Impressive that the "semi-cheap" SBC Pi can run PS2. Many PS2 games are 60fps though. Makes you wonder how much more powerful a Pi 6 will be in 4-5 years from now.

You can get a x86 mini-PC at around 100-200 EUR, which is similar to the cost of a RPi 4 nowadays. RPi 5 at MSRP is gonna be cool though, if they can keep the cost down.
On the Raspberry Pi 4, I've found that with the latest version of AetherSX2 a combination of lower EE Cycle Rate AND EE Cycle Skipping makes a big difference. But only changing one of the two did nothing.
Unfortunately there's really only so much you can do at a certain point. With Aether SX2 for me the optimal defaults is usually as good as it gets, with rare exceptions, Which is pretty good in most cases

Well, we can't expect miracles out of an A76-based SoC. Then again, the Raspberry SBCs have the most dedicated and active community BY FAR. So I'd be willing to bet that once EmulationStation has an RPi5-exclusive release, results will be much better than currently. By the way, why are you not using NetherSX2? Maybe it was shown or mentioned and I just didn't notice, what was the clock speed while emulating? If this is base clock, it would be nice to see the overclocked performance, unless this is already at max clock speeds.
Hey ETA,just noticed under the neofetch prompt on cpu actually shows bcm2835(for raspberry pi1) instead of the bcm2712 Soc(for raspberry pi5) maybe due to the kernel loading the wrong driver module thus the low performance.
