Just grabbed the single barrel toasted rye non-barrel proof. Freakin delicious. I’ve seen this vid a few times and would pay for the barrel proof no doubt. And Dan, your tasting technique is legit. Covers the full spectrum of flavors offered by the bourbon or the rye.
Down to 1/3 bottle but do have an unopened 2018 bottle bunkered. Really like it but can only have 1 pour as it is so rich and sweet. I don't think I will ever see another bottle either but did pick up a couple Barrel Strength Rye's at a decent price and they are close to this one for me. Cheers

Technical question: I know bourbon has to be put into virgin barrels. Can the finishing barrels like the toasted ones used here be reused like the “Solera” aging process? Your comment about these toasted Michter’s products being the most wasteful ever got me thinking.
Hey, I just opened a willett rye from this year and it smells just like a dill pickle. Am I crazy? Does my nose not work? Not sure I've ever smelled that before...

Palaver, clowning, fencing and a blizzard of distraction is why I keep coming back. Dry tasting notes with 0 personality is the doldrums of whiskey tube.
I love our bottle, that toasted finish on the palette and aroma is amaizing.

This whiskey is ridiculously good. Possibly tied with JD Heritage as my favourite American whiskies.

I'm not sure on the technicality of that one honestly. Finishing gets into some gray areas honestly.

In my opinion yes. Both are great. The toasted is just a superior product in almost every way to my palate at least
