face 🤢🤮

Nice which brand do you use? I want to try

Very informative and very well edited! This is the content we need more of.

CosRx snail mucin products are my favorite. I especially love the eye serum.
Do they have to kill the snails for the mucin? Or do they just extract it in a way that doesn't hurt them? I would try it but I'm pretty big on cruelty free products
The one in the line I use is labeled as cruelty-free. I don’t want snail trail slime on my face, so I won’t be trying.
interesting question I am curious myself. I wouldn't:t be down if that is the case
Yeah, I wondered about this too? Like, is that just crap the snail left behind, or do they have to forcibly extract it from the snail?
They don’t kill the snails. They naturally excrete the mucin.
It doesn’t hurt the snails. They massage the snails by getting them relaxed so they release the mucin, it’s actually enjoyable for the snail.
i will say the snail mucin is wonderful, definitely helps my skin out a lot and makes it feel soft and smooth
Which one do you use
I use the face wash and like it.

Interesting which brand do you use
Missha Super Aqua Cell Renew Cell Cream is the best I have tried. And they often have sales so it is very affordable & amount lasts a long time.
very interesting lol u always make these topics intrguing
Glad you think so!
Great job--I really appreciate the research that goes into your videos! And the visual content makes them so enjoyable!

This generation would put dog poop on their face if they thought it would stop aging.🤦

It's worse in the past. At l3ast there's actual testing and cleanliness compared to the past's arsenic and bird poop.
@@oracularp didn't miss any point at all.

I'm glad I'm a baby boomer!😂😅😂😆🤣
I tried the snail stuff and I broke out like crazy 😅 I've got very sensitive skin though

I tried a K beauty face cream with snail mucin and it made be break out a little.
I tried an Avon one and it gave me a rash
Snail slime is life. I’ve used for years and it makes my face look soft and plump.
Omg 😅 dog poo lol 😅could you imagine 😮thanks for the video Laura 😊Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year 🎉
Merry Christmas to you too!
Phenol masks scare me, but omg the results!

Please don’t use a British white woman from a racist film to depict Cleopatra.
