Japanese pull saws work great for cutting off dowels. Lowes carries an inexpensive, ($3 +/-) plastic handled flexible saw blade. Much easier and no router noise.
I solved the same problem with two scraps of wood that were the same thickness that I stuck to the bottom of my router with double sided tape. Worked perfectly.
The hole saw is only marginally smaller than the work piece, and you hold it with one hand !!! It must be clamped firmly while drilling. And that hole should be cut in a longer piece BEFORE cutting it to length. Like many youtube, woodwork videos, this one has many serious safety issues.
To set your height, put a playing card on the surface you want to be flush to. Then drop your bit depth to the top of the card. That way you won't go too deep. Better to sand a tiny bit on the pegs than sand a lot on the larger surface. You had some nay sayers in the comments, but I thought it was a fine little project.
LOVE THIS! My favorite part is using a cross point to mark the center for the drill bit. I'm tired of not being exact. I would use a flexible saw to remove the pegs, my personal choice, if I had to do this for a living, I would definitely consider doing this. LOOK FORWARD to all your other creations. Interesting effort. I don't see the value for the effort with 3 dowels, but if you had to do hundreds, I can see where it could help. Still have to sand afterwards, which seemed like that would be a step you would be trying to avoid. Appreciate the creative thinking but not something many others may need.
There are so many other, simpler ways to do this. And…you ignore basic safety rules for using the table saw, as well as the drill press. Very poor judgement, knowing that most of your audience is likely to be beginner woodworkers.
Don't do that! After the rip cut, he makes a cross cut that is extremely dangerous. You should never make a crosscut that is shorter than the blade above the table. Preferably longer. That block of wood is floating momentarily between the fence and the plate of the saw blade. One false move and it will bind between the blade and fence and kick back will occur sending said block fly at you. Or even worse, a couple of fingers as well. Don't think that you can pull your hand away if it occurs either. It only takes a split second and human reaction time is way too slow. There are many examples out there of people who experience kickback and accidentally stick their hand into the blade. I've had formal training in an academic setting, and have worked in commercial cabinet shops. Go to a mitre saw, or use a sled.
Regardless of how functional it is or isn't, just watching his technique is a blessing. EAT THE CHICKEN AND SPIT OUT THE BONES :) I love watching wood craftsmen - they are mostly different in their processes. Always something to learn from watching a man carving up wood.
I agree, but if I had to remove a bunch of these pegs every day, I would consider this method. I love the flat flexible saws, I have a small one, and like you pointed out it cuts it flush to the wood with zero fear of going to deep or not deep enough. I know it still needs sanded but not very much at all.
Cross cutting freehand is very dangerous. I suggest staying away from tablesaws until you learn how to use them safely. Do yourself a favor and watch some Stubby Nubs videos.

The 16,000 plans are a pile of crap. Don't waste your money.

I came to say the same thing. Was hoping this was going to be something different.
AND SAFER!!!
Thats alot of effort for something a multi tool can do
Amazing that you still have all 10 fingers. Those techniques you use are begging for injury.
I solved the same problem with two scraps of wood that were the same thickness that I stuck to the bottom of my router with double sided tape. Worked perfectly.
Love the way you did this! Useful in many situations. I'll be making one soon as I get back to the shop! Thx for sharing 👍
Table saw safety is horrendous !!

Wouldn't be quicker to use a Japanese saw to cut the ends off?
A lot easier
Just expose the bit flush to the plastic trim of the router and have the same type of jig witout mounting anything to router? 😂
Then how would he have a video to post?

Table saw safety has become non existent on TH-cam.
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment 😉👍🙏
@@WillWoodDiywoodworking I watched 33 seconds. You're a serious table saw accident waiting to happen.
Fingers are for chumps!

Wow

Very, very good idea. 👍🏻 👍🏻 LG Martin 🙋♂️

Could cut those dowels with a flush saw in 5% of the time.
Looks not like the thumbnail picture. Do you need click bait?
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment 😉👍🙏
The image on the video image selection panel is misleading.
Nice try but too bad it's not effective. Better with a hand saw

@@wjs167 Absolutely!!
Why couldn't you accomplish the same thing just by setting the bit flush with the router base?
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment 😉👍🙏
Use the simple sander
Instead of wasting the time and energy on this project
Where are the bearings! Misleading at best.
Opět Clickbait !!! Jsem rád, že nejsem sám kdo nasnáší tyhle metody 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿🤢 Ať vyrobíš cokoli, snižuje to hodnotu tvého snazení.
why thumb nail not match video?
Safety?
Use a push stick!

Honestly don’t see a benefit over using a plunge router. Or, a Japanese pull saw for that matter.

I wonder why you felt a need to say that.
Es una porkeria
Very useful for trimming through dominos in drawer boxes. Flush saw will work but not when you have a kitchen's worth of drawer boxes to do.
I can honestly state "I was not impressed".
Look, You have invented common sense
What a colossal waste of time to make a horrible mess that consumes more time sanding!
That’s what I wood call a wast of time a Japanese so would do a better job
that was almost useless
Clickbait, pic doesn't reflect what was made and used.

nop....no megusta
5 mins of my life wasted by know nothing geeks ...again
It's a silly and useless thing.
Besides this circus with circular saw is so dangerous that should be banned by the
U Tube rules!😮
I made a similar one with WoodPrix instructions!
😂😂😂😂🪚🪚🪚?????
