I remember when Galactus was the most powerful being in the Marvel universe but then one by one they kept creating characters that were greater than him. I could not help but be disappointed at Galactus' diminished status.
Galactus is somewhat underrated, in my opinion. I've always liked him. The complexity of the character appeals to me. He's a threat, but not flat-out evil. I find it sad when some people sell his powers short.
A year late but: well, it's easy to sell short now since he's pretty much a cosmic measuring stick for other character's powers, all marvel does now to show how "relevant" a character should be, is showing them beating or going toe to toe against him. The number of people who have now is insane and sadly diminishes galactus as a character now.
Honestly I think Galactus' purpose nowadays is to show off another character's strength He's basically the cosmic measuring stick If they wanna emphasize a character's strength on a cosmic level , they show them defeating Galactus
Those words JUST came out of my mouth. He's like the first person picked on a pick up basketball team because of his offense, but someone always puts the defense on him and shuts him down.
It's honestly sad everyone with a functional brain know Galactus is such a powerful cosmic being not as strong as eternity and all them but powerful but people underate him because marvel uses him as a punching bag
Galactus should have been first in this series. He's the one of the first , if not THE FIRST, Omega level characters that showed up but definitely the most well known.
I would like to see a series on powerful artifacts in comics, such as the Ultimate Nullifier, Cosmic Cube, Heart of the Universe and substances like Nth metal, adamantium, vibranium and stuff like that. I think only the sealed & hungry versions are weaker than Franklin, while a fully powered Galactus is molding him to be the next Galactus in the next universe.
What I've never understood about Galactus is, if he is basically a cosmic conceptual constant and has powers of matter and energy manipulation, why does his ability to convert energy rely on technology? Or is this simply the way that his ability to convert energy is perceived, just like his physical appearance is based on individual cultures' perception? Like, why does he need technology to do what he is made for? Doesn't make sense.
He does not need techology, but using technology its the best way to "eat" planets, otherwise he would have to use/waste his own power to convert and entire planet into pure energy he can eat and he would gain very little overall, the exchange would not be worth it. Technology takes more time but does the work for him and allows him to not waste a single ounce of his energy
