That's a nice design Linn. In painting the hinge piece, you can paint or burn an arrow onto it. On the box side, you can add the words, open and closed which the arrow on the hinge will point too when it's in that position.
I really enjoy the design process and how it exposes the working of the mind. From a manufacturing perspective I would question it but it looks so cool. I would have been happy to come up with it. Thank you very much Lynn. Ps nice hat!!
I think the revision is quite an elegant solution - and the box looks nicer, IMO. I wonder if a parameterized cutting file would be a viable product. User enters desired length, width, and depth of box and out pops a file to control the cutter. Do laser cutters work off a common format, like STL for 3D printers? Nice box and interesting video, Linn.

Good system, but it can still be improved!
