I will answer the question you two asked. First, I am 56 years old and due to my career in the United States Marine Corp I have things like a intramedullary nail and pins and screws that hold me together. Pain has been a fact of life since my discharge. The prescriptions I was given left me with little desire to do anything other than sleep and slobber on myself. I will tell you that CBD is NOT a pain killer unlike prescription meds. CBD is a pain Manager, I still hurt with the use of CBD. I can still function and do things like drive and be active. I know long term use of pain killers destroy you liver and you build up immunity. Not to mention what they do to my digestive system. Speaking for myself CBD Oil takes the edge off the pain and that is what I need to be active and sleep well.

You could try to take CBG oil before you take your pain medication but take less than you usually do because CBG slows down the liver and your pain medication stays in your system longer and usually you won't need as much.

I'm a former RN (in the U.S.), and was put on permanent disability due to Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue/Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was very leery about adding CBD to my medication regime, so approached my doctor about it. I decided to give it a try, but felt I needed to be sure to get it from a place that provides third party lab testing. I use the tincture under the tongue vs capsules, topicals or gummies... supposedly under the tongue is more effective. When I saw your video on difficulty sleeping after knee replacements - I immediately thought CBD might be worth asking one's doctor about (depending on other medications/supplements being taken). I say this because I had tremendous positive results with my own sleep. I went from getting a broken up 2-3hrs sleep per night for maybe 4 days in a row, to sleeping 6+ hours per night almost every night. It also does not make me feel 'snowed' or like I've been hit by a truck when I wake up. It's been a blessing for me. If I get any relief of my pain, it is only slight. Everyone is different though! I thank you for mentioning this, but since CBD is not regulated (at least in the U.S.), I definitely suggest buying from a reputable place that again....provides third part lab testing. Thanks for all of your videos!! It's appreciated!! 👍 🤗

For the most part, though, US doctors won't talk about CBD with you. Forget about having a doctor ok THC, even where it's legal for recreation. They're all too quick to write scrips for Valium, Wellbutrin, Elavil...all sorts of goodies that really aren't meant to be sleeping pills. So they feed into the industry owned by insurance companies and they don't have to feel guilty about pushing addictive drugs. And if there are contraindications or conflicts with other meds or medical conditions, the doctors pass the responsibility for knowing those potential problems on to the pharmacists. Ain't it great!

    • @kimbo500
      @kimbo500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@MyCleverHandle I will count my blessings then! 🤗 I had a medical team in AZ and they were very good with me re: my taking CBD. My primary doc in AZ and now in FL both do not like to load patients up with the 'hard hitter' Rx's if there is an alternative with positive results. I guess I was lucky! There is a doctor from the NW who actually is a patient herself, and she has video's online that help provide some additional education to the public when other docs may not want to give such information.

Loving all the info about plant based diet, which I know first hand lowers BP, and cholesterol.

It is the reason I started taking the oil recently, first capsules, now drops, and have noticed a significant improvement for relieving joint pain.

I was looking for info on CBD oil and found your video. Good to see doctors who can still have fun at their job!
I want to point out what I perceive to be an incorrect statement but that’s just my opinion. At 6:10 you mention people come see you mentioning high pain tolerance and then say they wouldn’t be there if they did. That may or may not be entirely correct as there are different meanings behind a high level of pain tolerance.
Pain tolerance varies by individual and their perception of the levels of pain meaning a three for one could be a six for another. Saying you have a high pain tolerance may not necessarily refer to the pain scale of 1-10 but a tolerance to live with pain year after year. For example someone who has joint pain on a scale of 2-5 (some days better, some worse) that persists every single day of their life from after-effects of anthrax. Or damaged rotator cuffs and ligaments.
In the military you learn to live with pain because that’s what they train you to do but after decades and as you get older there’s a point where you're just worn down and sick of pain every single day. If you’ve lived with that for 20+ years I’d say that’s a high tolerance for pain and perhaps that’s when some go to see you. After twenty years of that I’d say it would be fair to call that a high pain tolerance.
Keep up the great work on the videos!

After watching videos about using topicals for arthritis pain, I contacted my local pharmacy and they carry a product that contains CBD. I got the highest strength - 1500 - and while skeptical I tried it. Amazing, my chronic pain stopped within a few minutes of application. I have been using it - about 3 times a day for the last few days - and stopped taking everything else - which wasn't helping anyway. My sleep improved dramatically from 2 hours a night to 4 hours. I have surgery in a week - and am so happy to have found this. My question is is I can take it for post surgical pain.I'm going to ask the orthopedist.

@@TalkingWithDocs I have exhausted all tests and possibilities. As best as we can figure it was likely the mercury shots administered to me in spring 1963, as a diuretic, to counter the extreme toxicity after a long regimen of ridiculously high doses of prednisone, as a result of having an acute case of rheumatic fever. I was 13 at the time. I have lived much longer than anyone thought I would.
Fluid was pumped out of my lungs twice, heart stopped twice, and the immediate diagnosis was: permanent invalid, no children, no nothing.
Within months I was out of bed and a few years later I had two children, in spite of all medical professionals insisting I have an abortion, which I refused to do.
The practice of administrating mercury as a diuretic was halted in spring 1963.

My daughter has Anxiety with peer interactions during high school. She was diagnosed with Broad Spectrum Autism, high functioning. I do not have a history of anxiety. Both of us took it. At first, it seems to help with sleep. But, then honestly in my experience, I cannot seem to tell the difference. But, the cost is too expensive to sustain for a long term. So, we both stop using. We both use melatonin for sleep still in the last few years. For anxiety, psychotherapy helps her a lot. Thank goodness for health insurance. Currently, my girl is Sophomore in college, double major in Accounting and Finance. She is on the President’s list. For her, psychotherapy has been very helpful, because she knows that she is taking to an expert, but also is in neutral setting. Her Pediatric therapist is so patient and kind, and she gets to ventilate and etc…But, the positive support is first from us, her parents and the community (therapist, school/university). Her therapist even said that she will keep her on as a patient beyond 18. Also, she utilizes the University’s counseling support when her something is bothering her and she cannot get an appointment. Schools from elementary-college have been helpful in providing support. But, effective support comes first in the home, and then in the community. People measure success as accomplishments/achievements. Ultimately, success really is from a healthy mind and body?.

I’ve used CBD gummies as well as CBG gummies for joint pain, and I think it works well for the early part of treatment, but once your knee joints are bone on bone you’ll need surgery (IMHO). While CBD might ease some of your pain, I got the best relief from surgery… barring that, anti-inflammatory such as Advil or Diclofenac Sodium helps between scheduling that surgical option (but you can’t take it 14 days before surgery). Hope it helps! 🤗

Very interesting (and I love your vlogs), apart from the throwaway about high pain tolerance. We don’t have a choice about the pain. Some of us definitely have a high pain tolerance but the reason why we come for help is that we don’t have a fatigue and exhaustion tolerance, or the mental tolerance to deal with this day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade. I live in the UK and have autoimmune psoriatic arthritis and osteoarthritis. I have had a hip replacement and I am still in dreadful pain due to being left too long before the operation was carried out because I was too young ! By the time it was carried out I had bone on bone contact with tiny shreds of cartilage left. My ongoing pain is in my hip, pelvis and lower back and is, I believe, due to being thrown out of line when walking for so long. No amount of physio has helped me. Add that to the psoriatic pain and it kind of gets you down. We are warriors and we DO have a high pain threshold.

I don’t know if it has been mentioned but it is surely important to address the particular pathway CBD uses in the body; if a patient is taking other various medicines, taking CBD can compete, cancelling out the med that uses the same pathway. This can be dangerous in many cases. For example, both Zebeta and CBD use the same path; if u use CBD oil and take it as the same time or close, u may be cancelling out the benefit of your BP med.

Hi there! I tried CBD oil for the first-time last night. I have chronic back pain and a "new" pain in my right deltoid since covid vaccine November 2021. It started with a slight ache at the site of the shot which has been gradually getting worse over time. I thought the pain was going away by its own, but it didn't, so I took a visit to my doctor in August and told her what was going on etc. She sent me to get few tests: x-ray, EMG, and ultrasound, and all came back negative. The pain is rather debilitating and the worse is at night which keeps me from getting a full night sleep. Last week I was talking to my cousin, and she told me she was taking CBD for her pain and has been feeling great. Yesterday I tried for the first time, had no idea what to do 'cause I got it from a friend who has a neighbor who makes it. I have to tell you that I slept all night and woke up pain-free! I will try again tonight and hope it keeps working! Thank you!

Non-urgent w/ overnight have been cancelled since the first week of December so I certainly wasn’t surprised but did luck out w/ my surgery falling on the first day outpatient surgeries were added to the cancellation list🤦🏻‍♀️…technically through 1/14 as they’re doing it in 2wk blocks, but it’s well understood that it will be longer as they’re not even bothering to reschedule at this point, the National Guard has been deployed to help, etc.

I fully understand the difference between CBD and THC. I have extremely reduced my arthritis using THC and my elliptical. The THC just takes my mind off the pain and boredom of using the elliptical. I'm 61yrs old and I do 20 miles (5 hours) every other day. I dropped 80lbs and I my horrid arthritis has but all cleared up. I tried CBD and it helped but did not inspire me to be active. I truly believe that activity is the only way to battle arthritis. PEACE OUT!!!

I've had 4 surgeries on my knee, for pain I was prescribed oxycodone by my surgeon, I never used it. I tried CBD and it did nothing for my post op pain. I have medical marijuana prescribed to me, so I use it, THC works. My experience is medical marijuana works, CBD is a placebo.

My great grandfather was a doctor and my family had a lot of his tools of the trade. One piece was a leather bound pill case with various pill bottles in it and one of them was labeled "Canabis Sativa". In it were little green pills. In the 1960's, my brothers and sister of course thought that was very cool. I just wish he was alive so I could ask him what he used it for. I guess I'll have to try and Google what Canabis Sativa was used for in pre-1900 medicine. The problem I have with CBD oil and the multitude of products that are sold legally today is they portend that they can cure or help almost anything and people believe it just because they say so. I think it is a bit of snake oil salesmanship. I'm not convinced. I think it's a lot of placebo affect.

I had a nissen funduplication in 2014 and since then I have experienced cramps and severe nausea, my doctor's would always prescribe tablets which without fail make my cramps worse. My wife bought me a bottle of cbd 3 weeks ago as a last resort and maybe it's the placebo effect but I'm cramp and nausea free for the first time in years and I couldn't be happier.

I have a severe spinal cord injury and had back surgery. The pain is 24/7 and they offer me morphine, Percocet…opioids knowing the epidemic in the US. I refuse to become a legal addict. My last choice was to try CBD in s/l drops and carts and the topical balm. It helps very much because it reduces the inflammation and the pain, Witheout any side effects like the opiates. As a retired physician, I can say that CBD works for me!!👍👍

My son-in-law took some last week for a bad headache and he apparently took too much. His hearing was hyper-sensitive and said he could hear everyone’s conversations from afar. He said he would never take again because he didn’t like the effects. Maybe some of the pain people have can be solved by lifestyle, exercise, losing weight, etc. Our culture seems to want to throw the quick fix without getting to why of the pain. I realize there are cases where pain is inevitable but many times it can be fixed without meds and surgery.

Having osteoarthritis for years, and finding no general pain reliever that worked, I was given a bottle of high quality organic CBD cream to try for my joint pain. I was amazed; took my pain down from a 7 to a 4 within minutes. After using it once per day on the same location, my pain level went to 0! And, amazingly the pain level stayed at 0 for 5 days after I was told to stop using it. Sadly, I had to stop using it due to my doctor's orders of concern of potential problems interacting with my many meds. There are not enough medical studies concerning cbd and interactions with many allopathic medicines. So I am now back to dealing with the constant pain again. But I have to say, the high quality cbd cream, 300 mcg, was better than anything I have tried for arthritis pain, even injections. I wish I could use it again.

I will say it does give minor pain relief. I notice I'm actually skipping a dose every day without noticing a difference. That said where it helps the most is with anxiety. Since my cancer treatments. I was diagnosed with chemo brain. Shortly afterward I started suffering from severe anxiety. To give you an example, I was afraid to go out my back door for a year. I had to walk around the house to get to my back yard or I just avoided going. I decided to try CBD oil and to my surprise, it worked. I didn't have that tight feeling all day like everything was closing in. I didn't even realize anything like that had happened to me until I had relief from it. I just knew I was getting angry for no reason when I had to go somewhere or be around people. It took days to prepare myself and a change in anything would set me off.
The doctors had me on multiple different medications to try and offset the anxiety but nothing worked. My anti-depressants often left me with more side effects than relief. After years of living like this and already being disabled from back issues. I found CBD on sale again and tried it recently. Within an hour of taking it I was able to breathe freely and live my life for a few hours. I will say, it's not affordable but it does work. I've used both the broad and full spectrum and both have worked for anxiety.

I have had chronic back pain for years due to of fairly screwed-up spine. Early on it was degenerative discs and now is spinal stenosis. Nerve pain to my low back and down my leg. Ibuprofen has helped quite a bit.
Cortisone injections every 4 months was working but not so well lately. Pain doctor did radio frequency ablation on my low back about 5 months ago. and I was relatively pain-free up until the last couple of weeks. Started back on 800mg/day of ibuprofen. We'll see how it goes. RFA was amazing for my case and it seems it can be done as needed without without the problems associated with OTC and prescription drugs

I have tried taking different brands of CBD oil in order to relieve my chronic, severe insomnia which I’ve had since 2006‼️ Last week I tried a new-to-me brand of 1,500mg CBD *WITH* THC and am praising the Lord for MANY years of prayers finally answered. Last night was my 5th consecutive night where I have slept about 5-6 hrs!! For me that is AH-MAZING!! Will it continue to help? Praying so…

You too are great! You both crack me up, but I learned so much from these episodes. I love the topics that you discuss. I’m currently dealing with a meniscus tear so I very much enjoyed those episodes. Maybe I should look for some topical CBD oil for my knee as I haven’t had arthroscopic surgery which I will probably end up doing.

Try one of the "Muscle rubs". (Lazarus Naturals) as an example. Apply it in very small amounts, (Less than a pencil eraser in size) and continue rubbing into the area of concern till absorption (dry) has been achieved. Worth a try, works very effective.

So, how do I know that I am getting high quality CBD oil? Does increased price equate to increased effectiveness? Will a $20 bottle work as well as a $120 bottle? I have arthritis in both my knee and ankle due to a misalignment of a fracture from a motorcycle accident at 16 (am now 69). I have been taking CBD for @ a year now as I am trying to stave off two joint replacements but need pain control for daily living/movement. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.
