you make me appreciate the crew so much more! recently sailed on symphony and i stood up every time the performance ended because not only was it an amazing show, but because i now understand how hard you guys have to work just to give the guests an experience of a lifetime! grateful for you and everything you guys do
Jordan, being a regular watcher, you've shared some of these aspects of living on a cruise ship in other videos. Things I learned from this video: 1. you have to purchase your uniform; and 2. having to pay a fee to eat in the Windjammer. It's interesting to learn about your life while working on board. ♥
I’m so glad you explained how different your role is compared to most on board. I worked for Disney Cruise and I was working SO much more than most cruise performers I see on TikTok etc
Having worked on another cruise line its so interesting to hear the differences and similarities. I wish our ship would have had a set time to get off, we were always congregating in the I-95 just waiting to hear when we could get off. But our crew mart was usually super cheap, so its interesting to hear yours was expensive. I also never had to pay to eat at the guest buffet.
We have been in Odyssey for two weeks and had the pleasure of meeting Bryan James, he told us about you and we told him that I have followed you since 2021 when you went on the Adventure of the Seas out of Nassau right after the Pandemic, he told us you were a very sweet girl! Love all your videos!
Giving over your passport is definitely a little scary but it’s a common thing to do across the shipping industry! When I join my ship I relinquish all my documents and STCW certs:)
Jordan I’ve watched you for several years. I live just outside of Toronto. Buffalo and Toronto have been blasted with snow. Your video was very interesting, but as The ship keeps your passport, how are you able to get off especially last summer and fall when you travelled to so many European Cities🙏🌠
I love to cruise (as a guest) and I love your videos! I'm a "glass half full" type of person as well so a really appreciate your sharing your experiences on the "other" side of ship board life.
you could try one of those lights that mimics sunlight for your windowless room. i know there are alarm clocks that brighten slowly like a rising sun. unsure if theres a solution that would be good for the entire duration of a day, but its something worth thinking about and researching!
it is heart breaking that they do not provide wifi for u...the MONEY they make from the crew ....uuuuhhhh that should not be a thing IMO lower the prices...and for wellness they should give FREE wifi n FREE uniforms...that is just sad so sad that those things r not provided. EVEN the penny pinchers at Disney give their cast FREE uniforms...and for crew moral ...food guys... food should be the same as wind jammer.
I enjoy all of your videos and wonder if you have done one about crew pay and benefits? I’m wondering about the HR side of things…medical / dental insurance / retirement plan? / payroll taxes & if you pay into US Social Security…may be too boring of topics so I understand if these topics are a pass but just thought I would put it out there. Safe and happy work & travels! I look forward to the next video!
Hey Jordan! Id love to see an interview or chat with someone from another department like business admin to compare how their experience differs from performers ❤
Loved the content of this video, certainly an education for us subscribers. I have always loved your shopping videos, would you consider doing a video of your favorite shops onboard this current contract? Would enjoy seeing what products they have for purchase and special sales. Enjoyed seeing Cocoa Bean on your cabin photo wall.
That was so interesting. As a retired dancer who once 16:26 toured with companies around the US we had generally one day off for every ten days performing.
I think a fun video might be to have you interview some of the other employment opportunities on board other than performing,( not all are blessed with your amazing talents). Is there an age limit,( or minimum) or health requirements for crew members?
Hi Jordan! We’re sailing on Explorer next month (February 18th-23rd) and I was wondering if you’ll still be on board? I’d love to see you perform, and my kids think it’s very impressive that you’re a You Tuber in addition to working on a ship 😊
Curious after you mentioned about passports how immigration works at ports? Are there no immigration procedures? I guess this would take too long when you’re only in a port such a short time, so I assume the company takes care of it and sends a list of all the people who got off to customs and immigration or something??
I’m retired now, but it used to be that Americans could get two passports. The US is one of the few countries that allow that. I don’t know if you still can or not. The usual scenario was that a passport was in some embassy awaiting visa processing, but you needed one for another trip in the interim.
Hi. I am a mariner. US FLAG. So we rarely had to handover our passports. But often times this is done because you signed a contract for work, and essentially you aren’t allowed to quit or get off the ship and not come back because you want to stay in that country. The downside is that bad ship owners can abandon you on the ship and you can’t leave. There are horror stories of people beings stuck on ships in terrible ports but they are unable to leave because they don’t have their passport and the local port authority had a lien against the ship and won’t let it depart.
Just found your channel and am loving it! We are avid RCCL cruisers and I’ve always wondered about additional gratuities for cabin stewards. Is cash best? Amazon cards? What have you heard or what are your thoughts? We will be on the Odyssey the end of March.
FYI some of us paid about $20 per hour of internet 10 years ago. You have it pretty good compared to that, even if it's not free. 😂😂 What you would pay now would not even get us the shitty crew internet cafe access. That being said, I would never have paid for a minute of access if that side job had been available to me at the time.
Even the crew mess food looks pretty good, especially taking into account that it's included in one's pay. Do all crew members have access to the same crew-only food options, or are there separate mess halls for higher and lower-ranked crew members? Roughly what fraction of crew members have access to guest food options?
I'll join the Explorer as a crew in August. My first contract. You know my destination. I saw a lot of your videos, it's just that I recently subscribed. How's your leg? a few weeks ago you had a little pain. I hope to see you one day, your friend and fan!
This is such an interesting video! It made me wonder, you mention the crew hallway so you don’t walk with the guest. Is that protocol or is that preference?
I’m shocked that you don’t get free WiFi and have to pay for your uniform. We cruised on Enchantment last summer. Would love to cruise again. The crew work so hard
I came across your video's at least 2 or more years ago. I stay because I love watching ice skating. and I like you and your Parents aka your dad is funny. and you go places I will never go. So I get to see those places threw you.
Fun info. Thank you! Like others I began watching during pandemic and never miss a post. We are Diamond Plus, but haven’t had the privilege of sailing with you…yet.
****DISCLAIMER****HOPEFULLY NOTHING BAD HAPPENS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR BOYFRIEND!! But what would happen with the living situation if you guys broke up? Are you stuck living together? or would one of you be able to move out?
Yeah, I was sort of thinking the same thing. The problem with housing unmarried couples together is that they could break up at any time. There isn't the commitment of marriage there. I can understand why Jordan wants love and companionship, but there's no commitment. I hope she doesn't end up broken-hearted, because she doesn't deserve that.
I’ve seen on other cruise ships that on embarkation day, there is a separate gangway for only crew members, as usually their is crew members leaving the ship & new crew members arriving. Do you have that option?
Hey Jordan was wondering about medical onboard. What happens if you have a broken tooth or UTI or something not critical like a broken bone. Do they antibiotics or treatments onboard for you guys?
I'm new to your channel and had to subscribe. I just got home from a cruise, have sailed on The Explorer (and other RCCL ships) and this vlog was quite informative to me! I've loved chatting with so many of the crew members I've met onboard the different ships, but hearing some of the insider details really was eye-opening and has made me even more appreciative of what they have to deal with. Thank you for sharing!
How do we say THANKS for sharing as much as you do. Perhaps you’ll be on a ship that visits San Francisco one day because I would like to treat both of you to lunch to express what you do for us.
Jordan - My wife and I have watched your videos since your first week on Allure. We have been cruising since 1990. Back then all of the cruise staff - singers, dancers, musicians and the rest of the entertainment staff all had their meals with us in the main dining room. We have a piece of Royal Caribbean cruise ship couture from 1990 that we would like to send to you. I will mail it to the address below.
Off topic. We will be going out of Galvston on royal, going to Honduras, cozumel and roatan. Will my 18 year old be allowed to drink on the ship once we are in the waters of those places?

Great video! Thank you!
agree ...she should make a part 2😊IMO
The fact that people are able to have their side jobs is something that I appreciate for you all as crew members.

Having to buy your own uniform is absolutely ridiculous!!
I’m so glad you explained how different your role is compared to most on board. I worked for Disney Cruise and I was working SO much more than most cruise performers I see on TikTok etc
I agree! I’m currently a performer for DCL and it seems it is very different to RCCL
Having worked on another cruise line its so interesting to hear the differences and similarities. How I can get a job on a cruise easily ?
We have been in Odyssey for two weeks and had the pleasure of meeting Bryan James, he told us about you and we told him that I have followed you since 2021 when you went on the Adventure of the Seas out of Nassau right after the Pandemic, he told us you were a very sweet girl! Love all your videos!

I love this idea!
I always wondered why you didn’t go to Windjammer more. Now I understand about the $3 and the specific time window. Interesting!
That was so interesting. As a retired dancer who once 16:26 toured with companies around the US we had generally one day off for every ten days performing.
Excellent video! One of the best I’ve seen about working on a cruise ship.
I think a fun video might be to have you interview some of the other employment opportunities on board other than performing,( not all are blessed with your amazing talents). Is there an age limit,( or minimum) or health requirements for crew members?
It's not just "amazing talents" It takes ALOT of hard work to get to the level of a professional performer...
Was fun to watch! Thanks for all the information! I think I knew most of it from watching your other videos but was fun to see it all in one spot!

I see your parents come on every cruise. Do they give you discounts for family members? I would hope so! Love watching your videos!
I imagine port days is when you get more "time off"? Ice skating shows are usually in the evening especially on port days.
i love your vids they always make me smile 🥹🩷
fav girllll so proud of youuu
Your cabin is so clean
This reminds me of assumptions of aena/stadium staff. It's work and we don't get to see games or shows 90% of the time or know what is going on.
Hopefully, you can get on the Icon soon with the bigger skating rink!
I've always wondered how you and the crew got alone time away from roommates or does everyone have to keep working without a break
Just found your channel and am loving it! We are avid RCCL cruisers and I’ve always wondered about additional gratuities for cabin stewards. Is cash best? Amazon cards? What have you heard or what are your thoughts?
We will be on the Odyssey the end of March.
That is just crazy they charge crew for Wifi. Being able to stay in touch with family and friends back home should be free to all crew.
That's one of your best vlogs. Thanks you for explaining. Love your channel
Really interesting! Thank you Jordan.
I love every video from you, even though i have never cruised before 😅

She's said before that the crew food isn't that great, and reiterates that in the video.
We take reservations as well
Loved this episode Jord, thx.
This really helped, thanks!!

this is incredible, 1 questions, if you and your bf broke up what would happen with the room?
I applied for an IT Support job on Royal Carribean. Let's see how it goes
One of your BEST Vlogs!
thanks so much bob☺️
I’m shocked that you don’t get free WiFi and have to pay for your uniform. We cruised on Enchantment last summer. Would love to cruise again. The crew work so hard
It’s crazy that people work months on end without a day off 😧

Hey Jordan was wondering about medical onboard. What happens if you have a broken tooth or UTI or something not critical like a broken bone. Do they antibiotics or treatments onboard for you guys?
they’ll usually send us to medical off the ship in one of the ports if not the US home port!
My daughter is in technical theatre and would love to work on the ship. How is the best way to go about finding a position
“Hundreds and thousands a week”. How big is the seating area?
i meant over the years of working onboard lol whoops

Jordan what favorite thing on explore of the seas so far
Do you think i will have time to go out from ship if i am kitchen staff ???
Are you able to view the ships camera so you can see what’s outside?
yes!! there’s a channel on our tv that shows the view from the bridge
Great video! Thanks for the info
Jord, what do you do to help new cast members who struggle with living on board?
I thought she said hundreds of thousands?
I wondered the same!😊😆
@@cathytussing4718 For this ship, I think there is about 50 total cast members between the ice, stage, and aqua show. Total crew would be about 3500.
Can a Cruise worker can work till 50 years old ? Or is there anyone from the cruise who work for 50 years old ?
Are you coming to Gators on August 10 I work 1:00 to 2..ok please come early bring your skate 🛼 cast and your boy friend
the boy bawang box at the bottom of the slop chest! omg! happy for the Filipino crews that they have it onboard 😂

It's been snowing in Buffalo ny
