Normally I default to V30 but the WGS Reaper and Hesu Demon are the most balanced with Reaper having more presence. Both would work together well. Thanks for this.
Warehouse reaper and dv-77 for me. A 4x12 with two of each in X patern in a Mesa cabinet would be great. Hesu Demon sounds good.... I'm tired of the Mesa v30.
I got the x pattern DV77 and reaper HP and it sounds too dull and fizzy to me, unfortunately. Paired together, the presence of the reaper doesn't cut through. Also, I think they excel with different setups. The DV77 likes more scooped high gain amp sound and the Reaper HP likes a more mid dominant lower gain amp sound. The Reaper HP pairs nicely with my Badlander, sounds juicy and sweet to me.

Different strokes. I still love Mesa v30s, plan on owning a Mesa 212 again at some point, but I've really been loving the dv-77. That thing has solved a lot of issues for me that I'd had with v30s over the years.

I got a mesa 4x12 after wanting one forever and hated the v30s, I didn't want to deal with swapping it so I sold the cab. The v30's sounded so narrow compared to my line 6 rebranded eminence speakers. Also, the top end was very unpleasant and fizzy to me. The dv-77s may be a good fit for me.
Thank you for adding the clean tones, it made it a really interesting comparison. I’m more and more sold on the DV-77 but I think a combination of DV-77 and The reaper would probably be awesome! I enjoyed the Hesu in the mix but not on its own. The V30 just seems out of place at this point!
@@MetalHeadProductions I was thinking the same thing. I like the DV-77 the most. I want to like the Reaper but there's a spikiness in the treble I don't like. The Veteran, another speaker I wanted to like also seems to have this.
Awesome demo bro and I’d love to hear a Demon, DV77, V30, and T75. I need a high quality audio comparison to get a tonal comparison between ALL the speakers you demo’d against the T75. I have a Herbert MK3 and it sounds good through my oversized Mesa 412 but not $4K kinda good lol. I’ve never been a huge fan of the T75s but I’ve always been biased to the Mesa tone. Now with a Herbert I have concluded to hear what all the noise is about I may need to hear it through some T75s in a different cab. It sounds significantly better with my T75 IRs through my Captor X through my studio monitors. But as we know this isn’t the same as the REAL tonal differences heard in a cab.
DV and Reaper for me. The Hesu had a quack to it. Something about a V30 around 4K sounds piercing to me. This is based on unprocessed natural tones. Really liked the Reaper clean tone. Still all better than crappy entry level garbage. Good vids bro! Keep it up!
Thanks for the amazing video. Sure this was lot of work. Interesting results. For my personal taste the V30 ist the weakest of the presented speakers. I like my 12"Demons in the 212Hesu cab as well as my HH-custom in the Laney-112IRT, but i will not give an single Euro for a Celestion Vintage V30 speaker. Too spiky and harsh for me. I also can not understand, why so many of youtubers/guitarists go for the Shure SM57 when miking. This mic may have good results on a snare drum, but for guitar amp micing I would prefer a more linear and less spiky dynamic Microphone like a Sennheiser 906. I hope these Warehouse speakers come to Europe soon, so i can give them a try. keep on rockin'.
If I ain't wrong the Reaper is like a high powered and warmer sounding G12H30. I'm genuinely surprised by the results because I didn't expect a G12H30 based speaker to sound better than the Vintage 30 for metal.
@@zAvAvAz The V30 is probably a good example of when it becomes a success because it went so far it's a bit too much. Its sound is so V shaped I always prefer more old school speakers like greenbacks for metal, nice mids. Check Kohle video on this vintage speaker (I think a speaker like Tommy Iommi used or something like that), it slays the V30's bee sound.
the Celestion V30 is a great speaker. I prefer the Warehouse Reaper higher wattage speaker for the power handling capability and fuller sound. I prefer a more full ranger sound . The rest cam be adjusted through the controls in the amp.combining I would put 2 celestions and 2 reapers as a combo in a 4X12 cab for all out monster tone!
I was thinking of getting a Hesu cab with Demon speakers, but this changed my mind. I liked the V30s more because they don't have the scoop that I don't like.
1. Reaper 2. DV77 3. Vintage 30 4. Demon (not even close to the others) I'm pretty sure a Rectifier 212 with a Reaper and a DV77 in it would sound incredible. I have a Rectifier 212 with a pair of of Reaper 30s in it & love that. I keep thinking about swapping out 1 of them for a WGS Green Beret. I'd like to get a DV77 instead but that's a no go since my Reapers are 16 ohm & the DV77 only comes in 8. I wish they'd make a 16 ohm DV77!
The Demon sounds like it’s best suited for a Swedish chainsaw, HM-2 sound. I’m waiting on 16-ohm DV-77 and Swamp Thang to get here to try together in a 2x12, and if I like it eventually X them in my old 4x12. Otherwise it’s back to the drawing board.
DV77 sounds warm, less harsh, with great mids. The Warehouse was fizzy but in the mix it has a great tone, Hesu sounds good in the mix but sounds a little bit hollow, the V30 sounded muffled in this exemple, good mids but too nasal sounding in lower mids, maybe because of the mesa cab...
The Reaper caught my ear, I was just listening whilst doing other things and immediately had to look up at the screen the second I heard it. Thanks for the vid! Been looking at getting a custom cab made, and I don't know shit about speakers so stuff like this is muchos helpful \m/
Always funny to hear “metal”, like metal means one single thing. I don’t like any of those, but i suppose they’re great for modern stuff, active pups, etc... I like the old school (late 80’s/early 90’s) sound. The G12M-65 Creamback is perfect for what i’m looking for, despite it not being on any trendy metal speakers list
In the mix I dug the DV-77 on the first bit, but the rest the Hesu sounded bitchin. At 2:12 the DV-77 is the only take that had blast beats which made it harder to make out the guitar compared to all the rest with that double bass rhythm, outside of the mix I had the same preference but with the DV-77 on the cleans for sure. Awesome comparison across the board though man, very well done!
How’s the low end in the 77? So far in my speaker test nothing beats a v30 on low end for metal. I like Creamback H75s but they had no low end. They cut though.
For easier AB comparison between the dv77 and reaper, or hesu demon and v30: Riff 1, dv77: @1:20 demon: @1:33 reaper: @1:46 V30: 1:59 Riff 2 Dv77: @2:13 Demon @2:24 Reaper @2:35 V30 @2:48
Great comparison! It's funny, I've heard other comparisons between the Hesu and the V30 and thought they sounded awesome. Here they sound like doodoo well not real doodoo but thin as a piece of paper compared to the other two. Reaper won hands down in the mix, Eminence tied with the Reaper out of the mix. Never heard of the reaper before. Choptones does a pretty good comparison between the v30&hesu. What cab you putting these in/how big?
It's funny, I thought the same about the hesu and v30 until I ended up trying the DV-77. they sound thinner because they are totally focused in the upper mids, whereas the DV-77 and reaper have more going on across the frequency spectrum. Right now I have these in a pretty big seismic audio 212 closed back cab. It does the job and is a decent sounding cab, actually, but Im also waiting on a Zilla fat boy thats being made for me.
@@MetalHeadProductions yeah im putting those in a huge 2x12 cab its really a 2x15. Its sealed with clear gel caulk throughout glued and deck screwed with thick foamy interior. Also going to be trying these 4 speakers in a custom aluminum cab with ball shapes around the speakers. molded from giant beach balls. i wish they shall make this speaker in a 15" or 18" for me or some other custom size.
Problem with Hesu’s is that I’m going to spend $314 for two and $240 for 2 Reapers. The DV77’s would be about $250 for 2. Do you think an X mix of the DV77 and Reeper HP would so good? What about the Veteran 30 paired with the DV77?
I have the dv77 paired with a wharehouse veteran30 in a home made solid Baltic birtch 212 cab and I'm satisfied with the pairing but I may pick up another dv77 and see if I like it better stand alone I have another 212 cab loaded with reapers and have not paired one with the dv77 but I might give it a wirl
I got 2 wgs reaper 30 watt and 2 of their Retro 30's and i just can't bring myself to f with my tone anymore. Retros in the bottom since they're brighter and reapers in the top. Try it!
@@Rooster7six HEY Rooster! How's it going? Did you have time to compare K100 to Redbacks? So my straight can is V30/Redback and for my Bogner angled baffle straight can I want either V30 and K100s, CL80s or DV77s. Side note, in my 212 I tried Redbacks, RB/H75, RB/V30 and RB/K-100. The one that jumped out was V30/Redback.
@@Bognerman14 I don’t have Redbacks now. I will have time this weekend to do some recording though. I’ll do a few. Creamback h75. K100. V30. DV77 for sure. Maybe more.
How are so many over the moon for the Reaper? I thought it was the worst of the four. It has nearly everything I don't like in a speaker of this category. Boxy sounding, scooped mids, fizzy highs, annoying nasal upper-mid spike. Yeah, it sounds super metal, in that br00tal teenage kind of way, but if you decide that you need a bit of midrange body in order to not drown in your mix, you're shit out of luck, because it's not there. You're gonna find more flexibility when EQ'ing the others. To me the DV-77 wins for clarity, balance and punch, while the Hesu comes in a close second place for having that much meat in the mids. I could definitely see combining the two in a 2x12 or 4x12.
An Iconoclast Lmao wow, you really find that speaker offensive do you? I think I’m gonna take out two of my four v30’s and put two of these bastards in. How’s your butt doing?
Best are DV77 AND V30 just need a low cut on the v30 and turn presence down. V30 had more weight behind it, mids more forward. More open larger sounding. There's a reason they're industry standard. It ain't broke
I know this is old. But I just got the evh 5150 iconic combo just for recording and home use. I got the KMA Pylon for a noise gate because it's pretty noisy. But it also needs another speaker. With these upgrades this thing is going to be awesome, I could get a used cab and 6505+ for this price after everything lol. Anyways, have you tried the the Celestion 90watt Alnico Cream for metal? I'll play a lot of Meshuggah, Norma Jean, Dillinger and O'brother type stuff which none of those are similar lol. But I'm trying to find the best speaker for my needs I guess. The dv-77 and reaper sound the best to me from this video out of these choices. Good job duder!
The Reaper had a nice, jangly clean tone that made me think it would be great for some country/western type stuff, but electric bluegrass… I’m not sure what that would even require tonally. I’d imagine a lot of the highs would be covered from the banjo and/or fiddle, and lows by upright bass. It’s a great space for an acoustic guitar in that mid to low-mid band as a rhythm instrument.
Dv77 was the most versatile in the examples.. I have one paired with a creamback 65 in my 212 currently.. not the best combo.. I will be going back to the dv77 , v30 combo next time I do a speaker swap
As almost all of us use V30s, wich one you think combine better with a V30?, if we decide to combine different speakers in a cabinet for example. Thanks for the awesome content.
Yes sir speakers are a huge part of your tone . Id say more than just about anything. You can have a killer head but if the cab and speakers are shitty you wont get a great tone vs having a shitty head with a badass cab with good speakers .

I hope these Warehouse speakers come to Europe soon, so i can give them a try. keep on rockin'.
my favorites are the V30 and the DV77
that reaper sounds really great!
If I ain't wrong the Reaper is like a high powered and warmer sounding G12H30. I'm genuinely surprised by the results because I didn't expect a G12H30 based speaker to sound better than the Vintage 30 for metal.
i like the G12H30 better for metal than the V30
@@zAvAvAz The V30 is probably a good example of when it becomes a success because it went so far it's a bit too much. Its sound is so V shaped I always prefer more old school speakers like greenbacks for metal, nice mids. Check Kohle video on this vintage speaker (I think a speaker like Tommy Iommi used or something like that), it slays the V30's bee sound.
@@dirtyandnasty9011 right on
the Celestion V30 is a great speaker. I prefer the Warehouse Reaper higher wattage speaker for the power handling capability and fuller sound. I prefer a more full ranger sound . The rest cam be adjusted through the controls in the amp.combining I would put 2 celestions and 2 reapers as a combo in a 4X12 cab for all out monster tone!
really considering tossing a DV77 into my Orange PPC212 to pair with its v30
For me Eminence, Hesu, Celestion, and then the Warehouse.
I was thinking of getting a Hesu cab with Demon speakers, but this changed my mind. I liked the V30s more because they don't have the scoop that I don't like.
Demons are cool, but aren't my thing either
1. Reaper
2. DV77
3. Vintage 30
4. Demon (not even close to the others)
I'm pretty sure a Rectifier 212 with a Reaper and a DV77 in it would sound incredible.
A 2x12 cab with the DV-77 & the Reaper, would probably sound the best. (Imo)
please try the eminence cv75. the reaper hp is great i had in a 2x12 cab the had this celestion g12h 30 watt vibe but sound more modern
The cab def has it's own sound signature adding to the speakers. I'm not sure I really like the mesa cab either. Sounds muddy on the lows.
Oh my Satan that DV-77 sounds A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
I miss my Satan. Really wish I still had that amp.
I think I'm gonna have to try a Reaper HP and K100 combo...
Did you replace the speaker after each take to have them in the same slot in the cab?
Any chance you have the date code from the V30 used? That DV77 is killer
Not on hand unfortunately
How’s the low end in the 77? So far in my speaker test nothing beats a v30 on low end for metal. I like Creamback H75s but they had no low end. They cut though.
For easier AB comparison between the dv77 and reaper, or hesu demon and v30:
Riff 1,
dv77: @1:20
demon: @1:33
reaper: @1:46
V30: 1:59
Riff 2
Dv77: @2:13
Demon @2:24
Reaper @2:35
V30 @2:48
The V30 at 4:30 sounds so thick and crushing. Blend with a DV77 is killer.
Great video. Really nice, efficient demo. Will be subscribing to your channel. Great job Any idea when the DV77 will be available?
Fucking hell. The reaper sounds gnarly as fuck.
Need to shootout some Weber Tone Cvlt speakers!
DV77 Its what a Celestion SHOULD be
My vote for hesu
Excellent video man. What ohms are these?
All of those are 8ohms
@@MetalHeadProductions Hell yeah, exactly what I need. DV-77 it is
Great comparison!
All sound good in their own way but the Warehouse seems to stand out a little more.
Man the sear/attack on that reaper is nuts vs the others. Might get a little overwhelming depending on your boost options...sound great here tho
I’d mix the Reaper with the Dv77. I like aspects of both but wonder if the Reaper is slightly more efficient...?
killer riff at 4:17
Awesome video! You should totally try the celestion redback!
I liked the dv77 the most. But they are very expensive...
Killer guitar. I just played a Keith Merrow a few days ago.
That guitar is really special and has been my #1 for years now.
Gran feina, moltes gràcies!!
Try it!
I liked all of them except for the hesu
Any chance you have done a comparison to the K100s or Redbacks or CL80s/90s?
I need to sit in a room with all these. :)
I dig that 77
Someone needs to do a DV77 vs k100 test!
Agreed bro. Also like to hear DV77 vs K100 vs MC90 vs older T75.
@@Bognerman14 I have 77’s now. And kt100’s. I’ll try to record this week. I’m going out of town though those weekend so may be the following week!
@@Rooster7six Thank brother!!
An Iconoclast
Lmao wow, you really find that speaker offensive do you? I think I’m gonna take out two of my four v30’s and put two of these bastards in. How’s your butt doing?
@@Astaroth_Belial
Hardly offensive, just annoying. Like you.
Good luck with you shitty mix, kid lol.
Best are DV77 AND V30 just need a low cut on the v30 and turn presence down. V30 had more weight behind it, mids more forward. More open larger sounding. There's a reason they're industry standard. It ain't broke
The DV-77 seems to very hype ATM but in your demos the Hesu fit better in the mix
I really like the DV-77 and the Reaper
The Reaper sounded great in the mix..... my fav in this clip....
Dv77 was the most versatile in the examples.. I have one paired with a creamback 65 in my 212 currently.. not the best combo.. I will be going back to the dv77 , v30 combo next time I do a speaker swap
Personally I love the dv77 and vm1265 paired together
As almost all of us use V30s, wich one you think combine better with a V30?, if we decide to combine different speakers in a cabinet for example. Thanks for the awesome content.
I've got a Mesa 2X12 with vibtage V30 uk. It would be interesting to see if it can pair with another speaker
Probably the dv-77. It has this wideness where the v30 is a bit more focused. I suspect they'd blend together pretty well and balance out.
Maybe you have done this and I just haven't found it, but could you do another video of blends?
The Hesu Demon and DV-77 are both kicking ass here. I have to wonder how they would sound blended, with each other, and with the v30
I might do that in future.
@@MetalHeadProductions that would be sick
I would pack a cab with DV-77 and Reaper, that could sound cool
Yes sir speakers are a huge part of your tone . Id say more than just about anything. You can have a killer head but if the cab and speakers are shitty you wont get a great tone vs having a shitty head with a badass cab with good speakers .
