      I recall a long while back teaching my gf how to play sub rogue on wow pvp and she wasn’t able to execute her plays as clean while trying to follow instruction unless it was preemptive instruction

      that's why what Neil is doing is not s coaching :)
      It's more like mentoring/Guidance in the game with a mix of teaching after the game.
      It's tough fore the player because you have to analyse the situation, take decision and being criticized or guided at the same time.
      Coaching would be reviewing a game together and asking questions about what could be improved.
      Then it could be coupled with teaching (like a drill to improve or implement new mechanics like kiting).
      I'm btw a coach as well, but not on lol in a professional setting :)

    I give you my respect for taking a completely new, mechanically complex champ into high elo. We all know you can most of the time pull off a smash in low elo just by macro alone, so I enjoyed seeing the struggle and strategizing when things got tough.

      @@jonah9298 Yea but my point is, he striaght up forgets to W and Q his team for like 5 seconds into most fights and just lets them die, being more focused on hitting an E. Given 3/4 of tarics kit is to link to an ally and prevent damage, that's pretty bad. If it was a champ like alista or leona then fine

    This is so fascinating. Next time I get stuck doing jungle (my worst role, I'm a support main), I'll have to try this strategy out! Looks fun!
    Taric is definitely kind of funky to learn at first, especially with his ability timings, and for the fact that you basically have to be able to predict what is about to happen throughout the game including in the heat of fights. It's pretty tricky.
    I think a lot of the Taric "tricks" could have been shown before the game, however it takes other players and situations to be present and setup within a game in order to showcase the possible things you can do. So it's really tough to make that happen unless you maybe have a custom match with everyone knowing what each person is supposed to try to do to setup for each of the "tips and tricks" with Taric, and all would need to be in a voice call together, etc. A mocked up game, if you will. Even then, it's not easy, and there's basically a lot of little lessons to learn about playing Taric that would probably take somewhere between 10 to 30 games to gain the understanding of the nuances. On an average player, I think one would need to get Taric to Mastery 7 before they truly begin to grasp how to play him well or well enough.
    I would say there are two other tricks you can do with Taric that might be a little more advanced is:
    1. When you were farming Raptors/Chickens on your side of the map, and healing up your Mid-laner at the same time, their lane was pushing into them faster than they could freeze the lane just outside of Turret range. Something you could have done, if you were more comfortable with aiming your stun (E - Dazzle), and if you were more self-aware of your tie with your teammate and how the stuns aim between the both of you, you could stun both your Raptors/Chickens and the Mid-laners' minion wave just to help both of you and maximize on the CD and Mana cost of using the ability.
    2. When you get really comfortable with the windup of Taric's stun (E) you can always make sure to hit the stun even when they try to dodge it, and you can also surprise the enemy and avoid any strange unpredictable behavior they might have with trying to dodge it, not through pure aiming of the skill and walking at them, but you can windup the stun while you flash into strange angles to sheepdog them into where you want them to be and where you want them to go, so that between you and whom you are tied to in lane, there is no escape for them away from the stun. Yes, only use the flash stun when you need to and to secure the play, or to preserve your life and/or the teammates life when needed. It can be used both offensive and defensively.
    Just some additional thoughts about this video that I thought of that I did not really see demonstrated or shown that I thought I would add in for extra ideas on how one could play Taric.

    This seems like one of the rare off meta picks that actually works better in high elo. It feels like it would be incredibly frustrating trying to play this in plat and below where many games you'll just have no win cons. I'm actually one of those phase rush Poppy jungle spammers he mentions, and even in that case it often feels like games are hopeless because lanes I put ahead just throw.

    • @mg9077
      @mg9077 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respectfully disagree. You're right that plat can sometimes feel there are no win cons because it's a shit show, but that's where a Taric pick who can prolong everyone's life during said shit show really shines. Taric becomes the win con because of his spammy heal and ult.

    I would actually like to see more games. 3-4 matches over 2 days would show the plateau effect with how you're getting coached. I play a lot of Taric, and I could see the level of improvement. I was hoping you would figure out how to micro and juggle q+w mid fights to give u a shield in between heals, and then weaving aa's between both.

  • @omgabaddon
    @omgabaddon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Funny, I used to play Taric everywhere and get flamed by everyone saying Taric isn't meta and he's bad, which is understandable because I'm bad at the game but that's unrelated to the champ. First time I see someone high rank actually play it and actually do well. BTW never thought about healing my buddies while creeping the jungle, I def will try that today.

  • @benjamincrowley9919
    @benjamincrowley9919 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I heard about this champ/strat a few weeks ago and picked it up to try it thinking it couldn't be that hard. Admittedly I'm a low elo boomer, however I was shocked at how difficult this was to to play well. The R delay can be really hard to land at the right time for it to matter, E is more of a skill shot than it seems and if you miss either the Q+W spam is more underwhelming than you would hope for. I still plan to practice it until I get better at it because it is really strong, but its definitely not free games.

    • @apg5216
      @apg5216 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something you have to learn when picking up Taric is orb walking and using shift click. When alternating between spell casts and auto attacks so fast it is easy to misclick. Shift click ensures that you always hit your target. The next step is then orb walking which is alternating between shift click and right click to move between every auto attack causing a stutter step which makes you way more difficult to kite. This is where I believe true mastery of Taric comes from. It isn't timing his R or landing every stun. It is simply staying on target while not wasting any time with fluid motions between casting and autoing.

    Thresh lantern is so buggy, I frequently run into issues when trying to click it

    • @Johnnyyaguchi-w7y
      @Johnnyyaguchi-w7y 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case neace couldn't use the lantern because he was grounded by Cassiopea's W. Said so, thresh lantern is basically impossible to click if an enemy puts himself on it or if he just puts a ward on it...and it's not a bug basically. It's intended to work like this

    if neace was coaching he was yelling but because is a tric player he is sayng in slow motion the right thing to do as neace ignores it
