I met Alex at a show around the same time MVP was a current release. He was super tight the whole time, a fantastic performance. Also Alex was cool as fuck. He looked in amazing shape, was totally ripped, so I asked him if he was working out or whatever and he said no, that he only plays drums. An odd collection of weirdness in his style. Super awesome drummer and seemed to be a really nice person, especially to fellow drummers.

There is a really sick drum cam video they released of their song Involuntary Doppelganger a while back, and also a better quality one for Lucid Collective Somnambulation.
Please do also an analysis of Baard Kolstad. Before he became a part of Leprous he was a known street drummer in Norway. I think that influenced his technique by a great degree. I'm very interested what you would say about his play style. :)

Considering both Cryptopsy and Despised Icon are from Montreal I don’t find it hard to believe that Alex learned from or at least admired None So Vile era Cryptopsy. I think they were a huge influence on Despised.
