About the SOFTWARE I use in the video: A huge amount of my production involves Adobe CC (my affiliate link tinyurl.com/v7fvqgo) I use Adobe photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Audition and sometimes Animate. I would be nowhere without these softwares. You can get them all with a comfortable monthly subscription, or you can get subscriptions to individual plans. Check them out and see what works for you. The main software I'm using to actually animate frame by frame is called TVPaint. Here's more information on that: www.tvpaint.com/ It's a great software :) And if you need a Graphics tablet, I highly recommend this one for you ballers out there: geni.us/vy8xUZB It's the best tablet money can buy :) And here's a great low-low cost alternative: geni.us/LLYv
My animation class is doing an animation that expresses the “weight” of an object... I decided to represent weight with its relationship with water and how bigger splashes mean a heavier object.. of course being a noob animator I’ve never animated water before, and let me just say, I’m scared to imagine what I would have done if I didn’t have this video.
ive been looking for a step by step explanation that explains why water moves a certain not just how it moves and this has been so helpful! youre a wonderful teacher
It's scary how I was practicing animating water and go in my sub box to see this, your timing always seems to be at the right moment, good stuff. Can't wait to utilize some of these tips for an animation I want to upload.
Oh no, I came across this AFTER I first animated water. I can dump that animation in the trash now and start over. No, really, thank you v much for this video, very helpful tricks!
Some people think it's simple; some people think it's difficult. I think it's simply difficult. However! If you can master animating water, then you've got timing in the bag! Thank you so much for showing us how to do it!
you make water droplet look so beautiful. i could watch it all day. I'm glad to have come across this video because i'm having such a hard time with my water splash. thank you
It's weird that I'm watching this after I made a small animation of someone waterbending, but this is definite thing I'll keep in mind. Thank you Howard, you're a true inspiration
Can you please make a sakuga study about the last fight in Kizumonogatari III ? It is a really well animated pice and has one of the best sakuga in it so i think you would like it. (it is a little bit brutal though)
Amanda Carvalho thats a good question! Because it is the same material, some of the characteristics still apply, but the starting shape and structure would probably look a bit different. There is lots of slowmo water bucket footage on youtube thanks to the ALS ice bucket challenge! Lets study it
How much does Adam Phillip's fx course cost? I've been to his site a few times. I love his work. I've been following him and his work since the early 2000's. (2000-2009). I've thought long and hard about his courses before in the past, but still haven't really wanted to pay for them. Also, is it flash-specific (software specific). Like... If he does a trick with the software, that means I need to invent a new way to do that trick with Opentoonz.
The course is not specific to any software - he used toonboom and that didn't affect my learning at all. I remember the price being something like $24 per month and a lesson will be drip fed once every two weeks which should give you enough time to do the assignments (although I skipped most of the assignments because life got in the way) totally worth the money if you want to seriously master all FX animation. It's not the kind of information that you can find anywhere on the free internet.
I study reference all the time, I look at real life examples of water, in the sink, at the beech, at the river. TH-cam is also a great search engine if you don't have what you need locally
Hi, do you know that your tutorials helps me a lot on my animation journey.. But I'm still a beginner.. Sometimes if I don't know what to do anymore im repeatedly watching your videos and slowing it down and pausing the frame by frame to immitate the movements of things.. Is that bad? If it's bad I'm so sorry.. :(
No I understand why you would do it that way And thanks for watching and paying attention! If you want a more thorough breakdown of the underlying principles I would suggest enrolling in my course: www.animatorguild.com/courses.html

What you think of clip studio paint for animating ?
@@samuelblackk6106 its pretty fucking good,
Is there anyway you can have them forever? I remember adobe applications worked that way before
@@thestrangeandstupidone8116 no there isnt, but please buy clip studio instead it is better than adobe and it has a lifetime purchase
“I kinda rushed this I hope it looks ok...” the animation: gift from the gods. Me: he’s that one kid that complains about his 95% on the final exam

Boy, this is a masterpiece.
All the time
This is funny that this was uploaded when I wanted to animate water in one of my current animations I'm working on. :)
Yeah, I need to animate a flowing river for a scene in a animated series I’m creating, and I’m not very good at animating water.
I guess the animating gods was feeling bad for you.
*CURRENT* I get it lol
