- The Battle of Bukit Timah in Singapore took place in Feb 1942. This critical battle would decide if the invading Japanese Army could continue their fight or had to back down against the greater British allied numbers.
To date, there has never been a comprehensive retelling of this battle in its entirety despite its importance in the Fall of Singapore. Most recollections have been snippets of the actual battle, and many include errors and misconceptions that have never been corrected.
This is my narrative of that milestone event that would finally lead to the end of an empire.

This is an excellent video of the attempted defence and final fall of Singapore in February, 1942. Lots of detailed information about the Imperial Japanese Army and the organisation of its divisions, brigades and batallions etc., and likewise, for the defending forces under the British Malaya Command. Superb footage of soldiers in the jungle and movements of armoured vehicles together with maps and commentaries of battles and skirmishes fought in the days leading up to the surrender of Singapore. A superb effort that will delight viewers who want to know more about what happened during those fateful days. Keep up the good work James.
... amazing details you painstakingly put together in your video about the fall of Bukit Timah during WW2 ... Feb 1942 Salutes to You 👏 🙌 Sir !
various mentions of Reformatory Road , Reformatory School , Sleepy Valley, also Ulu Pandan's 15 inch guns of BounaVista battery at junction of Uu Pandan Road, atop high grounds, .... also former Bukit Timah Camp where Fourth Avenue Residences are now

Thank you Mr James Tan
Another superbly detailed addition to your history series. Well done sir, please keep up the great work it is appreciated around the world.
Thank you for your hard work in doing this video. I am sure your sharing of Singapore history will benefit many and the future generations.
Wonderful and detailed work James. This was a 'British disaster'. My Mother-in-law often described life in the Mandai Tekong Village under Japanese rule where as a teenager she must always cut her hair and disguise herself as a male. My Grandfather only arrived with his British Regiment in the immediate weeks before the Fall of Singapore and spent the rest of the War a prisoner building the infamous Thailand - Burma railway. Thanks for all you efforts to detail the events as they unfolded and preserve this history for future generations.
Great work James, thanks for sharing.
Can't even imagine the amount of work you have put into getting this series together. Good job! Appreciated.
Amazingly well researched. So surprised by the effects of terrain study and study of the war journals on both sides to piece the details… superb!
Thanks James.
Incredibly detailed. Keep up the good work James!
Wow this clip is so interesting.Watching this is like the past coming back alive. I felt like I waken up from a long dream. Such familiar places like toh tuck, beauty world been taken granted and I couldn't imagine such rich history from these familiar places. I going rewatch this again. Very meaningful work. Thank you!

hi James, do you think it is possible to create a computer game based on WW2 Singapore?
I don’t see why not?
@@JamesTannnice! i feel our younger generations are too distant from one of the most important history of Singapore. Something to remind our future generations woud be good. tot a game for them would pique their interest.
Maybe a movie from.soldier's perspective.
thank you so much
