    It worked for me on a brand new device following a software update. Didn't expect to have to do this though.

Warum dauert das Update des Gerätes im Jahre 2023 noch STUNDEN? Was soll ich mit einem solchen Mist anfangen? Unglaublich, dass TomTom immer noch am Markt ist. Wo entsorge ich das Teil umweltfreundlich?

    Yes, I found the instructions on how to reset my 630. HOWEVER, it did not fix the issue. It appears the screen needs to be replaced, based on the number of how to videos I have found about replacing the failed touch screen of the 630. Very disappointed. Especially when I continue to receive marketing emails to subscribe for map updates while your support can't help get my 630 working.

    so when this useless info doesnt work, what then? my go710 doesnt do anything now. the charging light comes on but doesnt ever 'reset'

    my tomtom go 6100 that cost £219 in febuary 2016 has stopped working by 12feb2018 i am not happy, if after charging it for 2 hours and then doing this reset and it doesnt work i want a brand new replacement at the very least, failure to do that means ill stop using tomtom , ps your software mydrive connect is utter shite that needs fixing

    just reset mine i held the shutoff button like she said for maybe 30 seconds, heard the drums and when i started it again all was fine

    This shows how to start it not reset it. tomtom makes worst sync interface software. Why do I need tow programs to manage maps on one device, and I cant connect to device, despite several reinstalls.

    This is how you restart, not how you reset. Useless info and still no connection to the PC, although the TOM TOM claims to be connected, explorer shows no tomtom.

    Isn't just the same as a normal cold start. Why does it need to be charged for 2 hrs when the unit is ready to use straight away.

      Hi there,
      If you are experiencing issues which might necessitate a reset of this kind, it's important to charge the battery first so that this reset procedure can go through properly. It is different than just turning off and on the device again - when you keep the button pressed as described the navigation device performs several checks and extra steps before and during the boot-up process.

    I charged the device (Go 40) for 8 hours and then have rest this 14 times, holding the button down for 12-40 seconds each time until I heard the drum roll. NOTHING, it still just shows TOMTOM and the silly hands. How do I get this sorted? I looked at the card on my PC and there is nothing, I mean absolutely nothing on it. But worse I still don't even get a format choice or past the TOMTOM sign. PLEASE HELP, I fly to England Thursday!

    I can't see the difference between switching on the device and what you call "resetting" it.

      Hi +Millbrook1974 thanks for your feedback. The reset procedure varies depending on what navigation device you have. You can see if this procedure applies to your device here: uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6965. If your device does use this procedure then holding the power button until the drum roll is heard performs a reset. To turn the device on normally you don't have to hold the button until the drum roll sounds, but instead press for 2 - 3 seconds until the device turns on. A drum roll may then be heard at boot up. I hope this helps.

    I've got a tomtom xxl q routes device. Used it last week, but when I came to use it today it wont locate a satellite, all I get is 2 satellites showing on the gps screen ( greyed out). I've uploaded the last software but still no joy. Can you please help?

      Does your GO 51 behave in the same way (i.e. turn off after 20 seconds or so) even when plugged in to a power source?

    Do I will have to download map pack again after reset?? I'm currently aboard and have lost gps signal.

      The reset shown in this video will not impact any of the maps or places/routes you have saved on your device. There is also the factory reset as shown in a different video that is a bit more extensive, but that one removes customised content such as your settings and routes, but will not remove the maps you have installed on your device.

    This shows a non-working reboot, nothing to do with reset, factory reset or anything to do with the non-working tom tom's

      The steps in this video shows how to make a normal reset for the applicable devices (you can see the alternative ways depending on your device here: uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6965 ). If issues persist you might need to perform different steps such as performing a factory reset or recovering your device through a computer connection, but this depends on how it behaves / what error messages you are seeing?

    MyDrive Connect. does not work, navcore not avaliable, factory reset required as MyDrive Connect.just keeps bricking it till it does not work, then android reset, then MyDrive Connect. then bricked again, this for the past 3 years.
    Life time free maps? Yes but life is endless RTB till warranty runs out, then nothing.... get a map!

If you change country at the bottom of the page to where you purchased the device you should see the familiar names.     All this did was open what looks like a bios screen. Did not reset my XXL IQ. Does anyone have any more information on this?

      +Upwind48 Hi there. If you see this screen it's because you've kept the power button held down for too long. You need to release the button when you hear the drum sound. Hope that helps!

      Thank you for your response.
      Is the reset identified by a quick loading screen where it looks like a harddrive icon in the lower left corner and a yellow loading bar at the bottom of the screen.
      My end goal is get the tomtom updated. It seems that when i plug it into the usb, my computer says that it does not recognize the device. Is there any way I can manually install the drivers onto my computer. or completely do a complete reset of the device? (found the reset to factory defaults in the menu, but that did not fix my issue.)

      +Upwind48 Hi there, the reset of the device we're showing you in this video is the way the reset normally works - if you're seeing any other icons / loading bars on your screen it sounds like you may be keeping the power button held down too long.

    never worked on my tom tom classic ,never worked out of the box no main menu ,both tom tom and halfords have been useless with support ,may as of purchased it for use as a doorstop, total waste of money

      This video shows how to perform a so called soft reset of a navigation device that updates with MyDrive Connect or over Wi-Fi. It is different than just turning off and on the device again - when you keep the button pressed as described the navigation device performs several checks and extra steps before and during the boot-up process.
      Depending on the issues you're experiencing or the outcome you want from a reset, there are other types of resets or ways to recover your device as well, though.
      If you provide more information on your issue or objective here we can point you in the right direction.

    I updated mine and now its a paper weight. Piece of garbage. This doesnt work. Its stuck on Title screen. Ive tried restore and this wasted exercise countless times. Never wasting my money on Tom Tom again! ripoffs
