I've had mine for 2 months and really like it. It performs on rocks/mud/gravel paths really well and I pull around 3500lbs daily with ease. Not sure why heated seats, auto wipers, and telescopic steering isn't a standard thing by now. Last annoyance is it doesn't have a handle above the driver's side window and I miss grabbing on to that during long rides or in traffic. Overall the truck is solid and powerful and can be a good work truck, off roader, or a grocery runner.
I drove every midsize truck on the market last month. It came down to a Canyon AT4 or a Frontier P4X. The turbo 4 wasn't what swayed me ultimately to the Frontier. It was the overwhelming number of issues current owners of those trucks are having. From bad windshield seals, denting roofs, camera modules going out, infotainment system dying randomly, no start because of bad updates, a/c units going out, it went on and on. Not saying the Nissan's are perfect, but the number and frequency of problems are much, much less. I do agree the Colorado / Canyon are the best looking midsizers out there, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on one.
For sure man! Frontier is the safest bet. I’m following those issues but they are there with all new models unfortunately. I’m a systems engineer and you basically get one shot during prototyping to get it right. There’s endless unknowns when you place projects into full-production. I’ll make a video explaining all of this stuff.
The frontier would be perfect if they didn’t eff up the backseat sitting straight up.back could use a couple extra inches of leg room to. Maybe they’ll change that when they update it…but then it’ll be over $50k
I agree with everything you said. I wanted the new Taco, but too expensive and wasn’t thrilled about the 4 cylinder Turbo. Love the look of the Trail Boss, and even test drove, but you can’t get enough info from a test drive in my opinion. After much research and finding a lot of information on the Colorado (even Chevy technicians) I bought a ‘24 Nissan Pro 4X. The truck is awesome, and the look is great, but I still admire the Trail Boss when I see it.

You do realize if the turbomax was actually optimized for 91-93 octane, it'd match HP with the 5.3L V8 in silverado while already beating it in torque? Time to get over it. Turbos are more fun anyway.
The size of Chevrolet four-cylinder turbo engine is extremely large in comparison to others. It’s the same displacement as Ford’s V6. Meaning that the engine will not be under constant load because it’s too small, and it will not need much in the way of forced induction for optimal performance. This will increase the longevity of the engine and provide a smoother power band. I do wish it was more efficient though.
Homeboy Toyota charging 57k. Your exactly rite. I asked not long ago for Toyota price on a SR model. I bought a SR Toyota Tacoma ext cab 4cyl in 2021 for 28,300. Same truck now they want 49k before taxes their crazy. Really nice trailboss for 41k. Sold
No way is the GM 2.7 turbo 4 better than the Nissan naturally aspirated V-6. Nissan has the best engine and powertrain on the market, and GM has never been known for quality whereas Nissan trucks have a long-running reputation for building quality trucks.
Trail Boss nailed a lot of things right for the price. I do wish they would have relocated rear shocks like they did on ZR2, but oh well. G80 is functional, but would still prefer normal rear locker.
Fortunately it’s a large 4cyl so it won’t be like the 2.3 from Ford. They definitely should have left the V6 as an option. It was already paid for and easy to source. They don’t listen to me though ha
The "moderately" equipped Sr-5 taco starts at $45K. The trail boss has more features and a LOT more power and it's $41K. There is no contest, the taco loses across the board by a wide margin.

Toyota is pathetic. An their new generation still had same pathetic HP as the v6. Shameful
He made 1 big mistake. The change for 2024 is chevy did away with the 3rd engine. He states in here this has 390 foot torque. The 23 did bit that's the biggest change for 24. There's only 2 engines. The WT an LT have the smaller turbo. The trail boss Z72 an ZR2 all have the turbomax engine ALL PRODUCING 310HP AN 430 FOOT POUNDS TORQUE STOCK! No upgrade necessary. Other than that all good
There is only one 2.7 engine and has been the whole time. There were just different tunings for the same engine that produced differing amounts of torque.

Many share this same thought. The one saving grace for Chevy is that it’s actually a very large displacement 4-cylinder engine that doesn’t need a lot of forced induction to produce adequate power for the size & weight of the vehicle. This power plant in a 1500 truck, no deal!

You can get cruise control. You just have to select it when building the truck. I agree it’s stupid and should be included. You’d be surprised at how many base trucks don’t automatically come with it. Many have crank windows as well.
