    no clutch pedal on the rig. the speedometer is metric but the gauges are in Fahrenheit, pounds square inch, instead of Centigrade or bar or kilopascal. does it have a flash to pass?

    How do I keep the truck from the idle shut down in below +27C weather. During the summer I can’t get a good night sleep. I constantly have to tap the pedal to keep the truck cool enough to get some sleep. I am quitting my job because of this issue. If my new company shows me a Peterbilt 579 I’m telling them flat out I’m not interested in driving a truck with that feature during the summer.

    • @PeterbiltManitobaLtd
      @PeterbiltManitobaLtd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Assuming your truck is a 2013 model year or later, nothing is wrong with your truck,. This is a 5-minute idle timer shutdown, which is an EPA/ECCC requirement. From our Paccar documentation: "Emission Model Year 2013 - 2020 vehicles registered in the United States are regulated by the Environment Protection Agency’s (EPA) Greenhouse Gas Phase 1 requirements to cut carbon pollution and improve fuel efficiency. California Air Resource Board (CARB) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) adopted these requirements for vehicles registered in California and Canada. Emissions Model Year 2021 and later vehicles registered in the United States are regulated by the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Phase 2 requirements to cut carbon pollution and improve fuel efficiency. CARB adopted these requirements for vehicles registered in California and added additional standards and compliance requirements. ECCC Heavy-duty Vehicle and Engine GHG Emission Regulations require vehicles registered in Canada covered by an EPA certificate of conformity to also comply with EPA’s Phase 2 requirements." Peterbilt does offer SmartAir options, and this is a topic we suggest having a conversation about with your company, as all trucks that fall under EPA/ECCC regulations will act the same.

      The heating system isn't meant to function with auto start, it simply monitors state of charge of the truck. If you require auxiliary heat, you would need an auxiliary air heater installed (ex: Espar, Webasto, etc.)

    • @PeterbiltManitobaLtd
      @PeterbiltManitobaLtd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alexis, that light is not a warning light telling you something is wrong, that light only illuminates when the engine fan is actually on. Turning the fan off should then turn the light off. If the light is on but the engine fan is off, this is not normal operation and we'd suggest you take your truck in for service. Hope this helps!

    What is the purpose or when do use the Power Take Off (PTO)?????

    • @PeterbiltManitobaLtd
      @PeterbiltManitobaLtd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sami, a PTO is a device that transfers power from the engine to another piece of equipment / auxiliary component(for example: raising the bed of a dump truck, operating the winch on a tow truck, powering a garbage compactor, etc.) to avoid needing an additional dedicated motor for powering those devices.
      When engaging the PTO, power is diverted where required, and the truck's engine idle will increase.
      The PTO switch is optional and would only be needed if the truck needs to power another piece of equipment as mentioned above. Turning the switch on engages the PTO.
      For more information on switch operation, you can consult an Owners Manual (available on our website at www.peterbiltmanitoba.com/manuals/ )

      Peterbilit 567: Yes I'm talking about the surrounding sturdy black bracket/mirror frame attached to both doors, neither mirror bracket will budge, there must be a spring tension adjustment but I can't find it nor can any other driver I've asked.
      All I want to do is bring in the mirror frames so I can access narrow spaces but I can't because the brackets won't budge at all.
      I looked everywhere on the WWW with no luck, not a single mention per 2022 Peterbilt 567 mirror brackets anywhere!
      I know how the internal parts of mechanism works yet there's no information on how to set the tension.

      @@PeterbiltManitobaLtd
      YES - mirror arms/black mirror bracket connected to door, they stick out to far, can't access narrow places such as hot plants without scraping, it's like they're frozen in one position, no visual adjustment portals either. I know how the mechanism is supposed to work with tension spring and incremental slots , if I were to pull on the brackets any harder something would surely break or bend. The vehicle is a 2022 567 Peterbilt. Maybe spray on penetrating would loosen things up - what's your recommendation?

    • @PeterbiltManitobaLtd
      @PeterbiltManitobaLtd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@labrat748 We tested this on a 2021 567 in our shop today. The mirror bracket is indexed, but unfortunately there is only one locking position. To move the mirror in, you can pull/push the mirror towards the cab door while slightly lifting up at the same time. It is difficult to move, so may require two people, one to pull from the cab steps and one to push from the hood side, but the whole arm will rotate in towards the cab, even though it won't lock into place in any position other than fully extended. If you leave it out of the index position, the bracket may move while driving, so do so at your own risk!

    • @labrat748
      @labrat748 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeterbiltManitobaLtd
      I got the mirror bracket to move inward but it takes a lot of force to get it to move. It can't be done from inside the truck, I had to stand on the cab steps. Tomorrow I'll apply a dab or two of penetrating oil to see if that helps...whatever I do will only be done while the truck is parked/not moving.
      I really appreciate the advice and your professional attitude :D

    Anyone know how to override idle management on a 2019 579? Apparantely, Peterbilt thinks that 39° Freedomheit with a 24° "real feel" doesn't require constant climate control. Btw, do NOT get this rig if at all possible! My dash has numerous pieces of folded up paper to keep the sqeeks and rattling down ...which still doesn't work. Don't even think that you can get the sleeper remotely dark, due to piss poor curtains (both between the cab to berth and the vents at the top of the berth) and don't even get me started on these cup holders! I could go on about the discomfort of this interior, but it won't make it any better. It's so bad, it actually makes me miss my 2015 Freightliner! 😮
