  • Changing the fluid on any manual transmission will be similar to this, any front wheel drive manual will be very similar, and any 90's-00's Honda or Acura will be almost identical to this. This video will walk you through every step on a 1999 Acura Integra GSR transmission fluid change, plus some added tips and pictures of important information from the service manual through out the video.

    If you haven't tried Amsoil synthetic manual transmission oil in these, you may be surprised at how much nicer they shift. I just used it in my '05 CR-V with 271k on it, and a 3rd gear that would crunch no matter what, unless a lot of finesse and slow loading was used (I just purchased the car). It's made a noticeable difference in the overall shifting, and 3rd will now drop right in under "normal" around town type of driving. It still takes the finesse under loads, like getting on the freeway, which I'd expect and can live with. The rev-hang of these engines in order to control NOX is very hard on the syncros....magnified 10-fold if the driver is speed shifting like it's a race car.

      Ooooo interesting!!! My current Integra has a crunchy/ hard to engage third gear. It might be the perfect test subject for that fluid!! Thank you for the info!

      @@ImperiumRacing Let me know what you think. When I first did the oil change 2 weeks ago, there was an immediate overall "better feeling" in how it shifted, and that could even be felt in the gear shift lever. But there was "almost" was no improvement in 3rd gear. I took the car on a road trip, 3-1/2-4hrs each way, all in the same day, 2 days later. When I got back, there was absolutely an improvement in 3rd gear. It's definitely not fixed, but it is sooo much better.

    I see you out of the capacity of a civic and a Integra, I have a civic with a b16 and swapped GSR tran, would the capacity be the 2.2 or the 1.9 oil capacity for that, I would just fill it up until it starts pouring out but I’m just genuinely curious

    • @ImperiumRacing
      @ImperiumRacing  ปีที่แล้ว

      OH man! sorry for the late reply! I totally thought I replied to this comment before, sorry about that. If your swap has a GSR trans it should be the 2.2 spec. But if your car is at an angle or you let it drain all night like I did, anything like that could affect it by maybe 0.1 or 0.2 over or under. So it's definitely safer to just get 3 bottles before starting.

    I have problem while shifting at high rpm which is it cannot go through the selected gear and this happens on all gear starting from 2nd gear to 5th gear.I had to let rpm going down a little bit then I can change the gear but its a bit hard to and had to force to change it.Does my gear oil level is low or my syncros are problems?

    • @ImperiumRacing
      @ImperiumRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How high of an RPM are we talking? Syncros can cause a similar issue, buuut usually it won't be all gears. Syncros will usually fail on the gears that get smashed the most (like 3rd because everyone thinks they're a street racer and slams that son of gun after a 2nd gear pull haha). If it's all gears I would look into the clutch system OR trans fluid. For trans fluid verify you have the correct fluid type, correct fluid level and clean fluid in the trans. While fluid is possible your problem sounds more mechanical. For clutch, maybe it's worn/cheap/incorrect part and at high RPM it isn't doing it's job completely at a higher RPM. Another possibility is if you are at high RPM, are you doing a pull? Sometimes on an older car worn engine mounts or shifter bushings can cause misalignments or cause things to not engage as they should. Example would be if you sit at a stop in neutral and blip the throttle does your shifter or engine move a bunch? Also is your clutch full and bled correctly. Sorry my sleepy brain is rambling, In summary I would check in this order: 1) Clutch fluid level/leaks, 2) clutch engagement (theres a way to measure this if you're fancy), 3) engine mounts/shifter bushings, 4) trans fluid level/condition/type, 5) clutch mechanical parts.

    • @ImperiumRacing
      @ImperiumRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@08adrift damn sounds like that clutch is no good. Was that clutch specifically for your engine and trans? Is it rated to 8500 RPM? A lot of Honda stuff is interchangeable and a looooot of companies make cheap crappy parts for Hondas. It’s possible the clutch isn’t rated for that. You can check the clutch specs or even reach out to the company that makes it and ask them about the issue. Either way it sounds like you need a different clutch. I’ve seen people spend lots of money on clutches and have them suck or make the car impossible to drive. My advice is find as many reviews as you can before you buy a clutch. Even then everyone drives a little different so clutch is one of those things might be hard to find the right one. Honestly unless you have a tune and like 300+ HP… OEM or OEM style clutch might be the best option. I’ve done a decent amount of racing on some standard basic Integra clutches haha

    Hey I have a 2000 integra ls, I feel like my transmission is going out because when I’m in 5th or even 3rd it just shoots out of gear. Was wondering if you had any suggestions in mind?

    • @ImperiumRacing
      @ImperiumRacing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It only shoots out of those two gears? Is it all the time or only when you do something like accelerate hard? does it seem like it goes fully into gear when you put it in 5th or 3rd? 3rd is pretty common to have damage on these older Hondas because people shift soooo hard into 3rd trying to drive fast. But 5th is a little more odd. You could drain your trans fluid and see what it looks like, check for metal. You could also take a look at shift linkage and/or trans& engine mounts. Do you have any sort of gigantic shift knob or after market shifter?

    Please tell me can we use 10w 30 engine oil for gear box?

    • @ImperiumRacing
      @ImperiumRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply!! According to after market manuals YES! Honda MTF or SAE 10w-30 can be used in a 1994-2001 Acura Integra manual transmission. Either one is fine. I just like OEM things and the bottles weren't that expensive from the dealer and you only have to buy a couple anyways. Same specs go for a manual trans in a 96'-00' Civic or a 97'-01' manual trans CRV. There is usually a small difference in quality of oil brands though, so be aware of that. If you do decide to get 10w30 then just make sure you get a name brand.
