- In this episode, I cover how we're going to utilize some of the stock components while getting the steering rack and column built.
While I worked on that, Alec was busy on the rear of the car and plotting out the location of our nitrous system.
Next up, we dive into the pedal setup and getting everything mounted.
Big thanks to everyone for following along as my team and I transform this flood damaged C8 Corvette into a full Formula Drift spec drift car!

Best build series in youtube
Haha I’m sure there are way better but thank you!
@petejohnsonjr8418 facts
The simple things you forget about when it's all done always take forever.
Any other person trying this I’d have my doubts. With Matt Field and his people and sponsors on it, I know it’s gonna get finished and be badass.
We are going to try our freakin best!
Dude this car is going to be sick when it's done
This build is gonna be so sick. Can’t wait to see it in action 🔥
longer episodes and more content! actually really enjoying this build an really excited to see what it turns out to be! an ayyy 10k subs! lmao finally homie should at least be up in the 20's but soon enough im sure.
Gotta stay grinding!
absolutely strong muscle drift car bro ❤ greeting from korea 🇰🇷
Going to be a killer build
I learn a lot of fab tips for my own projects from these vids, keep em comin!
Great solution for mounting the pedals. A+
Wasn’t quite sure how I was going to do it! They still have a bit of flex so I will add some bracing
@@mattfield777 I’m surprised there’s any flex. I guess there aren’t many places left to weld. It must need more strength across the front edge. Thicker plate might eliminate any flex.
Hey Matt thank you for another video.
I remember when you built the original competition coverette chassis and really enjoyed the videos from that build. What happened to those?
Love the series and the channel. Always liked your driving but had no idea you were so involved and hands on with the build of the cars. Awesome stuff thanks for taking us along. Excited to see where this chassis takes you!
Been hands on since day 1 baby! And still love building cars
I’m secretly hoping that this is going to be his new FD car. Bro wants to be sponsored by Chevy then he needs the newest stuff. Same with if he could have a pro cat with an LT2 in a C8 corvette. (Or LT4 which ever it is).
SENNNND IIIIIIT!!!!
i'm so mad but happy because I was randomly thinking, when is Matt going to build a C8? And I just today found out that TH-cam unsubscribed me... so re-subbed but I guess I have a lot to catch up on! So sick to see your build!
This is going to be epic. Thanks for letting us follow you in your journey.
Thank you for coming along!
Thanks for the Monday morning motivation
I can't wait for this c8 to be done and hear it ripppp!!
This series is Sick!! 🤘🏽
Nicely done 👍
This awesome and love the build. My only concern is how much weight will have to be added to the front so it turns. Can’t wait to see this beast in action
it will likely have radiator up there plus possibly intercooler etc so it might not be that different from oem tub weight, if not more.
That electric steering rack will be a problem. Your probably gonna need a typical hydro rack or electric over hydro setup
Link to the thread serts you used on the pedal box plate?
So are we ignoring the front fenders or did I miss something?
Hey Matt - aim camera more down so we can see better! Great build 👍
Yea I blew it a few times! Haha
If that's the most disgusting car you have ever touched, you have had a very plush life 😂
What are your predictions for the handling characteristics? I mean technically your C6 is “mid” engine just motor out front where the C8 is what most would consider the “traditional” mid engine. Other than seating positing being in a different part of the car than you are used to are you expecting it to handle and operate similar to the 6 other that learning there is less car in front of you and more out back.
The goal will be 50/50 like the c6. The thing I’m not too sure about is the polar weight of the c8. I’m going to try my best to put as much weight forward but I’m sure it won’t be 50/50. So in theory it should be very fast, but might not transition as snappy as the c6? Might not change direction as well but will probably be faster
@@mattfield777 as with anything I figure there is going to be a learning curve no matter what but a lot will be similar while a lot will be very different. Interested in seeing the build come to fruition and change the game! Good luck! Would be cool to see a test day with both cars for a side by side comparison.
@@mattfield777 could you center mount the seat? Rare opportunity ahead of you.

Sequential is not a manual. Change the title of this series. I was interested until I found out it's not a real manual.
How so? You still have to manually shift it it doesn’t do it automatically 😂 failing to see any validity in your argument.
ahaha what? hate to burst your bubble they are 100% manual and if youre into any racing/motorsport in general an it is high level usually thats all youre going to find in a race car. they still have the third fun pedal the only difference is its way more badass an aggresive then your typical manual and is able to switch into gears much faster an precise and for bonus you get insane gear box noises. so no title change isnt in the cards aha becasue bro is building a manual C8 and a clutch pedal is what makes a vehicle manual not the way the shifter moves.
You can buy similar transaxle with a standard shift pattern. The install and the work is the same. If that small detail makes you uninterested you don't have the mindset to do this work anyway.
Thank you guys! Haha y’all couldn’t have said it better!
