Although every place does have it's advantage, KL with it's modern convivence's of the larger city, KK for it's outdoor activities(beaches) and affordability, Penang to me was right in the middle of the two cities but the food was probably the best as well. The thing about KK is that it's still developing into something not yet seen yet, so it does add that excitement of what's to come.

A few years ago, my dear Chinese friend who exported washing powder to someone in Kota Kinabalu, was never paid the 50 000 US $ which is quite a lot of money to lose. He was so sad and nervous after going there. I will never forget what he had to go through, by people from KK scamming him. And he is such a humble decent man. I will never visit Malaysia or KK ever, because of what happened to him.

Im Sabahan native, Muslim in Sabah are more open-minded and tolerant. Due to our multi-religious and cultural background, we tend to have family members who doesn't profess the same religion due to wide practice of inter-religious/racial marriage. Most Sabahan are not quite religious. So, that's not a thing to be concerned of beside the hot and humid climate.
