@@normaguerra6158 I thought the stool video would be quick and easy so I started with that... Working on the wood shop design video now and hope to have it out in a few weeks.
As a former interior architect, I would love to hear more about the design of the workshop! I would also enjoy seeing a video on the stool design. Great video!
This is, by far, my favorite shop tour that I have ever seen. Putting aside your many unique storage and organization ideas, it is breathtaking how you created such a peaceful place with a natural theme infused into every square foot. I could go on, but I’ll just say this is highly inspiring. You clearly have a gift
Fitting that you mention negative space in architecture in relation to storage, because the same is true of the importance of negative space in editing. I appreciate the floor plan with camera angles shown, because it can become a little confusing to get a gist of exactly where things are in a workshop. Those indicators and the pause in voice over when showing a tool are important bits of negative space in the video for understanding and processing. It's very well considered.
I agree, As you have probably realized videography is fairly new to me. Learning how to use these tools to tell an interesting story is my new adventure. thanks!
You've had to make a million decisions to get to this point in time, and I think you've made all the right ones. Even the video editing and delivery was spot on. I can't wait to see where your journey takes me!
Beautiful shop. As an architect, I appreciate the sophisticated, elemental design. Please share more videos on the design and construction. I’d also love to see construction details of the stool!
Such a unique shop design! So very different from all the shop tours in TH-cam. I like the dimensions (12 x 24), the natural lighting and the unique storage solutions - perfect for a backyard shop. Would appreciate a detail design video - materials used and so on. How about insulation?
I can only imagine the amount of work it takes to make design like that look and feel so effortless. Just an incredible space, and for most people watching in the UK the thought of a 12 x 24 shop being small is hilarious 😂. 10/10 sir
I think Americans often make things bigger than necessary...like our butts/bums. However for the 8 foot long lumber I use my shop is right sized in my opinion. thanks!
Rick, I have been an architect here in Mississippi since 1985. Your shop design and tour is one of the more elegant and resolved solutions I’ve seen in a long while. The detailing and shop furniture is well thought out and beautiful. If I’m not mistaken it appears the wall cladding you are using is polycarbonate sheet; just curious about how this space is heated and cooled. My shop is in my 3rd car garage. It’s 18x24, but it’s so packed with tools and machines, it lacks any thread of organization as your shop offers.😂 thanks for sharing, it’s a very inspiring design.
Eric, thanks for the comment! I am getting into the design but in general the shop is intended to be an outside space. The weather is reasonable most of the time in Charlotte so it has no cooling. However I did install a good heater a few years ago. The heater will bring the shop from 30 to 50 deg in a couple hours. I heat the space only when I am in it. Maybe 15 cold winer days a year.
@@kazebeedesign Your canopy coverage & cross-ventilation are key elements to comfort. I'm also in Charlotte, but my shop has full-sun exposure above and on South & West sides with paving on the West side and no windows. It's VERY hot during the summer (reached 88F inside temp last month with AC off). I need heat end of November through February to keep glue from chalking.

Wonderful! I'm about to break ground on building my own 12 x 20 woodshop with a 10 x 12 loft for storage. But setting up my workspace when it's done is a complete blur right now. This is awesome. I'll definitely be back in Sketchup redesigning my interior.
Processing a 4x8 sheet of plywood was my largest issue. I drew the plywood and moved It through the shop in CAD. You can do the same in sketch up with whatever materials you use. Best of luck!
I've watched tons of shop tour videos and yours is far and away my favorite. The architecture and resulting view into and out of your space is just inspirational. Bravo.

Fantastic shop and an equally fantastic walkthrough! I like how you showed the view direction. I think I’ll do the same when I do a walkaround in my motorbike shed. Brilliant.
Love the design of the building and negative spaces. Great workshop. I live in the UK - winter temperature can be an issue (less so with global warming) - had not considered a workshop with glasss walls . . . My workshop has not been built yet -- obviously where its possible to add some joy through the design then go for it. Thank you. Your workshop is like an elegant skeleton clock - simplisticly, two parts - a glass rectangular block and an internal wooden frame - but merged.
You have a lovely shop. If it only had more lumber storage-perhaps in an outbuilding, rather than the shop’s attic. I’m also intrigued by your stool design.

Such a beautiful shop man, absolutely my style and aestethic. Had to subscribe immediately. When I fell in love in love with woodworking I didn't have access to any indoor space whatsoever so I started building everything outdoors and just tarping everything every night. Finally built me a 8x10 lean to shop with two open ends so the sunshine and hummingbirds could always say hi. Two months after I finished building my shop we lost the house and had to move into a rental. So it was back to tarps for me. We went through one of the worst storm seasons this last year for our area here in Southern California and I escaped with almost zero water damage, I'll chalk that up to a success. Ill always set myself up to work in an open airy space like this in some tandem with the elements. Great stuff man, I feel like anybody that is relegated to a very small shop learns to use every single inch to its utmost potential , just as you said. Multiple uses for everything, folding workspaces on hinges, etc. Best wishes from Cali bro!
Love this woodshop so much! This is exactly what I dream of having! A lovely relaxing and quiet wood shop surrounded by nature where I can get away from humans. Wouldnt it be nice to be your son? 😂😂 Thank you for the great tour man
Thank you for the tour. The openness is amazing and I’d love to work in a shop like it. I’d be scared of my fancier hand tools and likely to build a serious case for them to lock. I have a few military-looking toolboxes with the double lined metal sheets and an articulating latch similar to windows that spans out to locate pins outward. Bolt a few of those to floor. Just for the special, irreplaceable items. The space under he drill press is the only spot and I personally love the Woodsmith drill press cabinet. Seeing how open you made everything is the opposite of cabinets. Whitespace is a big deal to me too but mostly from print and I think of enclosed boxes when woodworking. Nice to see the antonym of closed.

Wow! You pack so much into that "small" shop, yet it feels incredibly spacious. It must be pretty mild where you are. It would be too cold in winter where I live.
@@kazebeedesign Honestly, growing up in Michigan I have found that the extremes of temperature over the seasons actually has the effect of helping develop physical resiliency and health. If there's anything that can help one deal with cold and heat, it's being completely absorbed in a wood working project! Beautiful shop...I'm jelly!
Love the clear walls and window openings, they complement the "minimalist functional wood-shop" approach. Nice touch with the air cleaning and dust collection. You must have a brush attachment for vacuuming surfaces and corners?
Appreciate your layout, thought process in the shop structure design, the flow of your shop in machine, storage placement. Living in 7500 degree elevation in Colorado, can only dream of having a glass structure workshop. Your natural lighting, reminds me of classical master painting of centuries long past. By chance, are you going to make available pdf plans of workshop structural design, cut lists, etc?either early morning or late afternoon
The space has so much light and lightness! For the design considerations, I guess weather must be mild there? That stool would fit so well in my home, please do a video!
Interesting to see! All the windows are great of course, but, you give up wall space. The solution with adding 'open' racks on front works, however. I am redesigning my shop at the moment, also a small space - and I recognize the need for smart solutions, and using every bit of space for storage. However, my shop feels 'full and crowded', not airy ... Because I have no concern at all too the design, only on functionality and practicality. One concern i would have with this shop would be dust. All the open shelving look like great places for dust to accumulate, and who likes cleaning...
I like cleaning. Sometimes I do it just to clear my head from the dramas of architectural practice. I open all the windows and doors and blow dust with the air compressor, the wind does the rest. Thanks for the comment.
You most definitely should make another video focused on the architectural design of the shop, and get as detailed as your heart desires. Fascinating space.

Love the clear walls and window openings, they complement the "minimalist functional wood-shop" approach. Nice touch with the air cleaning and dust collection. You must have a brush attachment for vacuuming surfaces and corners?
yes Rockler knows me well.
Awesome!! Love your shop. Would love to see a video about your shop design and build. Thank you
Thanks! I guess that means I need to figure out how to record better voice overs...
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome!
Please do a home tour! Looks amazing
Thanks, I will eventually life is complicated...
When working with New Belgium I spent time in Fort Collins. Lowlanders like me need to watch alcohol at elevation. Not that I would know.
So…..blueprints pdf available?
Vide of build of workshop?
The space has so much light and lightness! For the design considerations, I guess weather must be mild there? That stool would fit so well in my home, please do a video!
Charlotte NC is mild but getting hotter...
Buteafull shop...
Beautiful space, and I love the old tools. That hammer should be named Mjolnir :D
It is one of my favorite tools. Thanks!
非常棒的工作室分享,漂亮
Thanks!
Very inspirational
thanks!
Yeah, this gives me some great ideas! Also I'd love to see the stool video
Working on it now.
So nice.
thans!
