    This is how an elephant should live -- not performing tricks in a circus. Thank you for your great work

    I've made this point before: it's been cold and miserable in Toronto for FIVE solid months. Our worst winter in half a century. That's what the three girls missed. Instead they're living the good life in California. Better late than never. Thanks, PAWS!!!

    I live in California and have visited the sanctuary. It IS heaven for elephants, really a paradise. Thank you PAWS, and the remarkably generous Mr. Bob Barker.

      I saw these elephants at the Metro Zoo in Toronto. The move to California was big news here. I remember seeing the sanctuary on the 6:00 news and feeling happy for them.

      freewheeler88 so, with all these videos in TaiLand with I think her name is Lek. Why wouldn't African Elephants be moved there?
      There are larger herds, people if the WANT to socialize with them and so on. Check out them, well elephants freed after 80 years in slavery.
      An elephant is kind of an elephant aren't they? And maybe African elephants would have a better life style and from Africa avoid freaking poachers.
      I want to know why African and
      Indian elephants, except for specific instances are made into one community.
      Thanks
      Deb

    I visited PAWS this past February and that lagoon was bone dry. I got to see Thika exploring this same area, but I'm so happy to see how she enjoys the lagoon with actual water in it! What PAWS does for these elephants is so wonderful. If you're ever in Northern California, take the time to attend a PAWS event so you can see firsthand what a special place it is.

    FIRST LET ME SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING AN ANIMAL SANCTUARY AND FOR RESCUING THEM!!!😄💜🙏➕🙏...IT IS MY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE ARE STILL MANY ZOOS WHO STILL HAVE THESE GENTLE GIANTS (ELEPHANTS) ON DISPLAY AT THEIR ZOO!!!...WHICH SADDENS ME TO NO END!!!💔😭 BECAUSE I NOW KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THAT ELEPHANTS ARE MEANT TO LIVE A LIFE OF FREEDOM!!!... TO ROAM, FORAGE, SWIMMING AND SOCIALIZING WITH OTHER ELLIES!!!😄💜🐘🐘🐘 A PLACE WHERE THERE'S DIRT INSTEAD OF CONCRETE... IN ORDER TO SAND THEMSELVES OFTEN!!!... LARGE POOL OF WATER FOR BATHING/SWIMMING ETC. OR JUST DRINKING MANY GALLONS ON A DAILY BASIS!!! IS THE IDEAL AND TYPICAL LIFE OF GOD'S MAJESTIC AND REGAL GIANTS OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM!!!😄😍💜🐘🐘🐘...AND WITH THAT SAID... I'M ASKING YOU, "PAWS" TO PLEASE REACH OUT TO ZOOS EVERYWHERE TO PLEASE SET THESE BEAUTIFUL, GIANT ANIMAL SOULS FREE!!!... RETIRE THEM TO LIVE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES PEACEFULLY AND AS HAPPY AS POSSIBLE!!!...PLEEEZ!!!... I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT CINCINNATI ZOO STILL HAVE CAGED ELLIES ON DISPLAY!!!💔😭 ESPECIALLY SINCE SOO MUCH BUZZING GOING WORLDWIDE ABOUT THE MISTREATMENT OF ELEPHANTS; INCLUDING ZOO LIFE!!!... ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH KAAVAN???... A FORMER ZOO KEPT ELLIE WHO WAS KNOWN WORLDWIDE AS "THE WORLD'S LONELIEST ELEPHANT"!!!???😭💔...BUT THANK GOD FOR ACTRESS
    "CHER" WHO SAW THIS HUGE, HANDSOME BULL ELEPHANT BEING NEGLECTED BY THE ZOO LIFE OF CONCRETE AND LONELINESS... CHER'S GOOD HEART SPONSORED KAAVAN'S RELEASE AND RELOCATION TO A BEAUTIFUL SANCTUARY FOR ELEPHANTS IN CAMBODIA WHERE HE'S BEEN LIVING HAPPILY EVER SINCE THEN!!!😃😁😍💜🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🙋🙏🙏🙏➕➕➕👍

      Don't forget, elephants can communicate via infrasound, and even seismically - especially if they're in a quiet place. They're all - maybe even the Asians - aware of who is where, and who knows, they may even be gossiping.

    I do think the gang might love a big soccer ball or two. For me anyhow, peaceful, respectful Elephant integration would be far more interesting for them than just walking around. They are very smart and curious and I believe interested in sports. Why Not. they are there for life anyway.

    • @RoulinBrooks
      @RoulinBrooks 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As much as I admire PAWS' work and thank them for everything they do, it's true that the video updates are few and far between. Still, there's a document on their website from September, 2014 with details about how the Toronto girls are doing. They're doing really well--much, much better than they did in Toronto.

    • @claireloach8275
      @claireloach8275 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Oh good grief. I am from Toronto, and actually flew there last March, and saw this incredibly beautiful sanctuary. It is the most spectacular place, and yes....the elephants are together. They are not forced to perform for photo ops! Elephants and all creatures for that matter, should ideally be able to be in their natural habitat.......but for a zoo or circus elephant, it's like winning the lottery to be able to be at PAWS sanctuary. This place is absolutely glorious. If you have the opportunity ever.....please see this amazing place, rather than judge it.

    • @RoulinBrooks
      @RoulinBrooks 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think anyone's judging, Claire. It's just that updates are always appreciated. I don't agree with the other poster about seeing them all in the same photo because these lovely elephants should set their own agenda. But updates are always welcome. Even just sixty seconds to let us know how the Toronto girls are doing. Most of us don't have the luxury of flying to California. And also, from what I understand, the PAWS sanctuary isn't open to the public. Nor should it be.

    • @claireloach8275
      @claireloach8275 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right. It's not open to the public, other than a couple of times in the year, and it's very controlled on those occasions. I was extremely lucky to have been able to go to one of the limited visits. The PAWS sanctuary website is a wonderful way of keeping up with what's happening there. They do post updates and videos on occasion.

      If I was an elephant I wouldn't mind being at the elephant sanctuary just north of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Those Asian elephants appear to be actually having fun, plus they interact with visitors frequently which is stimulating. I think the climate in Thailand is more suitable for an elephant. Those elephants have it all and I'm jealous!!!

    Why are his tusks so short? Zoos and circuses need to go away. This land once teemed with millions of bison, now there's a small herd here & there. The sky was once black with passenger pigeons, now they're all gone, and we're still here. The human species, for all his mighty brain, is by far the stupidest animal.
