“Something we forget, Something we never forget. It’s Funny, i don’t know which one is sadder.” I hate how this is 100% true no matter how old you get. I feel his pain.
I love this sub-scenario. The dialogue is so good. Silent Hill will always hold a special place in my heart. The opening, Maria in the chair with the gun and the music, it feels like you're not supposed to see it. Like you're intruding into the other world. The part with Ernest and the door gives me chills!
I think she would have been to op if she actually had her gun, and helped James, in the game, but maybe not because you would really only have her for the little bit of time you have her in the park, and town, plus it would help since battle encounters aren’t the focus.
She have remnance of mary's memories but she is a succubus tecnically. So her true form can be a pure demon that automatically generates a mind and a body when summoned from town+people memories and stuff . But going to the end of the game mary was a 85% full succubus in her mind
Maria seems like a good person when she's away from James. As soon as she gets closer to James, her personality changes drastically. It goes to show she's more than just a manifestation of James' mind. That's probably why Ernest wanted her to avoid him. She went out of her way to help Ernest, so it's very interesting how she has a mind of her own.
@Kamil Maj i agree , point to the part : Ernest was going to tell Maria who she really is, then Maria cut it up….she already knew it however she didn’t accept it and still wondering, and Ernest just remind her…..Silent hill 2 is very excellent story and character develop , each one we could feel their pain and the truth is another horror thing beside the horror of a monster in Silent hill…
Despite only being a short section of the game, nothing else has caused me to feel such loneliness, isolation, despair and regret than this has It reminds me of so many long ago days contemplating the meaning of reality while plagued by my own guilt and regret while staring out of the window on a cold, grey afternoon Ernest reminds me so much of myself
The scene where she opens the door is definitely reminiscent of the dream sequence that Laura has from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, with the way things are framed and camera positioned. Can't wait to see if the remake is gonna miss that too...
I think she was a dancer at Heaven's Night that committed suicide. The beginning of her afterlife starts in this spirited town. She can't accept being alone after death so she makes a deal within herself to continue. Her limbo is now attached to James's limbo. His thoughts & rememberance of who Mary was is now ingrained as her own. Amazing storyline
This prequel scenario makes me think that Maria was just an ordinary person who was lonely.. I heard she’s actually a demon but I think maybe she got possessed by Silent Hill or something..
Old post but no. Maria is a creation of Silent Hill made to torment and punish James by reminding him of his wife and suffering terrible deaths over and over until he realizes what he did and is ready to atone for his sins. She isn't human, she's a monster not unlike any of the nurses or other creatures you find. She may have some of Mary's personality traits and memories but overall she's her own entity being driven by her purpose to find and punish James. Quite a sad character actually.
@@darkl3ad3r She’s not like the nurses though. She’s her own sentient flesh and blood person who happens to be a creation of the town. She had a chance to escape and refuse to fulfill her role but she didn’t. She’s like Galatea if Galatea spent all her time mentally tormenting Orpheus.
In the room? It’s implied that he is a ghost. Either he committed suicide after his daughter died or he was killed presumably from the SH monsters as at one in this side story You find a corpse nearby the house. Also the fact that when she enters the room it’s empty.
I’ve came to the conclusion that in Silent Hill where the people in it (James, Eddy, Maria) are projecting everything such as the monsters, decaying buildings, broken roads. Its all their minds showing them their fears and problems due to the town having a spiritual presence from hundreds of years ago. The dead also reside there through the eyes of the insane, thats why Maria could see Ernest. Maria is a creation of James manifested from Mary and what he wanted Mary to be after dealing with the loneliness. The white Liquid is a mystery but i think its just an ancient liquid that lets the dead rest and to move on from their grief after knowing the truth to their death.
@@DGdescendant22 This is pretty much correct. The "white liquid" is the White Chrism, an oil used in the Order's rebirth ritual. SH4 mentions it as part of the holy scriptures that Walter is following.

The part when Ernest almost cries after hearing about his daughter again. It always leaves my eyes watery
This and the fact that Maria worries about Laura kinda casts doubt that Maria's sole purpose was to punish James

Was he going to say she's In danger before she cut him off.
I think he was going to tell you’re dead
He was going to tell her she's 'born from a wish'.
@@Subject98 That's what I believe too. I doubt she would take him seriously anyway. She's in denial during these scenes.

@@morganalabeille5004 I meant in that she's a spawn of the town and more or less a monster like them.
Impressive story.🙌👍👍
Will there be a chance that silent hill 2 remake will come with born from a wish dlc?
Absolutely

No, he's an entity or spirit stuck in Silent Hill for eternity. In a way he only exists only to suffer because of his diseased daughter.
Why was no1 there
