Agree. To think that half of the songs were left overs from earlier albums ! To think that songs like this and 'The Rover' didn't make the albums they were written for blows my mind. It shows just how great those first 5 albums were.
Kashmir is not off the Houses of the Holy album. It's from the Physical Graffiti album. It was originally considered for this album, but it was placed instead on their next album (PhysicalGraffiti).
@@lindazee, um, you do realize that the song "Houses of the Holy" is off the album "Physical Graffiti", which is a double album, right? As such, my statement is correct, i.e. that the song "Kashmir" is off the same album as the song "Houses of the Holy".

Graffitti is a great album, my favorite by far by Zeppellin. There is a treasure trove of music on this double album opus. You cant go wrong with any selection from this album.
"Houses of the Holy" was a phrase that Zeppelin used to describe the arenas and venues where they performed ... The "Holy" were of course the Audience, their fans that filled them
If you want to hear a Zeppelin song that’s a real outlier and off this album, try “In the Light”. Not a banger, but it will definitely surprise you! Everyone else is recommending some amazing rockers and you should hear them all, but this one will really hit you on a different way.
Amber & Jay, here are some other good Led Zeppelin songs to react to: "Your Time Is Gonna Come", "The Song Remains the Same", "Dancing Days", "The Rover", "Trampled Under Foot", and "Achilles Last Stand"
I will never forget as long as I live the day that my grandmother walked in and saw this album sitting on my bed and started yelling that "there's naked people on it"! She's been gone these 40 years and I will never forget that lol.
Trampled Under Foot and 10 Years Gone (my favorite and lots of Zep Heads favorite) both masterpieces both off of this album, which is a complete masterpiece...
Everytime I hear this I think of my old school friend Danette. She had a stroke in her late teens due to some undiagnosed heart ailment. It happened right before she started college. Tho she had a rather slow recovery, she still carried on with her schooling. . I used to help her with her Math because the stroke left her numbers cognition a bit lacking. Anyway, on days when she wasn't "firing on all cylinders" (her words), she just wanted some company and conversation. I had a wonderful record collection at the time and she always begged me to bring over some rock n roll -- her strict parents wouldn't allow it in their house. But since she lived in off campus housing... So one day I turn up with Physical Graffiti and she just was over the moon. Even with her slurred words, twisted arm, and shambling gait from the stroke, she would be head bangin' to Houses of the Holy. I swear one evening we played it like 8 times in a row. Neighbors bangin' and we laughed and turned it up louder. About 7 years later with me married, moved away, I was by then a store owner. Hadnt seen Danette since she graduated. But my phone rang one day with her name attached. I'm like Hey what up? Month a Sundays since I heard from you. It was Danette's half sister on the line. She had died 2 days before. She was 26 years old. Sister said she dialing all the numbers of folks D had called the most. I was her 5th call. I always played music in my store. That night before I closed my shop, I put the loud speakers outside, I put "Houses of the Holy" on the player, cranked up the volume to 15 of 20, and I played the song 9 times in a row. I'm sure somewhere Danette was laughing her ass off.
Some Zepp bangers not often mentioned: Boogie with Stu.. Ozone Baby.. In the Light.. Down by the Seaside.. Carouselambra ... Achilles Last Stand.. Cheers

My top three Zeppelin songs are generally the last three that I’ve heard; I love nearly all of their library! Favorite three on this album: Kashmir In the Light In My Time of Dying The Rover The Wanton Song Ten Years Gone Black Country Woman Oh, and all the rest of them on Physical Graffiti! Pretty much in the order they were published on the album!!! 😁
I have long loved this little gem. Everything about it is just right. I love that stutter beat they throw in there now and then, and sometimes it's just the rhythm section, but sometimes Jimmy Page joins them on guitar, It's so good.
A nice little touch by JPJ here. The first two times he plays the riff, doubling Page, he plays the final note low, then each subsequent time, he ends on the same note but an octave higher. It further feeds the song's energy.
Can't forget John Paul Jones contribution on the bass guitar and his contribution to the band as whole. He is truly the Keystone of this awesome rock band.
This is in my LZ Top 10! If there's a difference between a banger and an bop, this is the boppiest!! Love seeing Rob and Amber just grooving to the tune!!
