Looks like Anthem room correction has improved a lot since I tried it about ten years ago. Back then it was a piece of crap but they did at least make some changes based on my complaints or at least I was told they did. I never tired it again to verify. I have an AVM60 for my new theater build but I've never even opened the box containing the ACR. Based on what I see in your video I might consider checking it out but more likely I'll stick to manual corrections with the miniDSP using ARTA and Earthworks microphones. Maybe once it's all dialed in manually I'll try running the ACR just to see what it does.
How would four Tekton Cinema subs square up against a pair of HT 1508, since that would cost the same (tax and shipping on the two REL)? I'm sure the HT 1508s would have an edge in start-stop capabilities but ow about SPL and LFE output in general? Size is no problem

Music is more important to me, mainly electronic or hip hop. Room shape is normal. Struggling between this HT 1205 and T9i... Thinking to buy 2 subs, but not at once, one which is better for music and one mainly for movies with lower bass. Opinion?:) btw I'm no expert at all, just trying my own logic
@@rayking507 I also asked REL: Both the T/9i and the HT/1205 can be ran at the same time in the same system. In such a setup the HT/1205 will be connected to the designated subwoofer output on your AV receiver, while the T/9i will be connected to the speaker output terminals on your amplifier using it's High Level input. This will result in the T/9i providing low-frequency extension for your front left and right channel speakers, while the HT/1205 delivers the LFE sub-bass effect channel found in home theater material. For more specific instructions on connecting these subwoofers in your system, please provide the specific model of AV receiver and/or amplifier which you are using.

Hi Dan! Yes I still have them and they are great! I just had a “remote calibration” done on my system snd they got these subs to hit 15 Hz and blend perfectly to my other speakers! I’m so excited now, I feel like I have to rewatch so many movies!!
@@TechnoDad the new Denon has the tunning calibration with the four sub outputs, the green zone that gives a good indication for the room with the mic. You used that also and leave it that way? Or do you still bump up the backpanel to a higher output or leave it in the green zone and bump it up in de denon? Comparing with other people is sometimes hard too find out when the hobby is not spread out the family or friends for a lot of folks.
I think the point is that REL make subs differently to everyone else! SVS no doubt make good subs, as do many companies, it's just that REL have a whole different bass ideology and I am very grateful for that, as I have one! The point being that, you have to use both the high level AND the .1 LFE connections to achieve the true sub-bass that they talk about, whereas AV companies will tell you "Oh no, you just need to use one or the other, otherwise you get too much bass." Pardon me?
I have a question on the oppo 203 audio and connectivity to the denon 4400, do I plug via hdmi to the DVD input or the blu ray input on the denon? I noticed if I plug it to the DVD input my front atmos I get sound and if I use the blu ray input i get no sound, pls any advice is greatly appreciated...great channel thanks
Each input has to be separately tweaked to get the desired sound, meaning when you change to blu-ray input you need to go to the sound settings and speaker settings of the receiver and see what needs changing, if you still getting nothing then your av receiver might be faulty.

@@pabsgabs I did receive the REL’s I never heard a better bass in my room but you have to be careful how you tune them they’re different than any subwoofer
The subs are not working out of phase. They're in phase, but they appear to be out of phase because your camera is positioned such that one woofer is slightly further away than the other, it is looking down slightly at the stack, so the frame rate on the camera freezes the motion out of phase. If you were to lower the camera and position it exactly equi-distant from the center of both woofers, you will see they are working in perfect unison. Or you can shoot the video at a high enough frame, rate and you will see they are in phase.

Hi, how does the 1508’s compare to all the other subwoofers you heard in terms of detail and refinement. Thank you 🙏
This REL and Rythmixc fv15 are fantastic. I use the Anthem as well. Bass is next to air pressure and vibration. If detail is needed to RELs is best, maybe even 2 12"
Hi. Would the Rel’s compare to the Jl audio e112 for home theatre.
Have u tried the arendal sound 1723 subwoofer 2s and 2v then?. Very good reviews of them.
What if you just get 4-6 of these? would it balance out the lows and give more of a full range? You can almost buy 4 of these for the same price of 2 svs ultra ported. Idk honestly ill be using these more for music so i feel the rel will do just fine. If i ever want to own the svs or another sub ill change in the future..
Im going to get 7-8in martin logan in ceiling speakers probably 2-4 rel 1508 subs and 2 tower adrenal and a center chanel. I think this will fill my basement which is about 36x24 just fine.. not sure what recievers and amps ill need to power all of this yet lol..
Hi Tecno Dad ! Ijust got 2 Rel 1508 subwoofer and I'm planning to put the setting you using from your Rel 1508 which is 10:30. I'm not stacking my sub though. Do you think that setting will be good on a 15x20 with a 9ft ceiling. Please help. Thank you in advance!
Good bass for music and home theatre - thx TD
hey technodad i have a 1400 cubic feet room. would you recommend dual rel ht/1205s would be enough to pressurise the room? i was also looking at an svs option like dual pb2000 pro's. what would you recommend? have been watching your videos over and over again as i love your content.
What did you get?
@@juandoe7802 ended up getting a second hand svs pb13 ultra and it rocks
I think all subwoofers make that noise at that level because it is a physical movement. At that speed it is bound to make some noise. Maybe in the future subwoofer companies will sort this out.
@3:15 yeah no I don’t want to break my house. Thank you. This is what I am going for.
Would you buy a pair of Rel 1508s or a pair of Monolith 15s for a dedicated Theater Room? Suggestions? Price is similar because of the sales going on right now so if you can please send some suggestions soon? Thanks in advance...
Hi! I would go with the Monolith as they would be ported and better suited in a dedicated home theater.
@@TechnoDad Thank you for your reply.. I assuming because the Monolith can dip lower and maybe can put out a bit more output? I was thinking Rel only because I keep hearing how tight and clean the bass is..
Yes, you are correct on both fronts. Honestly, the REL 1508s are pretty amazing. They move so much air it’s ridiculous. To be fair, unless you’re measuring the subs you probably won’t notice the difference in low end extension.
Hi! Which one do you think is better subwoofer for hometheater use between the Rel 1508 and SVS SB 3000?
If you want that low extension, go with the SB3000 - amzn.to/3r6EtY3
@@TechnoDad Thank you !
How does the REL HT 1508 compare to the SVS PB-3000 for $400 less?
imo the SVS digs deeper with more authority while the REL will be quicker and more tactile. Either of those will be no slouch.
I couldn't have said it better myself RJ!
@@TechnoDad hahah ty ty I actually listened to them both before buying my SVS pb 2000 pro. The REL subs defo better for music but since I was mainly using them for HT I went with SVS. And I also gotta say I love the HIFI podcast man ur funny as hell lmaoo.
@@RJ-xj3ct Thanks. When you say tactile, do you mean the REL has more mid bass? I'm really looking for something more concussive and in your face for movies, but I don't necessarily care about going as deep as possible.
@@Smellslikegelfling Also the SVS app capabilities and 1 year trade-up program would make me go the SVS route.
How did you get them to push and pull like M&K x12 subs?
Looks like Anthem room correction has improved a lot since I tried it about ten years ago. Back then it was a piece of crap but they did at least make some changes based on my complaints or at least I was told they did. I never tired it again to verify.
I have an AVM60 for my new theater build but I've never even opened the box containing the ACR. Based on what I see in your video I might consider checking it out but more likely I'll stick to manual corrections with the miniDSP using ARTA and Earthworks microphones. Maybe once it's all dialed in manually I'll try running the ACR just to see what it does.
It’s definitely better than what they had two years ago, so I would imagine it’s leaps and bounds better than 10 years ago!
How would four Tekton Cinema subs square up against a pair of HT 1508, since that would cost the same (tax and shipping on the two REL)? I'm sure the HT 1508s would have an edge in start-stop capabilities but ow about SPL and LFE output in general? Size is no problem
Interesting you chose to stack them, wouldn’t opposite corners be better?
Yea, but I don’t have the space for that in my living room so stacking was the way to go.
Question sir.I’m thinking of double stacking two SVS pb3000 cause I don’t have room like you,but before I buy a second pb3000,what do you think ?by the way you have a great video on double stacking subs ,thanks Paul
I've only heard the SB3000 and it was a beast. Just make sure they are not going to move around. These RELs are bolted together.
@@TechnoDad I’m debating between 1 Rel 1508 or 2 SVS SB-3000s. What would be your recommendation between the 2. I’m trying to put out enough sound to fill my open living room space. It’s about 18’ x 24”. I’ll be using it/them for HT and music. Thanks for your feedback!
What Anthem AVr or processor did you get your hands on? Where is the review
I have the older MRX 720 - th-cam.com/video/wjcpIrtwk_k/w-d-xo.html
Techno Dad, I need some help. My bookshelf’s are elac b6.2 which are 6 ohm. I’m powering them with an external amp in my 5.1.2 setup with my Yamaha rx-a780 and integra Adm 2.1 amp. My question is, before my amp I lowered my impedance to 6 ohm min on my receiver. Now that my amp is powering them should I change that back to 8 ohm? Bc all my other speakers are 8 ohm. And can you tell me the benefits of doing this? Thank you for the help!!
Hi! Yes, change it back to 8 ohm.
Have u reviewed the 1205 yet?
Wonder how they’d compare w the svs sb3000
Or how the 10” rel compare w the newer svs sb 2000pro (for folks who are 7O%! HT and 30% music)
Have you compared them already with the arendal 1723 s2? Closed dual driver subwoofer? Really wondering...
No, I have not tried any Arendal subs
I want a sub which is both good for music and movies. Room is 2900 cubic feet. Plan to do 5.1 with 4 Oberon 3's, and maybe 5.2 in the future. Music is more important to me, mainly electronic or hip hop. Room shape is normal. Struggling between this HT 1205 and T9i... Thinking to buy 2 subs, but not at once, one which is better for music and one mainly for movies with lower bass. Opinion?:)
btw I'm no expert at all, just trying my own logic
I spoke to Rel last week and the person I spoke to said that 1 S812 easyly out proforms 2T9i’s
@@rayking507 I also asked REL:
Both the T/9i and the HT/1205 can be ran at the same time in the same system.
12:07 is that rattling coming from the subwoofer or the bass is rattling some stuff rattling inside the house?
That’s the sub shaking stuff in the house.
Do you have someone you can recommend for remote tuning?

@@TechnoDad awesome, thanks!
How much dB do you add to the subwoofer after REW calibration?
Hi! I don't know about db, but I had both of the level knobs at 9 o'clock and bumped them up to 12 o'clock.
At 15hz, what is the clicking? Is it your house or coming from the rel?
Ive got the 212sx, and get a similar noise but it comes from the sua somewhere.
Annoying.
Hi! Yes, that’s a window or the wood stove next to the subs.
Feel free to write into contactus@rel.net and we'll be happy to help you try and fix this issue.
Do you still have the 1508 Subwoofers?
If so, how's the Low Bass? How's the mid-bass?
Hi Dan! Yes I still have them and they are great! I just had a “remote calibration” done on my system snd they got these subs to hit 15 Hz and blend perfectly to my other speakers! I’m so excited now, I feel like I have to rewatch so many movies!!
@@TechnoDad
Awesome....I'm thinking about getting a pair😁
@@TechnoDad Hi, so could you tell is what sort of calibration do you mean by remote.
I want to do achieve something similar with my
Rel ht1205.
REL and SVS make excellent subs.
Yes they do!
REL makes excellent subs. SVS does not. SVS is not on the same level as REL
Great video brother, those are some sick little subs. I like the woven fiber driver look for sure!
Thank you! I am floored by their performance.
@@TechnoDad Maybe it's time that Channa goes big bass 😜, treat yo self!
Those hdmi inputs at the back of av receivers are all the same. The names are given so you know what to diconnect later on if you wish to.
Each input has to be separately tweaked to get the desired sound, meaning when you change to blu-ray input you need to go to the sound settings and speaker settings of the receiver and see what needs changing, if you still getting nothing then your av receiver might be faulty.
Advice please! REL HT/1508 or SVS SB-4000?

@@samidebs3559 how so? What’s different? Did you two? May I ask how you connected them and where did you place them? Thank you!!!
Where is the ARC Genesis video
The subs are not working out of phase. They're in phase, but they appear to be out of phase because your camera is positioned such that one woofer is slightly further away than the other, it is looking down slightly at the stack, so the frame rate on the camera freezes the motion out of phase. If you were to lower the camera and position it exactly equi-distant from the center of both woofers, you will see they are working in perfect unison. Or you can shoot the video at a high enough frame, rate and you will see they are in phase.
Are those your windows rattling at 18hz?!
Yes!
