Blue Waffles I see a bit of a problem with the turning test, when Sariel turned the wheel to the max then pushed the model, the front wheels immediately lashed back and made the turning way wider
The external tool is ment to simulate the second key which you need for the original car to go on Top Speed of 463 km/h. And it can be stored under the hood.
Not to mention, that second key hides in the driver's side sill, right next to the seat. The latest Carfection video has all kinds of sweet details about the Chiron!!
Simyo Paris Oh yeah !!! I have a ton of new ideas ! This is surely going to be a very fun period of time ! & Thank You, fellow ^^ I appreciate your support like no other ;)
It's bluetooth based, and the receiver is integrated into the BB. But is uses new plugs, and the power and control unit only has 2 ports, so one can only insert/control 2 motors. Also we do not have backwards compatibility with PF 1.0 (and by extension, 9V) After all the hype and high expectations, PF 2.0 turned out not to be more than a weaker Sbrick or BuWizz. That's why i called it a joke
21:27 That's called a Dropped axle Used for low floor vehicle Ex, A Low floor bus has a Dropped front axle for lowest possible floor height and a normal rear axle connected to rear engine.
22:51 i recently saw a review of the real Bugatti Chirone, and i think this key is an omage to the real speed key used in the Chirone to set it to it’s fastest driving state.
Sariel, i've got an important question. Can you keep the spoiler in the upright position when removing the key? - does it fall back down, or can you keep it in the two positions when leaving it out for display? In addition, could you explain how the spoiler mechanicals work?
Front suspension issue is matter of spring stiffness. The same problem I have with Arocs - when on display it goes low after some time. This is why I keep it on display with extra support behind the wheels. It is just few extra pieces connected to a chassis.
The only good thing about these supercars are the tire rims, which are great for MOCs, but u could use the 4*6 angle beam instead. That transmission is worth learning from, but it's just two simple 4 speed gearboxes put together, making it a 4*4 transmission.
Terrific video Sariel, thank you. I bought this today. I enjoyed building the Porsche (12.5 hours for me. But I was drinking). One of the Who Will Like This Set you left out was "People who like building complicated Technic" (42055 notwithstanding - no, thank you). I'm looking forward to a few evenings with this model (ahem).
I have noticed a slight misprint in the first instruction book at step 40. When it tells you too X2 build the rear suspension set up. But from the right and left side there is one piece that must be put into a different position shown in step 41. It's right by the disc brake and has to do with the connection at the bottom of the suspension spring.
Dolovo_Gaming I get that per piece, but it doesn't feel worth the money as a display piece. Its lack of power functions feels cheap considering the price too. But I will admit, it's a lovely set to buy if you don't mind the investment.
At first I thought "16+R" was a typo. It's incredible that they could fit that many speeds into a reasonably compact package like that! Especially given the last model had only 4+R. I have been waiting for the day that we see more gears with the clutch in them. Also those new rotary catch rings are an cool introduction that I never thought we needed!
My 2cents. Currently building this model after much procrastination, and took notice of the front suspension comment you made, a simple fix is below. The cars front suspension will hold up under it's own weight, it's a minor design fault by Lego, I swapped the blue triple pins where the control arms mount to the frame, for the cream colored triple pins. I have a smooth flowing front end that returns under it's own effort.
Thanks again for another fantastic review. Your detailed reviews that highlight both the good and bad really help with the decision process...after all spending 360 Eur on a Lego set should not be taken lightly. I look forward to your review of 42082. I will decide after that where my money is going on my big Technic set this year.
You could argue that front suspension sag is part of the design. In its sagged position the ride hight looks like the real thing. But this car can lift it's front end to clear speed bumps and such.
I have this set for about half a year. When I finished it, the front suspension didn't work at all and I had ZERO building errors. Now, after sitting on a shelf for so long, the rear suspension has got so stiff that it doesn't work either.Lol. As these sets get older, their functions start working poorly or not work at all. But for display, both the Bugatti and the Porsche are amazing. I don't regret buying them although they should be cheaper. I can't wait to see the Lamborghini they are gonna release in the summer and someone who sees this comment 😂.
that "tool" you use to operate the wing is supposed to be the key to unlock all of the power of the Bugatti chiron, and in the real thing is kept in the side of the door on the driver side
I personally own this set and I have a myth to bust about the Chiron's transmission. On the instructions and in actual, it has 2 rings on the right and 2 rings on the left. The left rings with the blue gears are for 4 small speeds and the right rings controls the larger speed range, so the transmission is a 4*4=16 speeds. But upon closer examination, I found that the 2 rings on the right have only 2 speeds i n effect, so it is actually an 8 speed transmission. The reverse gear is outside the transmission, so the Chiron has, in total, 8+R speeds.
The front of the model in my opinion ruins its looks, but it seems to be fixable, do you have any ideas? The rear at the same time is a masterpiece in all respects. Thank you for the review!
Really hoping Lego eventually use these rims, or rims like them, with a properly placed pivot point more, and in sets other than just super-premium ones.
I would say the dedicated tool looks a lot like the superspeed key, which allowed the veyron to change the rear spoiler behaviour so it reached higher speed with less downforce. I thought they got rid of this in the chiron, but anyway its a cool trick to actually make a tool that remember you this :)
i like the look of the backside/ roof/ sides/ interior, but i think the front has way too many gaps and holes. for instance i noticed you can easily see the luggage when the hood is closed from certain angles
I'm an extremely avid car enthusiast, but I've never been a huge fan of the Veyron or Chiron. I own 42056 and it's really tempting to buy this and put it next to the Porsche...
You have a build issue with your front shocks. You have the bottoms mounted one stud inboard from what the build instructions show. I made a similar mistake when building my version. This is the cause of the poor function of the front shocks.
Damn... I kinda knew I would want this set. Obviously this set is better than the Porsche, has your opinion on the Porsche set changed at all over time?
>42056 set looks very close to an actual Porsche It was much easier to implement Porsche forms with Lego Technic. Bugatti's body is much more complicated. Also, wheel arches designed in 2016 especially for Porsche have somehow ruined the front end of Bugatti (in terms of proportions and forms). Lego should have designed new front wheel arches for Bugatti to represent it looks more accurately. On the bright side, Chiron's back end looks just awesome, much better than Porsche's one. So do the more detailed cockpit. And, of course, Bugatti's transmission is nuch more impressive. So, overall Bugatti is more stunning. The only serious drawback is the front end, especially the hood.
Fair call, I was actually very much thinking in terms of the mechanics (so maybe "obviously" was too strong a term). That new part for the transmission is really what grabbed my attention. I do think they've done a reasonably good job on shaping the Chiron, but the Porsche does look more faithful.
I have the suspension issue figured out! When I disconnected the shock absorbers both from the front and rear wheels, the suspension arm was still quite stiff because stiff pins were used rather than axles, I moved the arm up and down and it was quite stiff anyway, and the stiffness of the pins prevents the shock absorbers from stretching back up once pushed down Edit: it’s not because the weight is too much for the springs. Check out my video on my channel to see my solution , I adjusted the suspension and took away the stiffness and the suspension is very responsive and bouncy now
Now tell me, Mr. Sariel - do you think it would be possible to modify the rear spoiler so it pops out after you choose the highest gear on the gearbox? Because that would be freaking cool...
2 things I really think they could have done better: body work above the front lights, the hood. it just needs to be a bit more pointy and closed, they did awsome work at the back but the front has too many gaps
Wow. 7 hours is impressive. I've been building for 10 hours at least and am still only half way through the 3rd box. Today was the 5th day working on it for me, lol. So yeah, it's taking a while ....
Do you think it would be possible to squeeze power functions in the cabin to make it remote control? The drivetrain and steering is already there, so that's why i thought of it.
Very nice model, and I thought the transmission was an 8+R? And I might know why the front suspension sags. This is just a theory but it may work. Basically I didn’t like the very short suspension travel on the Porsche 911 GT3 rs, so I redesigned the front axle and designed it similar to the one in this chiron, except without FWD, and the front suspension on the Porsche starting sagging as well ! I’m wondering that maybe the shocks are positioned wrongly? Or maybe the bottom part of the shock needs to be on the top part of the suspension arm? Just a theory. I’m working out an easier approach now
I both love and hate the undercarriage of this model...I like seeing all the gears the back is rather disappointing in that aspect...but it does make it look cleaner
Nice review, thanks for the time you put in during this busy part of your life. Nice model, think it would look good sitting on a shelf from a distance
Disappointed from review. Sariel you did not show the details of internal modul. Other video review did it... modul of suspension, gearbox, shifting, rear spoiler etc... Look here from time 2:20: th-cam.com/video/88rs18L3dBU/w-d-xo.html
They didn't make a new piece to make the pistons have a bit different timing? 4 of the pistons in a W16 engine firing at the same time is not realistic. Also, disappointing that they didn't fix some of the problems the Porsche had, like the steering wheel and mirrors.
Well done on your live build Sariel - less than 7 hours!! 👍 👍 👍
LEGO plz just make the hamster sariel designed
You know your awesome when Lego gives props 😊 I personally am too excited for the dieselnaut!
damn this is one awesome set, its cool cuz I made an almost identical engine in my porsche and utillised the same rear suspension trick😅🖒
same front suspension isue as in the porsche btw
LEGO does this... ACTUALLY have 16 gears? O.o HOW???
23:46 “It’s turning radius would put the Titanic to shame,” this is why I love this channel.
25:06 I rest my case.
Blue Waffles iii
Very funny!
Blue Waffles I see a bit of a problem with the turning test, when Sariel turned the wheel to the max then pushed the model, the front wheels immediately lashed back and made the turning way wider
Doesn't that mean that it turns better than the titanic? Or is this ironic and I'm just retarded?
The external tool is ment to simulate the second key which you need for the original car to go on Top Speed of 463 km/h. And it can be stored under the hood.
Martin Lierk , yes you are right! I totally forgot about that.
Not to mention, that second key hides in the driver's side sill, right next to the seat. The latest Carfection video has all kinds of sweet details about the Chiron!!
Would love to see the complex lines of the Mclaren P1 interpreted by lego
MattL600's Technic I don’t think they could do it well unless they chose to use flex axles instead of panels like the Chiron does
Probably won't look good but I would want to see it since the p1 is my dream car
MattL600's Technic
How about the 2017 ford GT?
Very geometrical car, not many complex shapes
Well, not TLG, but I think this would put them to shame. :)
th-cam.com/video/La43fEiUPnU/w-d-xo.html
It isn’t a technic set without gaps 😂
Amen brother!
Joseph G Amen
Typical person I feel the Porsche was better on less gaps
Typical person bu ıncllşi
These skeletal cars has its own charms
New Gearbox parts ! I wasn't expecting that ! I'll build a ton more gearboxes then !
Technic is the one rabbit hole of Lego that I have yet to dive into. It's truly fascinating to see the machines people like you come up with.
Paused the video at 14:14 and tried to figure out, why you circled that little grey pin. Than realised that's only a rubber band :D
Lmao
This is without question, the most thorough review on TH-cam...for anything. Thank you
Loved the The Room / Disaster Artist reference!
These New Rotary changeover catch rings, will work perfectly with my micro 90° Steppers ;)
Can't wait to see what kind of crazy things you will be able to make with it!
Simyo Paris Oh yeah !!! I have a ton of new ideas ! This is surely going to be a very fun period of time !
& Thank You, fellow ^^ I appreciate your support like no other ;)
Lego Technic Mastery I am most excited for that new blue gear, because you can build gearboxes with only two shafts
Atte Räisänen This is soooo cool ! ^^
Are you gonne buy the whole set, or are you gonne buy the parts seperatly?
Or both off course.
I'm early, let's make a joke:
PF 2.0
tamas lapsanszki good one
tamas lapsanszki 😊
I DONT GET IT
It's bluetooth based, and the receiver is integrated into the BB. But is uses new plugs, and the power and control unit only has 2 ports, so one can only insert/control 2 motors. Also we do not have backwards compatibility with PF 1.0 (and by extension, 9V)

tamas lapsanszki you predicted everything perfectly wtf
"Sariel" this is the way a review should be done!!!! "Sariel" twuj sposob na robiene "reviews" jest standardem! DZIEKI "Thank you" i Pozdro!!!!!!
great LEGO model
All those blue panels look real nice for mecha builds, and holy shit those orange rotary catches will be perfect for automatic transmissions.
I really REALLY love the room reference at the end
Dear Sariel,
Panels 5 and 6 appears in dark blue in 41999 set (crawler limited edition), You showed them in "pieces in new colours" :)
Piotr Muszel That dark blue 3X5L liftarm too.
Excellent work Sariel, all those Dark Blue parts.... People can now build 41999 just from parts.
21:27
That's called a Dropped axle
Used for low floor vehicle
Ex, A Low floor bus has a Dropped front axle for lowest possible floor height and a normal rear axle connected to rear engine.
Great A for effort, execution however is quite bad compared to fanmade models
Slimy One take a visit to eurobricks, clearly you haven't been there yet
Lorenzo H can someone explain to me what "8 speed" or "16 speed" means?
Lorenzo H Do you mean by how much the speed coming out of the "motor" is multiplied in the wheel rotation?
Look at this one by Lachlan Cameron: th-cam.com/video/wcSdxECOGs4/w-d-xo.html
Full rc, shifts gears and most importantly, no gaps in bodywork
Slimy One yeah I suppose so
Relieved to see there are spare/replacement pieces. I finished 1 box 1 and there were spare pieces and I have been assuming I missed putting them on.
In addition, could you explain how the spoiler mechanicals work?
yes it stays in the upright position.
d1p70 thanks. Now i'd just like to know how the mechanism works
Badams Or Pista
obviously you can keep it up
Bionicle 1x3 Tooth with Axle Hole was released previously in dark azure in set 71308 "Tahu Uniter of Fire" from BIONICLE.
Your hard work on this video does justice to the Lego teams hardwork on the Chiron project
The new pieces are very nice
Front suspension issue is matter of spring stiffness. The same problem I have with Arocs - when on display it goes low after some time. This is why I keep it on display with extra support behind the wheels. It is just few extra pieces connected to a chassis.

WAYYYYYYY too expensive, considering.

I get where you are coming from, for less money you could get 42055 wich has more pieces. And it has power functions.
Dolovo_Gaming yeah...
Pretty much - The bucket excavator is a better display piece too.
Catalyst, don’t forget Bugatti’s commission for using their branding.
Catalyst In the US, it’s not that bad; $350
At first I thought "16+R" was a typo. It's incredible that they could fit that many speeds into a reasonably compact package like that! Especially given the last model had only 4+R.

It's 8 + R, as explained in the video description.
There should be a LEGO technique Ford gt
id buy that one immediatly
u are talking about the gt 40 right?
The Ford gt as in the Ford super car
Both the classic and the modern GT would be great as technic sets
Brick Tastic Reviews and More a Lamborghini would be cool, or a Chevy Camaro.
My 2cents.
Currently building this model after much procrastination, and took notice of the front suspension comment you made, a simple fix is below.

Larry House that was the most disappointing part . Guess we will have to redesign the suspension like we had to do to the Porsche

Was that a reference to The Room? Wild!
Thanks for providing these awesome reviews! You really influence my decisions on which sets to get.
Now that +LEGO has attempted the W16, time for them to do an RX-7 and try a minature rotary engine
that "tool" you use to operate the wing is supposed to be the key to unlock all of the power of the Bugatti chiron, and in the real thing is kept in the side of the door on the driver side

Ordered mine, can’t wait !, it will sit very nicely next to the Porsche
22:50 I think there is a way to store the rear wing tool in the hood of the car. I saw it somewhere online.

I cant wait to get my hands on this set. I got the porsche 911 gt3 rs last year for my birthday and I think next to this it will look impressive
I feel like I have to ask this; What's your favourite liscensed technic set of all time? So Volvo, Mack, etc?
Nostalgia. I love the old school music that u used on some of ur older reviews and the review style itself. Good job sariel.
I used to hate the Chiron but soon I learned to love it
The front of the model in my opinion ruins its looks, but it seems to be fixable, do you have any ideas? The rear at the same time is a masterpiece in all respects. Thank you for the review!
Really hoping Lego eventually use these rims, or rims like them, with a properly placed pivot point more, and in sets other than just super-premium ones.

It’s as awesome as f***.Cuz it opens the door of the Lego moc era and it marks a boom era of the Lego brand
After building this set, I notice same saggy front suspensions as yours. I don’t think it’s part of our error.
i like the look of the backside/ roof/ sides/ interior, but i think the front has way too many gaps and holes. for instance i noticed you can easily see the luggage when the hood is closed from certain angles
Such an impressive piece.
Lego needs to do either a Sauber C9 or a Ferrari P4 as their next technic set. I would really like to see how they would do the both of those.
16 gear sequential gearbox, how do you even do that
20:37 Oh, it's kind of like binary counter, I see...
The 1x3 tooth with axle hole was introduced in dark azure in a bionicle set a couple years ago
I would have loved to see the spoiler activate whenever the wheels are spinning, still a great display model tho
Damn...
I kinda knew I would want this set.
Obviously this set is better than the Porsche, has your opinion on the Porsche set changed at all over time?
>42056 set looks very close to an actual Porsche

Dude 7 hours it took to build mine was 2 days
jessica magnolia 48 hours?
It would probably take me a week
Awesome video, and thumbs up for the hamster!
I have the suspension issue figured out! 23:07 why did that look like an infomercial

6 hours 20 minutes on my second attempt.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop wow, that's probably a record!
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop why did you build it twice though?
Because LEGO asked me to: th-cam.com/video/bBNLskdewBM/w-d-xo.html
Thank god they added all the Bugatti stickers to the model, from some angles it doesnt look like the Chiron at all but like a limousine xD
You can store the key in front of the shot-gun seat under the dashboard
Do you think it would be possible to squeeze power functions in the cabin to make it remote control? The drivetrain and steering is already there, so that's why i thought of it.
It will look ugly if it's visible in the cabin.

Awesome puzzle box
The transmission is 8 speed I remember , according to the official designer video
@koot I think is one of 2 and another one of 4,making it 8
Oh man, but as a college student about to set out job hunting where would I find the time...
19:07 the gaps is what makes Lego, technic
Spoken from the heart of a true Lego fan 👏🏿
I both love and hate the undercarriage of this model...I like seeing all the gears the back is rather disappointing in that aspect...but it does make it look cleaner
you can put the wing tool under the front bonnet.. it fits fine and thats where mine is at
It's kinda loose in there.
a little bit but at least its with the model and not somewhere else
I instantly recognized and started laughing at the "The Room" reference
Are you going to do a review of the new roller coaster?
he did
Thanks for making an amazingly detailed video, esp. for those of us unable to buy this beauty
I wonder if there is Ackermann Steering
Nope.
Beautiful I would love to see either a Hennessey venom or Bugatti veyron
Block Dude kind, clo messed finding, nice choose 🎵ciose sciir with beaches pin coin with so certificate of meticulous 😩
The venom all the way
Nice review, thanks for the time you put in during this busy part of your life. Nice model, think it would look good sitting on a shelf from a distance
oh god, it took me a day to get through two boxes, just because of the detailed directions
Disappointed from review. Sariel you did not show the details of internal modul. Other video review did it... modul of suspension, gearbox, shifting, rear spoiler etc... Look here from time 2:20: th-cam.com/video/88rs18L3dBU/w-d-xo.html
great review, I love the editing!
They didn't make a new piece to make the pistons have a bit different timing? 4 of the pistons in a W16 engine firing at the same time is not realistic.
Also, disappointing that they didn't fix some of the problems the Porsche had, like the steering wheel and mirrors.
Saktuscactus my sentiments exactly
it wasnt hard to make a hand of God system in the porsche, hope it wont be to hard in this set either
douwe ten dam Luckily, we don't have to modify the transmission like on the Porsche.
can you please make a speed build video of this set
Like this one? th-cam.com/video/xl95-R_bmoQ/w-d-xo.html
Lego is now so colorful!!
Great review as always sabriel :)
Lots of things to love here, but one thing I hate is that those large wheel arches make the wheels look too small. gahhh
I have the lego technic porsche and i love it, but this set is amazingly cool
Do you think it is a good buy?
Will it now be possible to use the parts from this to make a Blue 42056 Porsche?
What do you think the next big Technic car set's gonna be?
I'm gonna go with some kind of Ferrari or maybe a Ford.
Do you still have to pay for it when you get it early?
