  • I've had quite a few people asking me recently about how you go about applying for job with Disney Cruise Line so I thought I'd break it down for you in this video as well as giving you a few interview tips too. Hope this video helps you in some way!
    Don't forget to subscribe to my channel! It would mean the world if you did!
    As a side note I’d just like to say this was how the application process was for me back in 2018 and things may have changed since then so if the information in this video isn’t 100% accurate I do apologise!
    P.S sorry the lighting is kind of chaotic in this video, I didn’t realise how bright it was getting until I was editing 😬

    I applied for the YAC position, and had the first interview with a recruiter, but with my experience, they said I'm more suited for a NC (nursery counsellor) position. I've been shortlisted and guaranteed for the next/final interview, but I have to wait until they have the dates for the Disney Treasure ... I'm still reeling at getting to the next interview stage, let alone a new Disney cruise! 🤩

      Thank you! It happened accidentally but so quickly. I applied one evening, was invited to a webinar and then offered an interview the next day! What are the hours like as a nursery counsellor? It states 10 hours/7 days a week, but they'll have set opening hours won't they? Thank you for these informative videos!

      Oh gosh I hadn’t realised you’d replied I’m sorry! That’s basically how my dcl journey started, applied on a whim and got the job within months haha. The hours are long I won’t lie, I believe if I’m remembering correctly the nursery starts slightly earlier than the rest of kids club or a similar time at least and sometimes they finish around 11pm but sometimes you may be asked to go to the other kids clubs to work until midnight if you fall on that sort of line on the schedule. Your start and end times vary though so it won’t be the same all the time

    Hey, this was a wonderful video and very helpful for someone who’s nervous at the prospects of being accepted when I apply next year. Just one quick question:
    I’ve noticed on past cruises I’ve been on as a kid that the vast majority of counselors onboard, particularly in the Oceaneer’s club/lab are women. Do you think they go out of their way to hire that way, or is that just the typical demographics of the applicants?

    • @perksofharriet
      @perksofharriet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Thank you so much for saying that! I hope your application process goes smoothly! I don’t necessarily think it’s the way the choose to hire people, I think you’re right that it’s more likely that more females would want to apply for the role than males do for whatever reason. They certainly wouldn’t turn you away because of your gender if you’re perfectly capable of doing the job and are great at entertaining the kids onboard!

    Quick question ☺️ I know that contracts are 6 months and then there are two months off in between contracts, at least for merchandise they are. Just wanted to know does your contract auto renew or are there targets you have to meet for your contract to be renewed. Just confused why there are called contracts, like basically would I have to apply again to get on for another contract? Thanks in advance!

    • @perksofharriet
      @perksofharriet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn't say you have to meet certain targets to get new contract no but you do have a few performance reviews in your contract just to check in, see how you're doing and whether you feel like your meeting your own as well as your managers expectations but unless you've done something terribly wrong or your awful at your job they are always going to invite you back for another contract. Sometimes that's on the same ship, sometimes it may be that you're sent to another ship. You don't reapply no, you are generally given a new contact to sign at the end of your contract before you go on vacation to say that you're coming back. It's just a general cruise/ Disney thing or any job I guess really as to why they're called contracts. I hope that makes some kind of sense? :)

    Would it be okay if you wanted to work for just about 2 months? How does it work if the contract is longer and you break contract?

    • @perksofharriet
      @perksofharriet  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'd have to discuss your contract length/ availability with your recruiter to see if they would be able to offer you a shorter contract. I'm not entirely sure what would happen if you broke contract as I've not witnessed it first hand before but I imagine worst case scenario you probably wouldn't be invited back for another contract. Doing that you would portray yourself as someone who is unreliable, when they could just easily hire someone who would not break contract so i wouldn't recommend it, as long as you're transparent about your availability I'm sure they could make something work for you.
