    Great video and demonstration!!! When I designed the speaker with Mick, we really wanted to capture some of the magic of the older Celestion speakers, while delivering a unique sound all its own. It was never meant to be a direct competitor to the V30, but I see why people group them together. Maybe I can send something new we are developing to you in the future 👍🏼

      hey man! is the DV77 the speaker that is used in your plugin as well?

    • @OMEGAAMPWORKS
      @OMEGAAMPWORKS 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@6oundStudio Unfortunately no. The DV final prototyping was completed at a similar time that our Plugin was being completed so we weren't able to add it. The speakers in our plugin are based on the VM12-65 that we had produced, and the MS-60 in the plugin was a prototype that we never released. We will be releasing an IR pack that I highly recommend as we feel that they better represent what our cabs and speakers sound like.

    • @NoelFernandes
      @NoelFernandes 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I think the opposite, a tremendous lack of thightness and transient response. Sounds too soft, too compressed. The high end too "harsh". It reminds me a little bit the old greenbacks at the breakup, but, messy. just like any eminence speaker. I say that eminence speakers sounds great in the bedroom at low volume, but in the real world of stage and studio, it doesn't do the job at all. There's always something bothering me.

    Great speaker - I know I'm biased but I loved the blend of DV77 and the LCFR here! The rolled off presence of the DV77 really profits from the grind that the LCFR brings to to the table! Now I need to get some DV's to blend them. Thanks for making me spend money

    When I bought my Marshall 2x12 used I was pleased when I found it was loaded with a DV-77 and a V-30 G12. I feel they complement each other very well. Was not disappointed, solid vid as usual. Like I mentioned in the group, love my pairing of the DV-77 and CV-75 in my KSR cab.
    Will say, from a production standpoint, I will cycle between a V30/G12H for stuff that is primarily on 6 strings, but for my stuff, which is all ERG related, that aforementioned combo has been my goto.

    I bought the DV-77 right when it came out because I was having such an issue with my Marshall JCM800 4010 combo amp that had a Celeston Wolverine speaker in it, the top end would rip my head off and literally give me headaches. I swapped in the DV-77 and absolutely magic, so pleasing to the ears in clean or driven sounds! I love the note articulation and the lack of high-end fizz. I love the midrange to me is where it's at and how it definitely keeps the low-end tight and defined. Definitely my favorite speakers, especially on bright amps.
    I want to get more for other amps I have , however a month after I bought mine , I went back to the same store to get 4 more for a 4x12 cab and the guy told me they more then doubled the price in a month. That just turned me off. I've just been waiting to see what happens. Has absolutely nothing to do with the sound, still my absolutely favorite speakers, thanks for this comparison video, it definitely adds more reassurance that I made the right choice. I don't have thw same means to do a comparison like this , so it definitely helps. Thanks ,Cheers!

    Subscribed! This was just the vid I was looking for! Nice way to compare without putting it into a mix, just raw riffs to hear each nuance of the speakers. Well done man! I was specifically looking for this because I only have one cab (not looking to spend now for something else) with vintage 30s and was looking into the DV 77s lately. This showed me the vintage 30s will sit in a live mix for me well with the frequency range I'm looking for. It makes sense since I don't have any 7 or 8 string guitars or songs I play and I feel the DV 77 does have its place in a modern aggressive area for heavy music for sure. (just what my ears hear, Im sure others might hear different) It seems to have more of a darker set for lower chug stuff, but I'll stick with my vintage 30s since they are good enough, and I'll save a bit until Im ready to tackle a new cab down the line. I love the frequency response display too, cheers man!

    DV77 has become my preferred speaker to listen to. It mixes well almost anything. I have one matched up with a Redback in a 212 cab and the blend of the two puts my 412 Mesa cab to shame in a lot of ways. V30s are cool, but they are so ubiquitous. They also seem to have a stifled top end that either lacks fidelity, or can be too harsh/fizzy… but I don’t need to tell you about the V30 😂!

    Ive always felt like the DV77 was missing some of the upper aggression of the V30 in a mix, but they blend great together. The DV almost feels like if you pitched the V30 curve down, or like a bigger, deeper V30.

      No, not at all. The Demon can get a little bitey under the mic but you can fix that with post EQ. In the room, it doesn't bother me and yes, the brighter Demon blends very well with the smoother DV-77

      @@TheOtherJohnBrowne My guy, The only videos I could not find are with the DV-77 and Neo Creamback. I watched comparison after comparison. I didn't want 2 of the same speakers in my cab. I wanted salt/pepper on one sugar/spice with the other. I loved how the DV-77 sounds and loved the gritty/creamy nature of the Neo Creamback. Sweating, I pulled the trigger buying both with discounts, one from MF and one from Sweetwater. I was very happy with my purchase. My rig is indeed mine, lol.

    Are the speakers 16 or 8 ohm ? What your though about ohm value? I owned a set of 4x Mesa UK 2007 16 ohms and a set a 4x DV77 8 ohms. I like both, the DV77 has a very pleasing frequency curve while the V30 has more highs, seem to have less bottom and more complexe mids

      The speakers featured in this video are all rated at 8 Ohms. Based on my extensive V330 testing. 16 Ohms appear to be slightly ducked in the mid range with the tendency for slightly elevated highs which is very much in line with what the experts say
