I gotta try this. Looks simple yet tasty. Ive been looking for a spaghetti sauce recipe that was totally from scratch and this is the only video I could find that wasn't using canned ingredients. Good job
I made this today and it is delicious! I did use tomatoes from my garden and added a small red pepper also, and used fresh basil and parsley, but otherwise stuck to the recipe. It is fabulous. Thank you so much. The video was really helpful. I’ve never made spaghetti sauce from scratch and was a little afraid to try, but this makes it so easy.
Daniel, thank you for your comment. I’m so happy you like the recipe. Nice addition of the red pepper. Nothing better than your own tomatoes from your garden.
Hi Wendy. We Love gardening, and grow as much of our own veg as possible. We put up our sauce by canning. Freezer's is are reserved for bulk bought meat and homemade sausage. Tip on freezing in jars. Use wide necks, that way when the sauce expands, it won't blow the necks off the jars. 😊 That sauce recipe looks awesome! TYFS Wendy, Mark and Rosa
Wendy, I just stumbled upon your channel today while looking for something to make with the tail end of my tomato crop. I made this sauce to go with dinner tonight, and it was insanely delicious! So thanks for sharing this. Oh, definitely subscribing as it looks like you've got a whole bunch of other tasty-looking recipes. 😊
I think you do the onion with the tomato paste right at the start to cook out the acid. also if you peel the tomato by slicing the skin, boil, then into cold bath. the skin comes off easy. the skin will leave a texture. another option to add would be meat and bones. by browning the meat first. saute deglace with the onion sweat. then when you get the meat flavors loose. the tomato paste. then add the tomato. then add the meat from earlier back in. into the oven from there for 2 hours.
I was making sauce from scratch for my In laws Michigan. They were giving me a hard time about adding a bit of sugar. Spaghetti sauce shouldn't have sugar they said. I think the food is terrible there.
I do remove the seeds but I don’t remove the skins I don’t use sugar or salt though, but everybody I see make sauce uses salt. I guess I could run down to the beach and get sea salt from the ocean. When I say homemade sauce it’s 100% from my backyard 👍🏻
@@The_Bakers_Loft Roma Tomato Basil Garlic Oregano Scallion Rosemary I will say take it easy on the Rosemary. The first time I made it this way it was a bit overpowering. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t exactly what I was looking for either.
Now I'll have to look up how to make tomato paste. It ain't all the way homemade if you're pulling ingredients from a can. Looked great up until the can.
@@The_Bakers_Loft Sarcasm not needed, but thanks for responding. I went to another post and found out how to make it. Very easy. I just thought it would have a far more "homemade" taste without the can involved. Merely constructive criticism is all. No offense meant. Again, thanks.
Just watch out to not burn the garlic it will become very ugly in taste and never ever blend sauce in the pot - you can destroy the pot surface (like I did once :D).
..and you get your information from?? Check out the U.S. Dept of Agriculture. Freezing does not destroy nutrients in food. After about a year..maybe, but my sauce doesn't stay in the freezer long. Do your homework before spewing out negativity.
@@The_Bakers_Loft pffftt! And you're advising me to rely on information that advocates/allows chicken/meat chlorination? You're having a laugh!! Either that or you're a really gullible yank.
Thank you! I needed this! You help me understand what to do with my tomatoes and peppers from my home garden! Awesome Video! Thank you! 😊
Glad it was helpful! I hope you like the recipe.
They are putting so many preservatives in the jarred spaghetti sauce now, this is the only way to go, fresh! Thank you!
Thank! I agree about all the added preservatives.
The sauce looks delicious! We are all onboard with the garlic amount!
Thank you! Lots of garlic is a good thing.
I turned my friend onto this recipe. So simple, but so delicious! It makes using canned tomatoes a waste of time. Thanks!
Hi Cheryl! I love hearing from my viewers! So happy you like my recipe and also for sharing it ~Wendy
It’ll be my first time trying it but from searching multiple recipes I think I’ll try yours.
Hi Charles. Thanks for trying my recipe. I'd love to know how it turned out for you.
@@The_Bakers_Loft I sure will. I’m doing it this weekend 🤞🏾

Yes, about wide neck jars. I use them now after experiencing cracked jars
Thank you for the recipe

Homemade tomato sauce is so WORTH IT! I can't go back to canned/bottled.

❤❤❤ PASTA SAUCE ABSOLUTELY TASTE LIKE SHIT WITHOUT A BIT OF SUGAR !!
That bit of sugar makes the tomatoes flavor less acidic. I hope you added it.
👍

@@The_Bakers_Loft
Roma Tomato
Basil
Garlic
Oregano
Scallion
Rosemary
I will say take it easy on the Rosemary. The first time I made it this way it was a bit overpowering. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t exactly what I was looking for either.
Instead of sugar I use diced carrots.
That’s a great alternative.
Thankgod it’s with fresh tomatoes because the canned ones aren’t available where I live
I'm curious where you live. Thanks for watching my video.
You can’t put chilli flakes in after the sauce you add to pinion and garlic
Why not? I’ve always done it this way.
Now I'll have to look up how to make tomato paste. It ain't all the way homemade if you're pulling ingredients from a can. Looked great up until the can.

come on you had it going until the tomato paste thumbs down
So negative. If you look at the recipe in the description, it's an optional ingredient.
Horrendous!! Tomato sauce in the freezer? What's the point? You destroy all the nutrients.
