Buyer beware, my 2023 was no where near what you are describing here. My bottle is hot caca in comparison to the top 5, A+ bottle you are apparently tasting.
@@DrumsAndDrams Would you still pay secondary $225 for a bottle knowing this? I can get one for this price right now, but I'm not sure I want to pull the trigger. Just subscribed!
What's your barrel number? I didn't like mine at first and left it on the shelf for a couple months. Same thing with the Shenk's. Came back and really enjoyed them both.
@@johng5710 I actually just filmed with the Bourbon Junkies the other day and we did a blind flight. I had no clue what was in the flight, but their barrel of the 2023 Michter’s Toasted Rye was in the flight and not good at all. So with that in mind, this is a risky buy IMO. Ugh!
I have 2 2023 G barrels and it's absolutely amazing!!! Thick rye spice with powdered sugar and caramel. The barrel char combines so well with the sweetness that this rye contains. Not sure why others are having issues with G barrels. But this is one of my favorite ryes and easily top 20 favorite whiskies of all time. Smore's and caramel sauce with toasted oak is just spot on!!!
Reluctantly bought this bottle in January in Houston on the day it was delivered to stores. I didn’t like previous releases so it wasn’t a must buy for me but wow did I love this pour when I got home. I immediately regretted not buying more when there multiple cases available at MSRP everywhere in the Houston area but it was all gone within a week. Wet, rich oak (with some funky glue), candied and heavily buttered French toast on nose; French toast with maple syrup on taste; sweet finish with some maple syrup and tannins. By far, the best toasted rye on the market. Much better than peerless. And a unique pour that I love. 💯 agree with your review!
Curious how this would compare to that “Double Barrel Toasted Tea” sample I sent you. That was the first toasted product that I actually got that marshmallow note and not some freshly sawn lumber. Great review, cheers 🥃

Pinned this for folks to hopefully see. I should’ve been even more emphatic about this being a single barrel and that there could be vast differences.

This is probably my favorite bottle I own. Its amazing.
In love with this bottle.
Possibly the best rye I have ever tasted. Bought 2 backups. Guys I drank with, all purchased bottles immediately as well (not at MSRP). Worth it
I haven’t tried it yet but definitely looking forward to hunting for it. Great review.
Tried this at Michters and was blown away. Now on the hunt
I paid 170 for it and have zero regrets. This thing is truly special. Cheers 🥃
😂 I did the same thing when I reviewed the 12 Bulleit rye. Put on a green shirt put a green plant in the background 😂.
Had a pour of this at a bar and it blew me away. Nothing like it.
My son has an older bottle that’s really nice! My 2023 is great IMO however I do prefer my 2024 barrel strength:)
I got liquid French Toast with syrup. I blew through my bottle.
Got a backup $150 ea

Crazy…..I found toasted rye and Shenks at Ralph’s sitting random on the shelf in 2023.
My 23G was terrible. Had 3 pours and traded it away. My happier with the Peerless DO.
What about it didn’t you like, out of curiosity?
I have a 23G too (23G2639). It got way better after some open time, but I wasn't a total fan when I first opened it.
Single barrels. I won’t find it, but still they can and will differ.
I'm going to have to quit listening, looks like I'm on the hunt....
I really enjoy mine. Very much what you are describing. 23G2464
