Got to watch Eternals last night and I gotta say it got off to a strong start. The various deviant designs are great. But… I found it meandered a lot in the first half. Lots of exposition. Lots of jumping between time periods. The dialogue and characters felt a bit stiff. BUT - about half way through there’s a big reveal about the mythology surrounding the celestials and the eternals, and the plot comes into focus. I don’t know anything about the comics so I found this really really cool. Then from that point onwards it gathered a lot of momentum, the characters seemed to come to life, and it built to a very epic and satisfying conclusion. I ended up really loving it.

Not quite right. Mu came first followed by lemuria followed by Atlantis. May have actually been real. I’ll be reviewing tonight on my channel. I’m not an Eternals fan but am excited to see it. Thanks for the video/refresher Rob. You’re the best in the business. I have a small channel. I used to read comics in the 80’s & 90’s but got out of it for a long time and getting back into them has been super fun, but confusing for me. I definitely need more help directing me where to go and what to read. This channel has been an amazing help for me and I admire your dedication!
I personally like karkus the deviant that joined the eternals. He was unique with the soul of a poet and the strength to throw down when necessary. His hide could take some damage too. I wish he could recover faster but he's cool the way he is. Kind of like a Ben Grim meets the Beast
I watched the movie and it was cool, the thing that bothered me the most was the colors, the whole movie was bleak with Zack Snyder dark colors, down to their costumes colors. It looked like a DCU movie. It didn't look like an artistic choice, it looked like a "movies today are like that", like those orange and blue posters every movie now uses. They could have come with more variety visually in general, the eternals powers kinda looked the same with those yellow effects that I take are celestial technology? Also the deviants looked way less humanoid than I expected aside from when they absorbed eternals, which to the general public didn't gave them the sense that deviants are generally displayed as more humanoid in comics with fewer looking like total dragon monsters or something. I think that choice dehumanize them in a plot perspective too.
I’m glad Eternals changed the look of the typical MCU movie. Zack Snyder movies look good,Idk why people think it’s “bleak “ it allows so much more detail and contrast to come through. I don’t like super bright look-it’s loud and destroys small details, distracting like those Transformers movies. Like made for children.Just my opinion though.
The Deviants: A species that is like the third cousins to mutants, but like those cousins that live in the deep part of Alabama. And the only really famous one is the one from space who is also an Eternal.
Geez the Alabama joke is getting old, could have made a wrong turn joke, but that movie is based in West Virginia. Everyone should know by now that the European royal families were all related and bred with each other, as in cousins having kids with each other to keep the bloodline pure, but no gotta low blow an entire state when you can find cousins dating each other all over the Earth.
I'd watch a video about Kro, but I'd more readily be ecstatic to see you do a theory discussion video for how the mutants will now be most likely to be introduced to the MCU, regarding how they could possibly be linked to the deviants and excess deviation from the new judgement day Avengers vs. X-Men vs. Eternals information.
Just want to mention you were kind of off about evolution, we wouldn’t gain night vision, unless that was a mutation that we knew to breed in excess, natural selection is seemingly random
Always happy to learn more about characters I've never heard of before, so a video on Kro would be cool. Are, or were, there any (Earth) Deviant heroes? It seems like something that Marvel would do eventually, if they haven't already.
If the Skrull are a Deviant variant of their race, why do all Skrull look the same? I thought the Deviants all are wildly different from each other. Also, why didn't the Celestials purge the Skrull when they conquered their world like they usually do whenever the Deviants win their struggle against the Eternals and base race.
Thats not really how evolution works, dude. Its just the genes that work best are what survives. Not that people actually reactively adapt. Its a rather passive process.
I was looking to see if someone had called him out. It’s called Natural selection and it takes thousands of years. if his explanation was true we wouldn’t have to worry about climate change.
@@TheCrazierz he's not talking about comic book evolution here. He's trying to describe a real world process incorrectly. Like the other person mentioned, if evolution was so powerful and such an active process it would solve most problems within thousands if not hundreds of years.

My guess would be Human, as Humans were made with future potential - which is why some are born with powers or can tap into magical energies. Some humans have the X-Gene, and why some people get powers when exposed to radiation instead of cancer (like Hulk and Spider-man). Atlantians are likely a branch of humanity that evolved and adapted to a different environment using the potential that Humans naturally have. Again, this is my personal thoughts, and could be very wrong, after all comics have been retconned so many times, it is hard to keep track.
The antlantans are all deviants.During the second host the celestials sank antlantis and the deviants too. The ones who survived stayed under water. The antlantins that we know nowadays are the second generation of the original deviants that lived on land before they sunk in the ocean. Namor is among this group. However part human.
I'm sure the Lovecraftian horror is merely symbolism. I prefer how the Norse and Celts describe their intermediate Divine beings, more beauty, less soul devouring.
