Each band member is unique. Ox is a "Lead Bass Player". If you just listened to the song, you heard what I mean. Keith is my Idol, the way rock and roll by-God drums should be played, and Pete writes it that way. And there's nothing about Roger's voice I would change. I thought I wanted him to rival the great Robert Plant, but I don't. Not everyone can be the King, you know? But even as an old man, he can still get it done. Impressive. And Pete Townshend's career has been the soundtrack of my adult life. I am the seeker, as described by the artist. This was not the case when the song was released. It took a lifetime ...
I love the look of reckless abandonment mixed with enthusiastic bewilderment and a bit of fear that John gives to Pete at the 3:06 mark on the counter. They are obviously trying to appear as if it was live and they do a good job. But for the band to enter the crowd for a sing along would be a nightmare and dam near impossible to pull off. The 'kid in a candy shop" look is priceless.. The WHO are the definition of rock-n-roll at it primal best. Longliverock
Roger with the memorable words and vocals, Pete with the bad ass riffs and solos, John with his ridiculous licks and bored face, Keith with the energy and great drumming. Thats the formula to The Who!
When I was a little kid in the 70s, this was my favorite song by them, for some reason. Maybe because it reminded me a bit of Three Dog Night and bullfrogs named Jeremiah. (Give me a break, I was 4 in 1972)
What an uplifting masterpiece. Roger and Pete are the essence of early 70s cool rock perfection in this one. Plus my absolute favorite guitar licks from Pete, full of fire and fury, and superb musicianship. Roger at the pinnacle of his vocal talent. 10+++++. Clearly one of the top 2 or 3 Who songs. When I saw them on the 79 tour in Philly, I sang this so loud I lost my vocal chords for 3 days (and my hearing as well- 30 feet from Pete's amp!).
Pete cut his hand just before this video was shot, nipped to the local casualty, had it stitched then hopped back to the studio. That's why he's got that huge bandage on his hand. Bloody star.
So glad I was able to see them a few times with their original members. Took my honey to see them in April, 2015. Pete and Roger still rocking the place.
hate to burst your bubble, but pete townshend is anything but pure, if you know what i mean, haha... only playing, he's actually my favorite guitarist of all time.
First time I heard The Who's song was when I was learning English in Oxford and I was 16. It was an awakening to what music really was. It chznged my perception of music. In à positive way.
I hope true rock and roll makes a come back from the depths of crap that exists today. The 70's was the decade where music truly exploded. The 60's gave us the start, but the 70's truly was the best music ever produced.
While he may not have been Hendrix, Clapton or Page, Pete was sure good and an amazing song writer. Glad I saw them a few times. The original farewell tour in 1983 was unreal! Long live and Godspeed my friends.

This song on the radio back in '72 got me into The Who, still love it.
never forget when this song came out epic!
Saw these guys in 1971 in Miami. Still the greatest concert I've ever seen.
Just imagine, actually some don't need to imagine,we actually had this and a lot more back in the day, now imagine the people from this generation in 30/40 years time and there be saying,,,,back in the day we had f/all if only we had been part of the earlier generations, God you've missed out on so much, you have everthing but really you have nothing 😒 but hey at least we're sharing our memories at least whilst we still have them 😃😃😃
I am 67 , The Who is still the bomb in my book . I miss the music and times when long hair was in and everyone was so 😎 cool . I love this song it means a lot to me every time I listen to Join Together it takes me back to the good times . Reminds me of the awesome Hippie days .
I'm 68 and my hair is down to my ass. Whether it's in or not I feel the same I did in 60's fuck em if they don't like it :-)
The last century has produced such madly good musicians that I can not even imagine that there will be such a thing again?
Sigh
Another sigh . . .
Never
Townsend's songwriting maximized the talents of all four members of this incredible band.
He brought the best out of everyone.
just bought the 60 th edition royal mail who stamps be lucky greatest group of all time ❤
I frickin LOVE "The WHO!!!" Their music is timeless!!! Thanks for the many fine memories!!!! ☺☺☺
Bought the 7" in 1972, at the age of 11. Timeless and still amazing !
What a great and happy song by the Who!
When I listen to the Who, so do my neighbors. :)
Daniel Ives. heh heh. Good one
The best. :)
Daniel Ives Right on.
That's how I feel about ac/dc
How original a comment is that!
The Who is the most underrated band in the world!! This is so great!! Even by today standards this is so good!!!
why i don't know maybe because Pete didn't give a rats ass about having hit singles but there songs were all a masterpiece!
I am 57 years old and what is impressive to me is watching Pete Townsend kicking his leg up while holding his guitar and not falling over.🙃🙃
When I was a little kid in the 70s, this was my favorite song by them, for some reason. Maybe because it reminded me a bit of Three Dog Night and bullfrogs named Jeremiah. (Give me a break, I was 4 in 1972)
I was born in 68 also. Incredible time to be a kid..
@@Biden_Cult_Morons Born in 1957 here. The mid-1960s to 1979 was the best time for Rock music hands down!
Me in '54, Yes the WHO & TDN were Powerfull bands. Yep That Jeremiah He was a friend of Mine . too. Any One elses?
And Don't Forget JIMI, & the Guess Who..........
@@Nomadcreations Jeremiah was my friend too.
0:00 - 0:34 the craziest intro to any song, awesomely epic!
Ladies and Gentlemen, The Who..🤘🎶🎶🖤🖤Just a brilliant band👏👏👏Still as awesome as it was 50 yrs ago, true legends
Could not agree any more!!!!!!!! This band and this song are just outstanding... completely and utterly brilliant!!!!
I can crank up this song anytime
Virtually every song The Who ever did is a masterpiece?!
@@simonpearn479 back in 1971 would lay in bed with my girlfriend and listen to "Who Next" great memories!
A musical masterpiece! Can't get enough of the Who!!
Those were the days my friends, I thought they'd never end.
This band is a zeitgeist that can't be duplicated
This song used to get a lot of radio play . Back in the day when people were real and genuine.
You mean when music was music?
Parole vere sincere
That sounds like a you problem.
@@jstohler yep.
We're still here.
So glad I was able to see them a few times with their original members. Took my honey to see them in April, 2015. Pete and Roger still rocking the place.
Pete was born to play guitar. He just looks pure and natural.
I'd say more like "Pure and Easy!"
Gary Goetz Sr Except in one note
Pete townshend is one the best
He is a single symphony of music, in my opinion!
hate to burst your bubble, but pete townshend is anything but pure, if you know what i mean, haha... only playing, he's actually my favorite guitarist of all time.
First time I heard The Who's song was when I was learning English in Oxford and I was 16. It was an awakening to what music really was. It chznged my perception of music. In à positive way.
Praise GOD for putting this song in my head as I woke up this morning.
Could there be a better way to wake up?
I can think of one way...
I hope true rock and roll makes a come back from the depths of crap that exists today. The 70's was the decade where music truly exploded. The 60's gave us the start, but the 70's truly was the best music ever produced.
Probably one of the best live f ing bands ever and grand funk
While he may not have been Hendrix, Clapton or Page, Pete was sure good and an amazing song writer. Glad I saw them a few times. The original farewell tour in 1983 was unreal! Long live and Godspeed my friends.
