When I was handed the box, I was impressed by its weight, with 23 numbered bags full of parts and its manual of 484 pages. His assembly was very challenging, especially his arm. The risk of making mistakes is high in this set. Very rich in detail, his power function works very well (making sure that the gears do not rub each other) and the pneumatic system is great! It's very nice to play with this set! It had been a beautiful experience!!! :)

I started building this beast 4 days ago and I'm still going. Worth every cent and worth every second that you lay your hands and eyes on it. Best lego set ever
+dabooda49 Haha yeah it took me two days to finish building mine, but I didn't bother with the crane. I just extended the bed and made it a skipper lorry. How did the crane build go? Bet it wasn't much fun XD
+KrazyKrafter's Minecraft I saw that mining excavator 3900 piece set, and after looking at it i reckon this set is still much better, because it is so much more interesting and complex mechanically (with the gear box and pneumatics). That was just my thought when looking at it, we'll wait and see when it comes out though

@@liamshelley496 really well, nothing to complain about. I'm currently taking it apart and rebuilding it as it's B model again with all the lockdown free time, and everything still works the way it should

What a spectacular contraption. The mechanics and physics behind it is unreal.
I built this one a few months ago. It's probably the most fun I've ever had building a set, and that's saying a lot. :) Definitely worth it, and packed with cool features!
This video was fantastically helpful. Not only was your walkthrough really entertaining but your photographic accounting of all the bags helped me greatly as I bought my set as an open box and was terrified that I'd have to count all the parts!

Fantastic review. I found that if you move the foot pad on the stabilizers up one hole, you get more ground clearance, and you can use more of the functional length on them.

according to the instructions, the "feet" of the stabilizers are actually supposed to be attached one stud higher, which would increase the groundclearence a little bit

Good review! Nicely done man! I don't like the way the 'collapse' when the hydro function turned off, but it is still a good set to have.
The build of rear suspension and the crane was the most complected I have ever seen in Lego sets. This was however definitely a fan to build :)

I think it's a great model to build. The pneumatics work better than on the Unimog.
Only problem that annoyed me was the steering. Due to the blocker on the upside down (the connecter with the grey ring-thingie on the yellow bar, I couldn't steer as much to the right as I could to the left. So I simply removed it. Now it works perfectly.
And I guess due to the size of the parts and the truck itself, there was no room for 4 rows on the front grille. 3 looks good enough.
Thanks to you I found out my little problem with the steering control. The lights were actually working against each other. (one moving clock-wise had the other one moving counter clock-wise). Just needed to switch the position of a little gear and now it's fine.
All in all it's worth its price, I even got it cheaper due to a sale. :D

Bought it before 2 days. Great set - massive with realistic look and rich details. I like the functions. THe build was the most interesting I've experienced from all lego sets I've had. Some mistakes are possible if you are not careful or if you rush some figure. I had to reassemble once or twice because I've missed a pin or a gear. The arm is tricky because some of the pictures do not show clearly where to connect the cables - the blue ones especially. And the organization of the cables is a bit tricky in the base, near the controllers. The set looks much better in real life. Before I buy it I was like - hmmm good parts pool with some rare and useful parts , but not so good looks but I found it at a good price and decided to buy it. Great decisions. When I built it ive discovered that it looks pretty nice and realistic. I've been impressed with its weight too. When the cashier gave the box to me and I handle it I've almost dropped it on the ground. I've expected not more then 2 kilos , half empty box, but yeah it is 4-5 kilos 3/4 full box. I've decided to buy most of my sets because of Sariel's videos. Thank you man for the detailed and interesting reviews!

33:40 its not relies on bucket's weight - just about tubing and its good set. You propably got squeezed black tube connected to small cylinder (as I got for others). It can be repaired :)
6:23 great for an RC 4x4 turning rack.
1. That banana is, I think, a sign of things to come.
2. I've also asked this question over at Eurobricks: I so do want to use the thin cylinders for a 4-wide MOC, but I fear that the cylinder wouldn't work on their own, but then fitting a whole pneumatic system in 4-studs wide a space (I'm making a crane. Would they?
3. Whoa. Mr. Kossmann just topped his Unimog and topped it bigtime with this beast.
4. I think the red parts would make for (huge) pistol slide parts.
5. Good thing Spidey decided to join Mercedes. I heard their F1 team is on a roll these days.

I have an interesting question: Would you rather not change anything on this model, or make it so, that it has no suspention, but easier to use, simplified Ackermann steering, which makes the wheels lower and make it look better?

In case anyone is having issues with the crane's turntable not spinning:
Is your crane not turning at all or is it turning only back to centre? If it turns back to centre, the problem might be caused by varying play between the turntable of the crane and the gear driving it.
I experienced this issue myself and it appears solved when pushing the small black drivewheel as close as possible to the turntable and pinching the cage it runs in tight (no gaps).
Beautiful set! I just built one! You persuaded me to get one. It looks cool next to my 42030 and 42070, although I dont think the 42070 could lift this beast.
Any tips on building the turntable on the Arocs? I've re-routed the hoses 3 times and still stops/doesn't turn smoothly.
I still think this and the other sets from 2H 2015 are very deeply impressive and I did wonder how on earth future sets could come close, but the sets for 2H 2016 seem to blow them out of the water since they come across so much more sophisticated than the 2H 2015 sets.
Obviously, it's a given the Bucket Wheel Excavator is one I'm looking forward to seeing you build and review (to be fair, everyone is really!), but the Claas Xerion 5000 Tractor and Porsche 911 are definite ones to watch out for too, the tractor especially since it's so heavily loaded with a wide range of functions.
The new MB Actros has a very high cabin.
Awesome set, looks great overall. Needs some improvements in the suspension, because it's a bit high and ugly. But I can't wait to get it and work on !

took me a day jsut to buid the crane but totaly worth the pain i had in my fingers :D (i got rong like 4 tubes that go underneith the crane :/ bad luck xD)
How funny...I also missed out an entire gear (very small dark grey) which meant I only had one half of the functions working.
Maybe the harder steering has got something to do with your set in particular? I've built mine and I don't have difficulties with the steering.
Mine does rotate a 180 degrees and its very easy to steer to. Maybe it got some changes after you rewed it.

thanks for the reply. the two red pins on the lower left and right are preventing the grey lift arms from connecting correctly. i built everything as it is in the book.
+Anthony Yovino Well, clearly you did not built everything as in the book because the red pins are not in the way at all. Also, these are 7 holes long grey liftarms, not 5 holes long. You built it wrong.

sariel I haven't built mine yet but I'm planning to use the extra hard shocks for the rear suspension since I'll be adding more parts, do you think it's going to work well considering the added weight of the parts? I just don't want the truck to lean backwards because of the odd shocks it was designed with.
