Great summary comparison covering all key points. Especially appreciated the details on key action differences. Decided on the CA701, and ordering tomorrow. Thank you!!
I upgraded from a baby grand Kawai GL10 to a brand new Kawai GL40 just a few months ago. Although I love the piano it is a little overpowering for my small apartment. I play a lot of Chopin and Brahms. Which of the CA models would you recommend? I’m going in to get one next week. They have a CA501, CA701 and CA901 in stock. Thank you
I personally like the CA701 the best for the price point and for the features that I like (GF3 action, touchscreen, and the sound selection). But all 3 are good options depending on what you're looking for!
Getting my CA701 this week. Also really liked the CA901, you can definitely hear the resonance and the powerful bass. But a bit above budget. In case i want to improve sound later i can always connect speakers to it
Thanks for the great breakdown. I've been using a CN3 for like 15 years and it's good to see a comparison of the current slate from Kawaii (they're website isn't the best) 😀😀
Thanks for another very informative video. It did, however, lead me to ponder a question regarding how one might choose between a CA901 and an NV5S. Though both feature an acoustic soundboard and a power digital engine, the NV5S, as you know, has Kawai’s millennium 3 acoustic piano action. 🤔
It's a good question! I think it comes down to budget and which touch/action you prefer. The CA901 has a newer sound system (with new sampling, etc.) than the NV5S.
Hello and Thank you for detailed new series Kawai's introducing. Using now ES-920 keyboard and very happy with sounds quality. Planning to buy this series 701 OR 901 in spring time. In my area could't found place to even try keys sounds... Where this models manufactures ? My favorite is White Finish, but unfortunately Polish only in Black color.
I'm glad that you're enjoying your ES920--I agree that the sound sampling quality is really good. I believe that most of the digital pianos are manufactured in Kawai factories in Indonesia. But there are worldwide distributors for these pianos. I would recommend looking up your region on the Kawai Global website and seeing if there are any distributors/retailers near you.
Thank you for this great presentation of the four wonderful new "Concert Artist" (CA) digital piano's. Apart from the superb and unique Kawai WOOD KEY action you demonstrated so well, could you please give your opinion on the sound presentation difference between the more affordable 401 and 501 if you have heard it ? They both use 4 speakers (2 down) and either forward ( 401 ) or upward ( 501, 701 ) facing speakers. Would a beginner-intermediate student have a realistic and satisfying playing experience with the high-end "entry level" model projecting trebles forward (401) through the wood panel gaps ? Or is the 501, 701, 901 a "must have"? ( If the 401 is at the level of the ES8 or ES920 (with a plastic hammer action III) sound then that is already impressive ). Thanks !
I think the sound quality on the CA401 is great, personally. Since the keyboard action is the same on the CA401 as the CA501, I usually recommend the CA401 just due to price point.
Thanks for sharing your experience and impressions that I appreciate ! It is very reassuring that we ( the consumer / musician ) don't loose out on sound quality with the "small" 401 over the pricier "big" brothers that have so many extra features. So "small" is beautiful too ! Of course Kawai has made it's 501, 701, 901 with more powerful speakers and "harmonic XL imaging" but the 401 / 49 sound system is "great" too according to you ! I'm happy about that. This is important to the budget conscious student or player that does not want to compromise too much on sound quality, even though not all can have "the greatest and latest" ! It's simply not realistic to have the BEST electric piano without the skill, budget and use ! After all, a beginner won't play better on a 401 than on a 901 except that the C will sound a bit more impressive when hitting the key ! Your authentic endorsement, lovely and clear presentations and inspiring demo's have really helped me choose to buy a new Kawai C.A.series piano! Thank you !
I have just bought a 701(white) at a Kawai shop in Japan for my doughter and will arrive soon. 901 was candidate due to the unique speaker system but 901 cannot be disassembled so it is diffcult to move into my doughter's room at 3rd floor. My house is small but if my doughter continues to play the piano, I wish I will buy a SK-2 for my doughter someday.
Probably is me.... but I tried the 501 and 701 today.... and it was difficult to make my mind up over these two..... the 501 white keys I liked ,but the black keys a bit to stiff....the white keys of the 701 where very light, but the black keys where good..... maybe I am just a strange dude.....😂

Congrats on your new piano! I agree, the SK-2 is a very nice instrument!
may I ask the website for that shop?
Do u mean velocity sensitive playing is only in the top 2 models? The rest have uniform velocity?

Got inside sound of Kawai ep 308? Thanks
