    Does the idea of flying with a baby terrify you? I remember my first flight with our young son, it was actually THREE flights to get from Toronto to Rio for a volunteering trip and it was TOUGH!
    But flying with babies has gotten easier over time, and as I am flying alone with a 9 month old from Toronto to LAX (with our SEVENTH baby, Phoebe), I thought I'd take the opportunity to share some of my flying with a baby tips to make it an easier experience. If you're flying alone with a baby in the near future, stay tuned!
    AIRLINES THAT HAVE DECENT ROOM IN ECONOMY CLASS: Air Canada and West Jet. Those are the only two airlines I will fly if given the choice for US and Canadian trips.
    Anytime I have booked a ticket on a more budget carrier to save money, I have paid for it in discomfort. There just isn't much room between you and the seat in front of you so it can get quite uncomfortable for you and baby if you are holding your baby in your lap for the entire duration of the flight.

    Great tips! A baby carrier is so helpful when flying with a baby. We do a similar method but skip the stroller and bring a reusable bag for checking the car seat. I agree 100% about not needing to bring many toys on the plane! There are other things to entertain a baby. 🌺Heidi

    Omg you are the first out of traveling with kids videos that has mention the family lane and that’s my biggest worry is the security point and I didn’t know it was available I checked ATL airport does. I’m traveling to California with two under two during Christmas season

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh wow! Yes, it is a huge relief to find that express lane. Also, when you are boarding, they let families with kids under two board earlier than general boarding, usually right after First Class. Make sure to listen for the announcement because I've seen families miss it and board with everyone else.

    awww you are so Amazing! thanks for your tips, you make it look so easy. I am soon travelling to the UK from Ottawa with a 8months old and Hubby too, my biggest worry was how am i going to hold my baby while seating, is he going to sleep on me as well as he does n his crib? toys to bring! i thought i would have to buy a travel stroller bag , surprised airlines provide one supper helpful!

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely ask if the flight is full, so you may be able to get reseated with an empty seat beside you to let him rest there. And if he sleeps on you not quite as well as the crib, at least it’s only 5 or 6 hours 😄

    I'll be traveling w/baby by myself in a couple weeks and was so nervous! But after watching this video I feel so empowered!! Thank you for sharing your experience! What do you do during takeoff and landing? I've read is recommended to feed the baby? My LO is 4 months old.

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      natphin not a dumb question! The baby is actually not allowed to be strapped to you during take off and landing- if I understand correctly the logic is that if you had to evacuate, you can hand the baby off to someone else

    • @maaikevandijk-bokkers944
      @maaikevandijk-bokkers944 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For international flights it is a bit different I guess. I ordered a vegan meal for my older kids and they got It before anyone else which was nice. Also, they have a baby cot for an overnight flight (we didn’t use ours, you have to reserve them).

    • @ThePossibilityMom

    Thank you for for sharing, informative video. Question: which airline do you recommend is best with space - I'll be traveling with my grandson.

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found the bigger airlines had more space- Air Canada and West Jet in Canada, United in USA- whereas the budget airlines were way too tight. I would check if you can see the space between seats before you book and compare flights, but when in doubt I would pay a bit more for a bigger name airline.

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! You can bring the stroller right to the plane and gate check it. So they take it from where I left it and put it under the plane, and when you land you find it right back there. When you are about to board they will give you a tag for it

    Your baby is adorable. I am travelling alone with my 14 month old and 3 year old from Lima to Miami on a humanitarian flight since we got stuck in Peru when visiting family. This will be another ball game for me to travel with 2 under the current circumstances. Thanks for the tip on how to go to bathroom, may have to do the same and hope my almost 4 year old stays on the seat. My 1 year old will NOT be sitting so happily like yours, he just wants to go down and explore if not he will yell BAD, wish me luck!

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, great question! This carseat is able to work without the base. The base is nice because it's very secure, but you can also just loop the seatbelt through part of the seat. Happy travels!

    Sooo helpful....I'm flying from Vancouver to Paris with my 6-month old during COVID (we are moving) ALONE with no help...do you think I should not bother with the stroller bringing the stroller to the gate and just keep her in the carrier? We have to transfer too (2-hour layover). So maybe just check it in (it's not super easy to collapse, it's a bugaboo) before the flight?

    • @ThePossibilityMom
      @ThePossibilityMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michelle Kim I would do the stroller just so you can give your shoulders a break- and maybe get yourself a nice meal hands free! But 100% bring a bag for your stroller or use my plastic bag tip- they kinda just toss the stuff around under the airplane and we had the unfortunate experience of losing our sun canopy once when we flew without a stroller bag! Best of luck, you got this!!!!

    This has been very helpful..thank you Lisa! Your indeed a supermommy.. love your confidence. We are travelling in 2 weeks with my almost 4 month old baby.. hope its gonna be as easy as it looks on screen 😁😅 our first flight is for 3 hours, later this year again we have another travel booked that will be a 9 hour flight.. i have a quick question, he loves music so much and soothes only when he hears Marc Anthony or Shakira.. was wondering how to play this onboard.... cant play loud music as the other passengers will get disturbed so am planning to buy him a pair of headphones for babies ...is this a good idea? Or is there an alternative? Any tips would do..

    • @ThePossibilityMom
