I haven't driven a 579 yet. I eventually want to buy my own truck but I dont know if I should get a Peterbilt 579 or a Freightliner Cascadia. Im definitely getting a manual transmission as automatic is horrible.
Are you sure that transmission isn't an 18 speed auto shift transmission. Eaton numbers it's gears as LL (Low Low) L (Low) then 1-16 for eighteen speed transmissions and the same save for 1-11 for thirteen speed transmissions. I'm curious what is the best fuel economy you are getting with that drivetrain setup.
You'd be correct Hudson! The fuel mileage on this truck isn't a great example because it spends most of its time hauling 80,000lb loads, 120,000lbs gross in the hills of northern Ontario, However it's averaged a little over 6MPG doing this.
Bunk size is also a huge factor comparing the Kenworth to this unit. Much taller than this Peterbilt, but this unit is equipped with full lockers, a 15 L ISX Cummins and an 18 speed automatic, opposed to the Kenworth's 13 L Paccar engine and 12 speed automatic.
It all depends what concept of truck you get, Cascadias, Western Star 4700's, Kenworth T680, Mack Granite, International Prostar's all have much wider cabin's then this model.
Trucker_Trav6132 But no American truck has such a big cabin and are not as tall as European trucks I saw American trucks in Croatia are not that big trucks And are not strong as a European of 730 or 750 factory hp
Our trucks are 13 feet 6 inches tall, and the cabin is a couple inches of that height, however no american trucks come factory with a HP rating of 700, the biggest factory HP is 600 I believe.
my first truck with Werner I love the 579

wash, spin, dry, tumble. Sorry that was a scene from Airplane. :-)
No fridge?
Yes sir it does have a fridge, it is located on the lower passenger side of the bunk, I guess I forgot to include that!
what size flat screen TV could you put in there?
We have a driver that squeezed a 40" tv in it, it's snug but it fits, the mount is located in a different position then most trucks.
Steve steve. 18" will fit easily, a 24" is tight.
How do you turn on the outlets? My inverter is not popped?
saw ( 1:06 ) parameters 42 L/100 km ..not américain way mls/ Galon

American trucks have such a narrow cabin compared to European trucks

Trucker_Trav6132 European truck 15 to 16 feet 7 inches tall and the cabin is around 11, 12 feet
Bad Azz!!
This truck is wayyyy too tight inside. I can't stand half roof trucks while over the road. It's a pretty truck though. I'm just too tall for it.
My its 2017 peterbilt 579
Mpg
That says FORD all over it!😂😂😂
