Lily reminds me so much of myself. I used to focus so much on my mistakes, at some points I would just fall apart while on lessons. I had to learn that its about safety not perfection. It took me 1.5 years to pass and over 200 hours with of 2 hour driving lessons, countless private practice with my parents and 2 failed driving test attempts. I passed 2 weeks ago with only 2 minors and brilliant comments from the examiner saying that I was very safe driver. If Lily is reading this or anyone who is struggling. You can do it, you have to learn its about being safe and legal, it doesn't matter how long it takes you but that feeling once the examiner hands you the certificate is totally worth it!
If I passed lily will surely learn and pass it took me 10 tries to pass and it was automatic what’s hard on an automatic car nothing but the lack of confidence, bad instructer and fear of oncoming traffic luckily I passed so my advice believe in yourself and have the confidence good luck
Matt is right nothing is perfect, lillys thinking she has to be 100 per cent perfection every time but that's not realistic and everyone makes mistakes, she needs to be proud of everything she's achieved, many people would have probability given up after everything she's been through but she's still going, once she gets her confidence back there will be no stopping her 😊👍
Wish I get a positive, calm instructor like you. I'm just like Lilly, overanalysing my mistakes and say sorry allll the time. My (now old) instructor would whine when I made a mistake more than once. I actually have to move hence find a new instructor
Who cares what people think that are watching forgot the past and think about the future I'm sure you will be a brilliant driver once you pass keep up the good work 🙂
It's hard to break old habits with a bad instructor. Lilly don't think to much about previous experiences, Matt is a good one. Think to yourself this is the 1st set of lessons I'm having im learning for the 1st time. Best Wishes Lilly.
In my opinion, she is a really good high-level driver I think she knows that but finds it hard to get it out. I was exactly the same. Lily will get this eventually so there's no need worry lily you will be driving on your own in no time. Practice Practice Practice that's all it is.
half way into the video and you should be proud of what you have accomplished so much from when you first started well done keep it up dont let the past get to you as all of us can see how far you have come keep going lilly where all proud of you dont let the negative bother you there is more positive.
She does talk a lot. but she is willing to learn and not giving up and that is a good thing. I want to learn driving but I am scared to even try. Good sis and I hope you success.💖💖💖💖💖
lily seems like she's a sweet + genuine lady but she over thinks majorly + that's keeping her stuck in the same place. She 2nd guesses herself alot + she didn't need too. I hope Lily is doing well x
My driving instructor had a push pull thing with the steering. So you hands start at the top, if you are turning right then you pull with your right hand until both hands meet in the middle (the bottom but now the top of the steering wheel), if you needed to turn more then it would pass to your left hand which would push. To then take that steering off you would pull left, meet at the bottom, push right, meet at the top. Vice versa for turning left. Feel like this would help Lilly and she could practice with a dinner plate at home too. Edit: I hadn't got to that part of the video
I wish we all could get a nice carm driving instructor as you Matt I'm on my second driving instructor and he still seem to get grumpy with me when I make a mistake instead of helping me lily is so good and seems to earn a lot with you
I used to be really scared of making mistakes in case I stalled but when I learnt how to quickly restart the car after I stalled, i got less scared of making mistakes. I think I was very similar to Lily when I was learning and I reckon she'll be a great driver when she passes!
THE BEST MILLION DOLLAR TIP FOR LILY IS. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 PLEASE GIVE A TRY TO AUTOMATIC CAR. Let the car do this gear changing for you. You only focus on road ahead. Who else agree with me??
Problem with automatics , l know in ireland they are more expensive to buy and to fix as well lf something happens with them. Also a lot of instructors use manuals for teaching
It's not about driving manual! It's about Her fear. Overthinking.... But she already made a progress. Mustafa i think u should watch another earlier videos with Lily to understand what's in her head. LILY U CAN DO IT! DON'T GIVE UP
For all those comments saying drive an auto, yes it may be easier to drive but most want to learn a manual. - From the sounds of it Lilly has her own manual car, why would she learn in an automatic when the car she has herself is manual, it's best to learn control rather than give in and switch to a different car especially when she demonstrates she has a very good level of understanding and ability to control the clutch.
That’s Borrowash, right where I live! Is this a new test route in Derby? 😀 btw I hope Lilly overcomes her nerves she makes a very good learner driver 👍🏻
Are you saying it’s more important to look at your mistakes and learn from them instead of dwelling on them? Or perhaps if you focused only on the positives, the mistakes would sort out themselves?
I feel bad for her but she has a response and an excuse for everything. If she stopped speaking and just focused and listened to Matt she would be a much better driver.
Totally agree been saying this for a while - i think its her anxiety. She needs to fill silence when there is no instruction coming from Matt. If she just relaxed a bit more and let herself listen and watch for hazards. She will get there. 💪
What are your thoughts on Lilly's coasting here, Matt? She seems to depress the clutch early, rather than braking (using engine compression or the footbrake) until idle revs, and THEN depressing the clutch.
What litre is your car? I've noticed lily sits in 2nd gear alot, which I'm wondering if she doesn't feel the resistance when speeding up? or she changes gear up late. I have a 1.2, at 30 I can sit in 5th gear but I couldn't do that with my previous 1.4 or 1.6.
I’m currently learning and I have a test for the end of October. My instructor keeps saying that my actual driving is fine but I just need to 'read the road more' and 'think more like a driver'. Do you have any tips to do this?
My advice would be this: 1 - Road awareness comes from observing (ie looking) at other road users, junctions, pedestrians, traffic lights, signs etc.. everything that is outside that front window you should be looking at. When I passed my test last year, I was taught to always observe. Look at junctions every time you walk past them. Looking left and right and being aware of your surroundings. 2 - Practice looking at drivers when you are in the passenger seat. Can you imagine yourself driving the car as you watch them drive? 3 - Get used to predicting behaviours of people on the road. Are you aware of people around you? What colour cars are infront? Are there people on the side of the round as you drive? I think your instructor is getting you to think outside of our "tunnel vision" -- ie, only looking infront of you and that's it. Driving is all about planning, reacting, reading and predicting the road. Rather than just one straight line to where you need to go. I hope that helps!
Try ask her to drive and say no talking not to be rude just a test and maybe stick on low some classic.fm on see if that relaxes her a bit. Also to follow instructions but no response verbally just to do it. I bet that would help alot.
I hate saying this but if lily went with another driving school she'd pass with flying colours but unfortunately she's sticking with this one and the standards and expectations are too high
How many lesson she had with this guy now and she still needs to learn the basics ?! clearly she is a slow learner so maybe break the lessons up so she has time to absorb and practice in her own time to pick it up... I get she struggles but the way she going she is gonna waste another 85k
@Aug 99 Anyone can see its her confidence that she needs to build on and work on her Anxiety first otherwise she gonna just keep wasting her money. driving instructor is quiet good to take on someone that has a slow understanding if he wants to see an END result that is what he is gonna have to work on with her

Patient of a saint
Thankful for all patient Driving Instructors 😊
An impatient driving instructor probably isn't going to be too great at their job.
He is parked lilly he is out the van with a parcel in his hand 🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant Instructor. Your very good with Lilly. Keep going Lilly. Don't worry about the small things. 🙏😊
Another really enjoyable video! You're doing great, Lilly. Matt is absolutely brilliant too.
I love this series so much. 😎😂
Me too.

I went back to basics at one point too and spent a 2 hour lesson practicing steering driving around an empty car park haha

Me and my bf was sat there for nearly half an hour laughing at that reaction 😂😂

Exactly think positive and better driving more confidence
@@evanmacdonald9632 big daw answered it what I meant to say.

Louis Moore same idea

She talks more than she needs to learn 😂😂😂
agreed
What are your thoughts on Lilly's coasting here, Matt? She seems to depress the clutch early, rather than braking (using engine compression or the footbrake) until idle revs, and THEN depressing the clutch.
i did a lot of holding the clutch when learning.. would never do it now as it burns the clutch

“Hello and welcome to the channel, the GOAT🐐...” 😂
From experience, talking can be used as a delaying tactic. The more time spent talking, less time spent driving could be a reason.

I got mine end of October aswell just keep your eyes out for hazards and take it slow good luck
Mohamed Hassan I think that i need to relax with it more and take it slower. Good luck with yours aswell.
@@emilyfairfax1676 good luck btw
Plz tell me if yur doing 30mph n u have turn left/right how are u supposed to slow so fast i was braking last week n was getting horned at

This is funny to watch this guy seems annoyed 🤣🤣🤣
Lol that's exactly what I was thinking my guy looks like he's gonna chuck her out 🤣
I give her something, she is persistent but she needs to have more confidence. She is constantly thinking she is going to do something wrong.

Ok but she has to many excuses. In my opinion, I think she would be a better driver if she be silent and listening to her instructor
