Thanks bro, I'm inexperienced in 2D animation but want to make a career out of it. i'm a bit cramped for time on an animation i'm doing for school and your channel is one of my main saving graces, keep it up, your work is awesome.
ok when i animate its looks hard and not smooth it looks more like a slideshow, and i know no principles of animating what so ever ,i thought if i practiced and keep trying i will get good ,but i know i need to learn these techniques so imma try to do this!
REAPERTHEBEAR “add more frames” is different from “learn how to space them with timing”. They could have had many frames, but maybe the rate per second was too low or they were too evenly spaced out.
add archs , even w/ you put more frames and de timing is perfect your animation is going to looks like a slide show because it doesn´t have archs. With it even animations with porly frames looks better
I'm so happy that I found this tutorial because I'm new to Krita and I wasn't thinking you'd be using it but you are! This is just gonna make following the tutorial easier for me and that's AWESOME
I Just now discovered this channel and I have never took so many notes... I've been stuck on the animations I've been working on. Thank you so much! You are very talented!😀
Your videos are awesome man! You are really helping me understand how i can improve and stay motivated. Your tutorials are clear and are easy to understand. Great job you earned a sub!
This was a great video to watch, thank you for the tips Mr. Wimhurst! I have been struggling on selecting a style, either Hand drawn or Puppet animation on Toon Boom. I think I can utilized both to a degree. Cheers!
Thank you so much for sharing it! I learn a lot from you! I always recommend you on every people who ask me where I learn 2D animation. Thank you so much!
hey everyone, I've been animating for a few months now and was hoping someone could offer tips as to speed? sometimes i draw for hours and barely finish more than 5 or 6 frames; i'm definitely aware that i'll have to practice, and i try to animate for a few hours every day to help get me there. but could anyone who struggled with something similar offer advice? i feel like my peers have such an easy time drawing as many frames as they need, and i'm not sure how to keep up. thanks so much, your video was great btw!!
that's really annoying! Will probably need to export it to see it in full frame rate. If you're using flash hit ctrl + Shift + Enter to test the scene (I think). I am having a similar problem in TVPaint, it skips a bunch of frames the first time I play the timeline
Howard Wimshurst it's a pain to wait for the thing to export... Especially if the animation is long. I don't even use flash or a pc to animate... So it probably makes it worse. Good thing I'm not alone lol.
just like the bird flying in fast and stabilizing at the end of the motion, you would need to space out the distance the bird traveled further away between frames, on the paper, to create a fast motion, and then have the bird spaced less between frames to make it seem like its moving slower. Im afraid i dont understand when to use 1s, 2s, and 3s to make that happen. Not saying this would be a good idea for example, but couldn't you actually do the whole animation in 1s? You could the same with 2s, or 3s. I understand that 1s make the animation smooth each drawing is different for each frame, 3s are a bit choppy because the motion stays the same for 3 frames before the drawing changes. Is that where favoring and inbetweening come into play? I dont understand the application of mixing them, why you would mix them, and how it would effect your animation. Sorry, I typed alot, but i feel like I'm missing a piece of info somewhere in between my knowledge that isn't making it click. If any of you animation wizards could explain it to me, I will love you forever :D
Hello, Howard, I find it really useful for my other project but the problem is I find it is really hard to understand what you explain in this video. can you please provide the subtitles in the future to help me understand proper. overall you are high quality to explain and I already subscribed your channel!
i would love to put subtitles on all of my videos so that they can help more people. however I have very limited time to make each episode. Most episodes these days are written, voiced, edited, exported and published all in the same day! it's because I only have one day free per week to work on them. So I could put that available time into making subtitles but I could not do it whilst sticking to my upload schedule of one per week. Currently anyone is able to subtitle this video, by going to this link th-cam.com/users/timedtext_video?v=_IIszTuH5gc&ref=share and I will ensure that this community is able to subtitle any of my videos if they wish to
thanks for your quick respond! I forgot to add other sense 1 day ago. "I am a profoundly deaf and I also am an animator to animation for my own project" I can not make my own subtitles from your videos. that's fine by me and at least I try to understand the video that you showed us for example but I totally understand of your on technical. can you please judge the videos of animation on my channel and leave the feedback which I will improvement them. I apologised about English that it is not my main language as I am a sign user!
Which software do you use? Because I use procreate and my animations aren’t smooth and flowing they’re more like a bus that’s about to breakdown. (Weird analogy I know)
it's nothing to do with the software and everything to do with the experience of the artist using the software. I used Flash back then but nowadays I use TVPaint. Not that it matters. The best animators in history used pencil and paper on a lightbox
Hi howard ... ummmm ... your videos are amazing and very awsome and just can u show me that trick like fast motion and how to make good backrounds like u
Scrubbing is when you drag the timeline cursor back and forth between frames in order to see how they will look without actually playing back the entire animation
Hey Howard if you have time could you make a tutorial about super fast run speed, kinda like 6 tails vs pain where Pain goes super sonic everywhere btw good video
oh hey, didn't expect to see you here. I'm here bc i haven't improved my animations in 9 months. (Also, anyone who calls you bad is obviously blind lol)
In the off-chance anyone's looking, I hope nobody minds if I speak my mind, speaking of how to improve animation. I draw and animate with a skill that makes old Newgrounds animations look like Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. I've been in a catch-22 whereby my art and animation's not good enough to impress anyone into providing tips for improvement. I want to improve myself, and I like thing I marginally am; however, in order to really get better, I need peer review. I realize this might seem petty, but: in the off-chance anyone sees this, if you'd be willing to review any of my little animations- even just one, and even if it's one of my older/est ones- you would have my immense gratitude. From one artist to another.
Howard Wimshurst it'll definitely expand your work trust me 👌 a guy like me tends to watch good animations over and over again. Keep it up and hope you let us know in the future when you have one.
that intro is beast
Thank you :)
:DDDDD

How did it turn out?

BillyBob Jr omg thank you!
More frames doesn't always mean better animation
That intro was good, but I laughed my ass off when I thought he just yeeted his girlfriend off a building
lmfao
imagine being that guy's partner
he just goes "I love u so i yeet u"
Lol
I kinda wish for that tho

I'm so happy that I found this tutorial because I'm new to Krita and I wasn't thinking you'd be using it but you are! This is just gonna make following the tutorial easier for me and that's AWESOME
thanks so much for explaining arcs in detail, most of the videos i see just brush over them slightly but this really helps
I am more into tweening, but I'm sure frame-by-frame is vital sometimes, so thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you for being my tutor... i learned a lot about anim here.. man u deserve more subs
I Just now discovered this channel and I have never took so many notes... I've been stuck on the animations I've been working on. Thank you so much! You are very talented!😀
notes! that's what i like to hear! :)
in this channel you can learn a lot about animation ! really good job
Thank you my friend
Howard Wimshurst no man, thanks to you!
Could you be able to make a full animated short
I have made several
I didn't actually watch this, I got to interested in the animation I was doing at the time I'm on frame 5 with hand-drawn :)
Bruh dat intro, I remember that from one of your showcase videos
so good
yeah it's old lol
haven't been finishing many animations recently because I have got like 5 in the early planning stages
Awesome man, really enjoying dipping back into the process with your tutorials, thanks for the upload :)
U r a true hero of animation .i shall include you on my list of instructors.i a salute u sir

My device lags... So instead of having the preview play on let's say 18 fps... It plays on 5 fps...
that's really annoying! Will probably need to export it to see it in full frame rate. If you're using flash hit ctrl + Shift + Enter to test the scene (I think). I am having a similar problem in TVPaint, it skips a bunch of frames the first time I play the timeline

(Cough) 24 FPS
Press ctrl and enter to watch the animation in a seperate window, sort of like a TH-cam video(ik I’m late but better late than never)
Absolute love your style of animation. The opening 👏🏼👏🏼
thank you :)
wish i had some animations to show
Art Chapman make one to show :)
that animation at the beginning was so smooth i-
brah.... its amazing how far you've come
thank you kellz, same to you

Cant remember where I heard the song around the 12:00 mark, please tell me someone knows?
can i know about animating fighting scene with cartoon character?? please......
Hey, I've been having trouble drawing dynamic poses and faces. How can I improve better and faster?
Do these tutorials work with paper animation or just digital frame by frame?
No madder how much I think I know I won't be able to animate like this
TheHolyWoodyLol Animations you can learn to animate better than this
Howard Wimshurst I hope so
I’m going into 4th yr next year so I’m going to be doing animating for gsce wanna be decent at it before I start tho :p

Dude ur amazing I'm learning soooo fast! Thank you soo much!
glad you are putting the lessons to use!
What's a better way to draw people running/walking when ur on a tablet doing animations???
could you phrase the question differently? I'm not sure I understand how to answer that
Amazing bro!! Do you have to need animation for Games Design?
well i guess not if you have a game like chess or something where things don't require animation
Have you got any videos on 3D animations?
unfortunately it is not my specialty :(
Great tips, thanks!
I like your channel. I will accompany you from now. Excellent job...
thank you
Your videos are very much helpful ❤️❤️❤️
Hey Boss, what is the program you are using for your animation? looks really cool!
Adobe Flash ;)
Thanks Maria!!
ups, it looked like flash xD well then, I guess there's a new software i need to install lol
Well, Animate is the new name for Flash. They changed it recently :)
damn, this is the *good* stuff

Hi howard ... ummmm ... your videos are amazing and very awsome

Thanks for that tips man :)

When he tells you that scrubbing is an important concept but doesn’t tell you what it means 😭
Scrubbing is when you drag the timeline cursor back and forth between frames in order to see how they will look without actually playing back the entire animation
Jacegman I see! Thanks for clarifying for me. But then, why don’t they just play the animation? Wouldn’t that be better?
@@pokaay3163 Alot of times you just want to see how the movement is from one frame to the next rather than the animation as a whole
1) learn how to draw anime
2) learn how to remove cloths
3) profit
4) repeat
Hey Howard if you have time could you make a tutorial about super fast run speed, kinda like 6 tails vs pain where Pain goes super sonic everywhere btw good video
The Energetic Turtle i LOVE that scene. I might make a video about it
Howard Wimshurst sweet thanks man
What software
Josh adobe flash, but its new name is adobe animate
Okay, the reason I’m here is because someone with a SCOURGE profile picture (with a pink color) insulted my animations. Oh and also called me a prick
oh hey, didn't expect to see you here. I'm here bc i haven't improved my animations in 9 months.

dude you need to make an Instagram ASAP.. it's repetitive video play will be perfect for your animations 😥 wait a sec do you have one ??
I have one but I have not been updating it! I really need to follow your advice!
Howard Wimshurst it'll definitely expand your work trust me 👌 a guy like me tends to watch good animations over and over again. Keep it up and hope you let us know in the future when you have one.
