  • Scratch built KICK PANELS.... Yes you can make these for any classic car!
Every classic car should have a nice audio system in it! Don't agree? consider this: every car show you go to you need to drive there so why not have some tunes that sound amazing to listen to on the way? When you are sitting down behind your car at the show why not have some nice tunes you can listen to?
The dilemna: Speakers go in the doors right? I sure don't want to cut holes in my pristine vintage set of door panels just to fit up speakers. Why not put those speakers in the kick panels? You can buy a set of kick panels for your classic car to house those new speakers from a place like Retro Manufacturing.
Sometimes you can't get kick panels for your classic car. Follow along and I will show you how easy it is to build a set of kick panels from scratch for under $100!

I have watched so many videos where the speakers are facing straight into the feet or straight up the dash the end you get it loud sound inside and kind of loudish outside but you sir is the only one that has the angle right facing the correct way to get the perfect and the most out of your speakers 👏

Getting the angle right was a tough challenge in that space especially with the minimal foot room. The sound imaging is almost perfect! I also noticed having them in the kick panel vs the doors has reduced the rattles a lot of door mounted speakers always seem to have. Thanks for checking out the video!

Awesome idea bro! Someone already cut speaker holes in the sides of my centre console area (ta23, so a little different in shape) but I’m totally gonna steal this method in order to build hole-less replacements! Thanks, and keep up the great work!!

That should work nicely. So you are building a console from scratch?

@@dadstoygarage1878 nah, i have the old "holey" one, but need to either fibreglass over the holes somehow, or put in low-profile speakers. Either way, i think how you did it with the cloth to get the shape is genius!

@@GreavesEc thank you. Just keep in mind the fibreglass does not stick to plastic long term. Potentially you could mount a metal plate to the back of the hole fibreglass filler fill the. Sand it smooth. Then wrap with thin foam and wrap the foam how I wrapped these panels.

The resin won't permanently adhere to the steel rings.
The fiberglass matting is 1.5oz chop strand mat.
