    That’s the best advice I have ever heard James. Absolutely spot-on.
    Humility and sharing information are stand-out suggestions. Can’t believe we will be in Singapore in ten days time, our first time ever!

    Appreciate the part you mentioned about personal etiquette, really pissed when those birders keep asking where the bird is loudly when they just arrived at the spot without self observation.

    When I first got used to birding, I only used a Canon bridge camera. By the way, I love watching your videos because I can get a lot of tips and knowledge from you. Thumbs up for your work. Thanks. Happy birding.

    Hi sir thanks for the informative video! Yes I started birding in March and I'm hooked! I learned what is a "lifer" as it's always indicated by some birders when they post on social medial😁

    • @JamesTann
      @JamesTann  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, once you've seen it, it's for 'Life'! You can't un-see it anymore, that's why its a Lifer.

    Do you organise, or have a WhatsApp, Telegram, etc group chat, where you lead small groups for birding? If not, time to start one.

    Thanks for the information. I am often confused when terms like 'lesser' 'greater' is used before bird names. Can explain what it means?

      Ha ha, that will take a whole video by itself! The naming system that can be best answered by an ornithologist who can tell you the finer points of differentiation of the species.

    Hi Mr. James.
    In one of your videos you use a sling/strap on your lens (not camera body).
    What strap do you use ?
    Thank you.

    • @JamesTann
      @JamesTann  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know which video it was in? I have a number of different straps but I think you may be referring to the black one which I usually use with my longer lens. If that is the case, then it would be the Blackrapid camera strap. Go to their website blackrapid.com for more details there.

    what is a good focal length for an slr camera lens for beginners?

    • @JamesTann
      @JamesTann  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Patrick, there are no hard and fast rules for this. Personally, I usually use a 300mm with a detachable 1.4X teleconvertor that would suit most of my walking shoots. For a begionner, you might want to consider a 70-200 zoom but as you progress you might want a longer lens.

    Hi sir , would you choose a Panasonic lumix fz70 or a nikon p600 or a beginner when then price differnace is 50$

    • @JamesTann
      @JamesTann  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would realise that both these cameras have been discontinued and are about 10 years old now. Anyway, technically, both are similar and comparable, but I think the Nikon has an edge with its slightly better resolution sensor and it continuous autofocus. It also can do slow motion video which is good for birds in flight. Try google to get a better comparison.
